In this paper we consider the problem of constructing confidence regions for the parameters of nonlinear dynamical systems. The proposed method uses higher order statistics and extends the LSCR (leave-out sign-dominant correlation regions) algorithm for linear systems introduced in Campi and Weyer [2005, Guaranteed non-asymptotic confidence regions in system identification. The confidence regions contain the true parameter value with a guaranteed probability for any finite number of data points. Darcy’s equations model the flow of a viscous incompressible fluid in a rigid porous medium. One of the parameters of the system depends on the permeability of the medium and, when this medium is not homogeneous, the variations of the parameter could be very high. To handle this phenomenon, we propose a discretization of the model that relies on the mortar finite element method. Indeed, the idea is to construct a decomposition of the domain such that the permeability is constant on each element of the partition and to use independent meshes on the different subdomains. We perform the a priori and a posteriori analysis of this discretization and present some numerical experiments which are in good coherency with the results of the analysis. 相似文献

This paper addresses the problem of finding the parameters of the arrival law which most significantly influence expected occupation and loss of a finite capacity queue. The input process is supposed to be ergodic and wide sense stationary. We show that it is mostly possible to fit an MMPP(2) to the decisive parameters of observational data. Numerical examples illustrate the importance of the decisive parameters, called key parameters, and also show the accuracy of the proposed fitting procedure. In this study, Hill's muscle theory coupled with fatigue was proposed to describe mechanical behaviours of skeletal muscles. The force developed by a fatigued muscle was described by a muscle fatigue formula which was a time function of the activation αa and the stretch λ. The modified Hill's muscle theory was hence incorporated into a three-dimensional (3D) finite element model using the PAK finite element code. In this paper, the theoretical derivation of the 3D muscle model was firstly described. After presenting the method of establishing the finite element programme, a case example of studying the mechanical response of a frog gastrocnemius muscle was used to illustrate the applicability of the proposed methodology. The effects of the muscle fatigue on the deformation as well as the stress and strain distribution of the frog muscle subject to a cyclic activation function have been determined. An experiment capturing the real-time shape change of a frog muscle was also conducted to assess the applicability of the proposed method. A comparison between the deformed shapes of the predictive model and the frog muscles was also made. It was shown that the method is capable of providing a reasonable model for describing the mechanical behaviour of skeletal muscles. 相似文献

The preform design in metal forging plays a key role in improving product quality, such as ensuring defect-free property and proper metal flow. In industry, preforms are generally designed by the iterative trial-and-error approach. This approach, however, leads not only to the increase of significant tool cost but also to the extended down-time of the production equipment. It is thus necessary to reduce time and man power through an effective method of preform design. In this paper, the equi-potential lines designed in the electric field are introduced to find an appropriate preform shape. The equi-potential lines generated between two conductors of different voltages show similar trends for the minimum work paths between the undeformed shape and the deformed shape. Based on this similarity, the equi-potential lines obtained by the arrangement of the initial and final shapes are utilized for the design of the preform, and then the artificial neural network is used to find the range of initial volume and potential value of the electric field. 相似文献

This paper presents a new transient algorithm to couple sub-domains having non-matching time and space interfaces. The time integrators in each of the sub-domains are of the Newmark family but can be different. The method is also developed for non-linear explicit transient computations for which the time steps are not constant.
