A bass frequency response enhanced flexible polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) based thin film acoustic actuator is successfully fabricated. High concentrations of various zinc oxide (ZnO) is embedded in PVDF matrix, enhancing the β phase content and the dielectric property of the composite thin film. ZnO acts as a nucleation agent for the crystallization of PVDF. A chemical vapor deposition grown graphene is used as electrodes, enabling high electron mobility for the distortion free acoustic signals. The frequency response of the fabricated acoustic actuator is studied as a function of the film thickness and filler content. The optimized film has a thickness of 80 μm with 30 wt% filler content and shows 72% and 42% frequency response enhancement in bass and midrange compared to the commercial PVDF, respectively. Also, the total harmonic distortion decreases to 82% and 74% in the bass and midrange regions, respectively. Furthermore, the composite film shows a promising potential for microphone applications. Porous materials such as aluminum foam have been investigated for possible use as impact shock absorbers in transportation aeronautic applications. However, the response of aluminum foam during impacts at high velocities of more than 100 m/s is not yet fully understood. A high-velocity impact experiment was therefore carried out to clarify impact shock absorption properties of aluminum foam. A one-stage powder gun was used to accelerate an aluminum foam sample to impact a rigid wall. Velocity and deformation of the aluminum foam sample during impact was studied using a digital high-speed video camera, while the pressure wave in the aluminum foam sample was measured using a PVDF gauge. The experimental observations revealed uneven collapse of the aluminum foam sample structure during high speed impact with a general stress plateau effect, typical for cellular material structures when subjected to quasi-static loading. 相似文献

Direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) proton exchange membranes were prepared by blending poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) with sulfonated poly(ether sulfone) (SPES). Using a diffusion cell and gas chromatographic technique, the effects of PVDF content on methanol permeability in the blended membranes were investigated. The thermal resistance and proton conductivity of the membranes were also determined by using a thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and an impedance analysis technique respectively. The presence of sulfonic acid groups in SPES was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR). It was found that the methanol permeability in the blended membranes decreased with PVDF content at the expense of proton conductivity. Blended membranes show methanol permeability values much lower than that of Nafion 115, whereas the proton conductivities of the membranes are comparable with that of Nafion. Rare earth polymers, due to their excellent luminescence, fluorescence, laser protective, optical and magnetic properties, have attracted much research attention in recent years. However, little attention has been paid to the effect of rare earths on the structure and crystallization of polymers, which is of important significance in the development of functional polymers. X‐ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry were used to investigate the structure and crystallization behavior of a poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF)/lanthanum oxide (La2O3) composite. The results showed that the degree of perfection, crystal size, crystallization rate and isothermal crystallization activation energy of PVDF in the composite decreased, compared with pure PVDF. The spherulite nucleation and growth for PVDF and PVDF composite were analyzed in detail using the Lauritzen‐Hoffman equation. The modified Avrami equation and the Mo equation were used to study the non‐isothermal crystallization kinetics. The addition of La2O3 did not change the crystal structure and nucleation process for PVDF, but it decreased markedly the crystal growth rate and led to the formation of unstable crystals. This was attributed to the fact that too much La2O3 prevented PVDF molecular chains from moving and arranging in an orderly manner into crystals. Copyright © 2010 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献

Nanoclay and carbon nanotubes (CNT) have been in focus recently as means of enhancing β phase crystals formation in poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF). Dominantly, the so-far work has been carried out on films/thin sheets filled with nanoclay. It has been found, mainly from combined XRD and DSC data, that nanoclay influences the PVDF structure, and particularly the β phase crystals formation is enhanced. Results published by various groups are in fairly good agreement. There are no results for nanoclay filled melt-spun PVDF fibres.The influence of CNT on PVDF structure has been less studied. XRD data indicating an enhancing role of multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNT) on β phase crystals formation in solution compounded PVDF films are available. Published results for MWNT/PVDF films are not in good agreement. The only study into single-wall carbon nanotube (SWNT)/PVDF has been made on electrospun nanofibres.We explore above findings towards melt-spun nanofilled PVDF fibres. We present new results obtained by us for melt-spun PVDF fibres containing non-functionalized and amino-functionalized double-wall carbon nanotubes (DWNT).
