This paper proposes a new discrete wavelet transform (DWT)-based joint antenna selection scheme for spatially correlated multiple-input
multiple output (MIMO) channels. To reduce the severe performance degradation of the traditional antenna selection schemes
in correlated channels, a new scheme which employ joint antenna selection (JAS) at both link ends algorithm and embed DWT
operations in the receiver-end RF chains is proposed. Through extensive simulations it is demonstrated that the proposed DWT-based
joint antenna selection has significant improvement of the capacity for both i.i.d and correlated MIMO channels, while requiring
only a minor hardware overhead and low computational complexity for the DWT operations. Moreover, it is shown that the capacity
associated with DWT-based JAS is higher than the system employing DWT-based receive antenna selection (RAS) only. This is

Sub-surface radar has become increasingly popular for carrying out completely non-invasive integrity tests on concrete structures. Commercial systems are available with a range of antenna frequencies that may be selected for an investigation. The choice of a particular antenna frequency is often a compromise between the physical size of the antenna and the penetration and resolution capabilities provided by the antenna. However, there is an interaction between a surface contact antenna and the substrate under investigation that will alter the field pattern being transmitted that may have significant implications for interpretation of results. An experimental programme is described in which the characteristics of commercially available 900 MHz and 1 GHz antennas are compared in air and when in contact with concrete and water surfaces, together with an emulsion used in previous studies to simulate the radar properties of concrete. Results are presented showing the influence of the material being measured upon the signal divergence. These effects are considered in terms of the practical implications for field-testing using radar. 相似文献

The role of the geometrical configuration of isotropic elements in a planar array is investigated with a view to achieve maximum directivity. Distinctions are made between normal and superdirective regions. It is further shown that the configurations leading to optimum directivities may depend on aperture diameter in a manner somewhat analogous to phase transitions in solid state physics. The effect of losses is estimated and it is shown that, particularly for superconductive materials, they do not affect much the achievable gain. 相似文献

This paper proposes a novel Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) transmission scheme based on Pattern Recognition (PR), which is termed as the PR aided Transmission Antenna Selection MIMO (PR-TAS aided MIMO). As the conventional TAS algorithms need to search all possible legitimate antenna subsets, they may impose some redundant calculations. In order to avoid this problem, we employ some pattern recognition methods to carry out the TAS algorithm in this paper. To be specific, two PR algorithms, namely the K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithm and the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm, are introduced and redesigned to obtain a TAS with lower complexity but higher efficiency. Moreover, in order to improve the performance of the SVM, we propose a new feature extraction of channel matrix for the TAS. Our simulation results show that the proposed KNN and SVM based PR-TAS algorithms are capable of striking a flexible tradeoff between the complexity and the Bit Error Rate (BER), and the new feature can effectively improve the BER performance compared with the conventional feature extraction method. 相似文献

This paper proposes a simple yet accurate method for estimating the antenna correlation coefficient (ACC) of a high-order multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna. The conventional method employed to obtain the ACC from three-dimensional radiation patterns is costly and difficult to measure. An alternate method is to use the S-parameters, which can be easily measured using a network analyzer. However, this method assumes that the antennas are highly efficient, and it is therefore not suitable for lossy MIMO antenna arrays. To overcome this limitation, we define and utilize the non-coupled radiation efficiency in the S-parameter-based ACC formula. The accuracy of the proposed method is verified by the simulation results of a 4-port highly coupled lossy MIMO array.
