Communication design is usually complex in Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) because of dynamic emergent behaviours. The lack of proper quantitative measures to assess alternative solutions and guide an iterative development makes this design even harder. The aim of this work is to efficiently find and describe communication patterns that should be avoided in these systems and identify the agents involved in these patterns. For this purpose, this research presents a suite of novel metrics and classification rules that, respectively, measure agents’ communication and classify their results to describe patterns. This work also provides tools for automatically measuring the metrics and applying the classification rules. In order to evaluate this work, the results of applying these metrics and classification rules have been compared with the quality attribute of performance in several MAS. Performance is measured as the time between a user’s request and the MAS response, and partially represents the factor of the quality of service. The experiments gather four agent-oriented communication designs that belong to two different domains: Crisis-management and Cinema ticket selling. The study reveals that the detected communication patterns are related with performance, and that the proposed metrics can arguably guide the design of communications improving the overall performance of systems. 相似文献

Ontologies offer significant benefits to multi-agent systems: interoperability, reusability, support for multi-agent system (MAS) development activities (such as system analysis and agent knowledge modeling) and support for MAS operation (such as agent communication and reasoning). This paper presents an ontology-based methodology, MOBMAS, for the analysis and design of multi-agent systems. MOBMAS is the first methodology that explicitly identifies and implements the various ways in which ontologies can be used in the MAS development process and integrated into the MAS model definitions. In this article we focus on the notion of artifact for agents in multi-agent systems (MAS) as a basis for a new meta-model promoting the modelling and engineering of agent
societies and MAS environment as first-class entities. Its conceptual foundations lay upon theories and results coming from
computational sciences as well as from organisational and cognitive sciences, psychology, computer supported cooperative work
(CSCW), anthropology and ethology. In the resulting agents & artifacts (A&A) meta-model, agents are the (pro-)active entities
in charge of the goals/tasks that altogether build up the whole MAS behaviour, whereas artifacts are the reactive entities
providing the services and functions that make individual agents work together in a MAS, and that shape agent environment
according to the MAS needs. After presenting the scientific background, we define the notions of artifact in the A&A meta-model,
discuss how it affects the notion of intelligence in MAS, and show its application to a number of agent-related research fields. 相似文献
