To obtain a durable Ni coating with excellent adhesion strength on an AZ91D Mg alloy, a pretreatment was performed with a small amount of Cu2+ ions added to the activation bath used in the pretreatment prior to the plating process. In the pretreatment activation process, a high density Cu layer was deposited on both the α-phase and β-phase areas of the substrate accompanied with Mg dissolution. The Cu deposit acted as nucleation seeds for the Zn deposition in the following zincate process which provided a uniform and dense Zn layer almost completely covering the substrate. Then a thin Cu layer was electroplated on this zincated substrate as an undercoating for the succeeding electroplating with Ni. Cross-sectional scanning electron microscopy observations showed that the Cu deposited by the pretreatment enabled the deposition of a protective Ni layer with few defects. This structure also contributed to the improvement of adhesion strength and corrosion resistance as compared with the non-Cu added sample. 相似文献

The kinetics of zinc electrodeposition from acid sulphate solution on a platinum electrode was investigated by means of stationary polarization curves, interfacial pH measurement and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The effect of pH, namely pH 2, 3 and 4, was analyzed. A significant dependence of Zn electrodeposition with solution pH was verified. The results obtained cannot be predicted by the available models for Zn electrodeposition. A reaction model is then proposed based on the predominant steps as a function of the potential and the electrode surface nature. 相似文献

The composition, surface morphology and appearance of Zn–Co alloy deposits as a function of current density, electrode potential and Co2+ concentration in the electrolyte was studied. It was found that coatings of good quality with low (1%) Co content are formed at a current density of 0.2Adm–2 and with high (6.5%) Co content at 2Adm–2 from electrolytes containing 1.0M Co2+ under galvanostatic conditions. The potentiodynamic dissolution of coatings with Co content of 6.5% indicates successive deposition of Co enriched phases and a pure Zn phase. The initial stages of both Zn–Co and Zn electrodeposition were investigated by electrochemical quartz crystal microgravimetry (EQCM). The initial electrode mass growth, determined under both pulse and constant current conditions, was much higher than predicted by Faraday's law. This was explained in terms of the precipitation of scarcely soluble compounds of zinc on an electrode surface. The EQCM data confirm that the hydroxide suppression mechanism explains the anomalous Zn and Co codeposition. A nonuniform adsorption of brightener (benzalaceton) on the profiled surface was concluded on the basis of plating distribution investigations. Lewis acidic 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloroaluminate ionic liquids were used as promising elec-trolytes in the low-temperature electrodeposition of aluminium.Systematic studies on deposition process have been performed by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry.The surface morphology and X-ray diffraction(XRD) patterns of deposits prepared at different experimental conditions were also investigated.It was shown that the nu-cleation density and growth rate of crystallites had a great effect on the structure of aluminium deposited.The crys-tallographic orientation of deposits was mainly influenced by temperature and current density.Smooth,dense and well adherent aluminium coatings were obtained on copper substrates at 10-25 mA?cm?2 and 313.2-353.2 K.More-over,the current efficiency of deposition and purity of aluminium have been significantly improved,demonstrating that the ionic liquids tested have a prospectful potential in electroplating and electrorefining of aluminium. 相似文献
