Radiation and thermal effects on cobalt retention by Mexican aluminosilicates

Thermal and radiation effects on the leaching of cobalt from two cobalt exchanged zeolites and one clay were determined. The cobalt exchanged aluminosilicates were heated at different temperatures (500, 700, 900 and 1100 °C), and the materials were then treated with NaCl (1 and 5 M) and HNO₃ (0.001 and 1 M) solutions to determine the leaching behavior of cobalt from the materials. Cobalt showed greater stability when the materials were heated at the highest temperature. The unheated samples and those heated at 1100 °C were gamma irradiated, and it was found that cobalt leaching from gamma irradiated aluminosilicates was higher than that for non-irradiated materials.     

凝胶中罗丹明6G的荧光性质

用溶胶—凝胶法将不同浓度的罗丹明6G(Rhodamine 6G,R6G)染料掺入硅凝胶块和涂层薄膜中,用倍频 YAG 激光(0.53μm)做激发光源研究其荧光性质。对凝胶块、凝胶薄膜和乙醇溶液中 R6G 的荧光光谱进行了比较,研究了温度和 R6G 浓度对荧光性质的影响。实验结果表明,当R6G/SiO_2摩尔比高达 10~(-4)时,凝胶薄膜中的 R6G 分子仍不发生聚集现象;在475K 以下,积分荧光强度随温度的变化表现出很好的重现性;当温度高于600K 时,荧光消失,表明染料 R6G 已完全分解。

Matthews has made outstanding contributions as an educator. He developed and has directed the foremost postdoctoral training program in clinical neuropsychology in the world and has established standards for the training of clinical neuropsychologists. He has also served as a member of the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology since its inception in 1981 and has been one of its examiners for the same period of time. Immobilization of penicillin G acylase on a composite carrier with a biocompatible microenvironment of chitosan

BACKGROUND: Penicillin G acylase (PGA) has been used extensively in the β‐lactam antibiotics industry. As a biocatalyst, it is better to use immobilized enzymes than free enzymes, therefore, the immobilization of PGA on a composite carrier consisting of an adsorbent resin and biocompatible chitosan were investigated. RESULTS: First, FT‐IR, BET and SEM analysis confirmed the structure of the composite carrier. Then, the immobilization process was optimized. The activity of the immobilized PGA on the chitosan–resin (IP‐CsR) was about 1300 U (g dry carrier)^?1 with a protein loading of about 27 mg (g dry carrier)^?1. Compared with the immobilized PGA on unmodified resin (IP‐R), the specific activity of IP‐CsR was enhanced about 2‐fold. The operational, thermal and pH stability were investigated. IP‐CsR maintained more than 75% initial activity after 35 cycles, while IP‐R was active for only 10 cycles. The half‐life at 50 °C increased from 75 to 300 min and the most stable pH was changed from 8.0 to 5.5. CONCLUSION: A novel composite carrier containing a biocompatible chitosan was very effective for PGA immobilization. Copyright © 2008 Society of Chemical Industry     

Assessing Time‐Reversibility Under Minimal Assumptions

Abstract. This article considers a simple procedure for assessing whether a weakly dependent univariate stochastic process is time‐reversible. Our approach is based on a simple index of the deviation from zero of the median of the one‐dimensional marginal law of differenced data. An attractive feature of the method is that it requires no moment assumptions. Instead of relying on Gaussian asymptotic approximations, we consider using subsampling and resampling methods to construct confidence intervals for the time‐reversibility parameter, and show that such inference procedures are asymptotically valid under a mild mixing condition. The small‐sample properties of the proposed procedures are examined by means of Monte Carlo experiments and an application to real‐world data is also presented.
