Application of spectrometric nuclear borehole logging for reserves estimation and mine planning at Callide coalfields open-cut mine

Nuclear borehole logging is practically the only technique that has the capacity for providing quantitative in-situ coal quality information in real time. The SIROLOG gamma–gamma and neutron–gamma (PGNAA) borehole logging procedures have been providing vital characteristics of the coal seams at Callide coalfields since 1993. Together with an accurate delineation of coal seams, the SIROLOG procedures estimate ash content, density and some ash constituents accurately enough for relatively inexpensive rotary chip holes to be accepted as points of observation in calculations of reserves.

介绍了采用中子活化瞬发γ技术(PGNAA)检测化学毒剂的原理,对基于PGNAA技术的化学武器检测系统的中子源、慢化剂和探头的选择及数据处理进行了理论分析和研究.提出了以BGO探头,1μg252 Cf-中子源搭建的一套简便实用的化学武器检测系统,其通过检测化学武器中广泛存在的C1元素来识别化学武器.     

Experimental optimization of a landmine detection facility using PGNAA method

The optimum moderator geometry increases the performance of prompt gamma neutron activation analysis (PGNAA) method considerably. In this work an 241Am-Be source was used in the moderator geometry for detecting buried landmines by PGNAA method. Experiments were done to find the best moderator geometry for the moderated 241 Am-Be source, by replacing the mine with a neutron detector and counting the thermal neutron flux. The flux of thermal neutrons at the place of mine was used as a determining factor to introduce the best moderator geometry.
