An ongoing, annual survey of publications in systems and software engineering identifies the top 15 scholars and institutions in the field over a 5-year period. Each ranking is based on the weighted scores of the number of papers published in TSE, TOSEM, JSS, SPE, EMSE, IST, and Software of the corresponding period. This report summarizes the results for 2003-2007 and 2004-2008. The top-ranked institution is Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Korea for 2003-2007, and Simula Research Laboratory, Norway for 2004-2008, while Magne Jørgensen is the top-ranked scholar for both periods.  相似文献

In the United States, women tend to publish less than men do and to be overrepresented at the lower ranks of academia. This study examined the scientific productivity and career status of female and male psychology faculty in Italian universities. Psychology was selected as a discipline because for decades, it has had a female majority among its doctorates. Italy was the case study country because it has one of the highest representations of women among university faculty. This study's questions were: What is the representation of female psychology academics across faculty and high administration ranks? Is the publication productivity of female psychology academics different from that of their male peers? Finally, what institutional factors are associated with publication productivity among psychology academics? Our study focused on the 511 university psychology professors (250 women and 261 men) listed in 2004 in the Italian Ministry of Education University and Research website. We examined scientific productivity over 7 years, from 1998 to 2004, using PsycINFO. We found that women represented two thirds of assistant professors but only one third of full professors and department chairs. Overall, women published somewhat less (approximately one third less) than men, especially in international journals and as senior authors. However, consistent with prior evidence, when multiple predictors were considered together, both academic rank and institutional setting, but not sex-of-faculty, were associated with publication output. This study confirms prior observations that a strong female doctoral pipeline and scientific productivity are very slow at influencing the underrepresentation of women at the top ranks of academia. Research productivity in the Journal of Applied Psychology (JAP) was assessed for 39 universities offering a doctoral program in industrial/organizational (I/O) psychology. Productivity ratings were subsequently compared with perceptions of I/O program quality obtained by Greenberg et al. in 1978. The results indicate that there is a very strong relation between such subjective opinions of program quality and the number of articles that a university had published in JAP before 1978. The results also reveal some changes in productivity ratings during the past 8 yrs (i.e., 1978–1985), suggesting that concurrent changes in perceptions of I/O program quality might likewise have occurred in recent times. Assesses the growth and development of the fields of psychology by comparing publications and reports of experiments in the 1927 volume of Psychological Abstracts with those in the 1974 volume. The quantitative growth was found to be prodigious, the qualitative less so. The 1920's were seminal years, because many current concepts--most of them imported from Europe--began to affect American thought. Since then, Americans have refined the methodology related to these concepts. Grand theory began to wane in the late 1920's and miniature theory to develop. Interest in certain topics, particularly conscious states and self, has survived, while interest in other topics has waned. The study addressed three major questions regarding the 1995-1999 journal publications of faculty at school psychology programs accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) as of Sept. 1, 2000: (a) Which program faculties had the strongest records of article publications for 1995-1999? (b) What were the major school psychology and nonschool psychology journals in which program faculties published their work from 1995-1999? and (c) What were the principal article themes of the most prolific programs for 1995-1999? Reviews the book "The measured effectiveness of employee publications" by the Marketing and Social Research Division of the Psychological Corporation (see record 1954-03370-000). The book is a study of readership, penetration, and readability of seven employee publications. In general, the results show the employee publication to be one of the best of available sources of information about the company--better than such sources as the first-line supervisor, the union steward, and meetings. An incredible 97 per cent of the 1,800 in-plant interviews indicate belief in what they read in the company magazine or newspaper. Readership was likewise quite high, namely 90 per cent reported they had read at least one of the two most recent issues and, on the average, 78 per cent reported that they read the publications regularly. Thoroughness of readership, however, was much less. The reviewer has little to criticize with respect to what is actually presented in this report. However, one misses any reference to other relevant studies to which the scholarly business executives could turn for further information if he so desired.
