Self-Reported Gambling-Related Suicidality Among Gambling Helpline Callers.

Problem gamblers often attribute suicidal ideation or attempts to their gambling. Logistic regression analyses were applied to data from problem gamblers (N = 986) calling a helpline. Problem gamblers reporting gambling-related suicidality (n = 252; 25.6%) were more likely than those denying it (n = 734; 74.4%) to acknowledge family, financial, legal, and mental and substance-related problems. Of problem gamblers acknowledging gambling-related suicidality, those reporting gambling-related suicide attempts (n = 53; 21.5%) were more likely than those denying them (n = 193; 78.5%) to acknowledge gambling-related illegal behaviors, mental health and substance abuse treatment, and family histories of alcohol problems, and were less likely to report prior gambling treatment. Actual versus self-reported scholastic achievement of litigating postconcussion and severe closed head injury claimants.

Psychologists typically rely on patients' self-report of premorbid status in litigated settings. The authors examined the fidelity between self-reported and actual scholastic performance in litigating head injury claimants. The data indicated late postconcussion syndrome (LPCS) and severe closed head injury litigants retrospectively inflated scholastic performance to a greater degree than nonlitigating control groups. The LPCS group showed the highest magnitude of grade inflation, but discrepancy scores did not significantly correlate with a battery of malingering measures or with objective cerebral dysfunction. These findings support previous studies, which showed self-report is not a reliable basis for estimation of preinjury cognitive status. 本文根据现代化矿山安全生产、安全管理要求,提出了建立地下矿山的可视化和漫游技术。针对矿山安全教育与培训、事故应急救援、安全生产、安全管理的组织优化,介绍了VRML对地下矿山系统的模拟以及VRML与Java语言结合,实现最优路径漫游;就当前外三维虚拟场景都仅提供简单的导航功能,提出了将最优路径算法引入到三维场景的思想,将二维平面与三维虚拟场景相结合,实现了三维场景中的最优路径漫游,增加了系统智能型,增强了虚拟场景与用户的交互性。     

Spiritual Transcendence as a Predictor of Psychosocial Outcome From an Outpatient Substance Abuse Program.

Does the Spiritual Transcendence Scale (STS; R. L. Piedmont, 1999) predict psychosocial outcomes from an outpatient substance abuse program? Self-report data on symptoms, personality, and coping resources were obtained for 73 consecutive admissions (57 men and 16 women; ages 19-66 years) at intake and again from the 56 (47 men and 9 women) who completed treatment. Controlling for relevant demographic variables, pretreatment STS scores were significantly related to self-ratings at posttreatment. The STS predicted treatment outcomes over and above the contribution of the five-factor model of personality. Significant partial correlations between pretreatment STS scores and therapist ratings of treatment outcome were also obtained. Spiritual Transcendence, especially the facets of Universality and Connectedness, appears to play a significant role in substance abuse recovery.
