A detailed transport model for the Multitrack setup, a TAP-like system, has been developed, which allows further analysis of adsorption, diffusion and catalysis phenomena. This includes the transport in the void part between the pulse valve and the reactor inlet. The effects of viscous flow and thermal transpiration, aspects that have not been studied in detail before for this type of setup, have been analyzed. A new expression for the modeling of the output signal is proposed depending on the positioning of the MS detector used in the study. The transport parameters of the model have been estimated by the analysis of the experimental pulse responses of the empty reactor system and the reactor charged with an inert packed bed. The proposed model reproduces the experimental pulse responses very well, and therefore can be extended to study systems with reacting or adsorbing beds by including the corresponding rate equations for the processes occurring in the bed of particles. 相似文献

Supercritical impregnation of Radiata pine with ethyl acetate and decanal using CO2 as carrier solvent has been studied at pilot plant scale. Radiata pine is one of the most common wood species that is originally from Australia and is widely grown in Spain and Portugal and ethyl acetate and decanal were selected as organic compounds.Some experiences were carried out to obtain the optimal operating conditions for the supercritical impregnation process. Experiments were conducted at pressures of 7–15 MPa, temperatures of 35–50 °C and solvent flow rate between 1.5 and 3.5 kg/h. The results of this study have indicated that the treatment gives much better preservative penetration and retention operating with low pressures (7.5 MPa), low temperatures (close to 35 °C) and moderate CO2 flow rate (3.5 kg/h) in the selected operating range. Moreover, a simple mathematical model of two adjustable parameters (external mass transfer coefficient and partition coefficient) has demonstrated to fit the experimental impregnation curves with reasonable accuracy (average absolute deviation, 3–10%). 相似文献

Due to the complexity of the machine tool structure and the cutting process, the dynamics of machining processes are still not completely understood. This is especially true due to the demand of high-speed machining to increase productivity. In order to model and control these complex processes, new approaches, which can represent complex phenomenon combined with learning ability, are needed. The combined neural–fuzzy approach appears to be ideally suited for this purpose. In this paper, the recently developed fuzzy adaptive network (FAN) is used to model surface roughness in turning operations. The FAN network has both the learning ability of neural network and linguistic representation of complex, not well-understood, vague phenomenon. Furthermore, it can continuously improve the initially obtained rough model based on the daily operating data. To illustrate this approach, a model representing the influences of machining parameters on surface roughness is established and then the model is verified by the use of the results of pilot experiments. Recent natural disasters indicate that modern technologies for environmental monitoring, modeling, and forecasting are not well integrated with cross-level social responses in many hazard-management systems. This research addresses this problem through a Java-based multi-agent prototype system, GeoAgent-based Knowledge System (GeoAgentKS). This system allows: (1) computer representation of institutional regulations and behavioral rules used by multiple social institutions and individuals in cross-level human–environment interactions, (2) integration of this representation with scientific modeling of dynamic hazard development, and (3) application of automated reasoning that suggests to users the appropriate actions for supporting cooperative social responses. This paper demonstrates the software architecture of GeoAgentKS and presents such an integrated approach by modeling the drought management processes in Central Pennsylvania, USA. The results show that it is possible to use GeoAgentKS to represent multilevel human–environment interactions and to use those interactions as input to decision making in hazard management. 相似文献

Impact of the discrete dopants on device performance is crucial in determining the behavior of nanoscale semiconductor devices. Atomistic quantum mechanical device simulation for studying the effect of discrete dopants on device's physical quantities is urgent. This work explores the physics of discrete-dopant-induced characteristic fluctuations in 16-nm fin-typed field effect transistor (FinFET) devices. Discrete dopants are statistically positioned in the three-dimensional channel region to examine associated carrier's characteristic, concurrently capturing “dopant concentration variation” and “dopant position fluctuation”. An experimentally validated quantum hydrodynamic device simulation was conducted to investigate the potential profile and threshold voltage fluctuations of the 16-nm FinFET. This paper deals with the behavior of virtual environments from the collaboration point-of-view, in which actors (human or virtual beings) interact and collaborate by means of interdependent tasks. In this sense, actors may realize tasks that are dependent on tasks performed by other actors, while the interdependencies between tasks (through resource management and temporal relations) delineate the overall behavior of a virtual environment. Our main goal is to propose an approach for the coordination of those behaviors. Initially a generic study of possible interdependencies between collaborative tasks is presented, followed by the formal modeling (using Petri Nets) of coordination mechanisms for those dependencies. In order to implement such mechanisms, an architecture of reusable and pluggable coordination components is also introduced. These components are used in an implementation of a multi-user videogame. The presented approach is a concrete step to create virtual societies of actors that collaborate to reach common goals without the risk of getting involved in conflicting or repetitive tasks. 相似文献

There are usually no on-line product quality measurements in batch and semi-batch processes, which make the process control
task very difficult. In this paper, a model for predicting the end-product quality from the available on-line process variables
at the early stage of a batch is developed using partial least squares (PLS) method. Furthermore, some available mid-course
quality measurements are used to rectify the final prediction results. To deal with the problem that the process may change
with time, recursive PLS (RPLS) algorithm is used to update the model based on the new batch data and the old model parameters
after each batch. An application to a simulated batch MMA polymerization process demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed
method.
