Grand theories of personality cannot be integrated.

Comments on the original article "A New Big Five: Fundamental Principles for an Integrative Science of Personality," by Dan P. McAdams and Jennifer L. Pals (see record 2006-03947-002). McAdams and Pals (April 2006) presented a new model to integrate the field of personality psychology. Cultural and evolutionary factors interact with an individual's basic traits, characteristic adaptations, and life narratives, which in turn are linked to roles, demands, and behaviors. The current authors welcome McAdams and Pals's (2006) model for providing a way to integrate much of the previously disparate empirical findings in personality psychology. However, the current authors also think that McAdams and Pals (2006) overstated the inclusiveness of the model, and more generally, the current authors dispute their assertion that the grand theories of personality can be integrated within a single model. The validity of psychophysiological detection of information with the Guilty Knowledge Test: A meta-analytic review.

The authors performed a meta-analysis based on 169 conditions, gathered from 80 laboratory studies, to estimate the validity of the Guilty Knowledge Test (GKT) with the electrodermal measure. The over-all average effect size was 1.55, but there were considerable variations among studies. In particular, mock-crime studies produced the highest average effect size (2.09). Three additional moderators, were identified: Motivational instructions, deceptive ("no") verbal responses, and the use of at least 5 questions were associated with enhanced validity. Finally, a set of 10 studies that best approximated applications of the GKT under optimal conditions produced an average effect size of 3.12. The authors discuss factors that might limit the generalizability of these results and recommend further research of the GKT in realistic setups. 四种别藻蓝蛋白三聚体的时间分辨荧光光谱研究

研究了从Ａｎａｂａｎａｖａｒｉｂｉｌｉｓ中提取的４种别藻蓝蛋白ＡＰＣＩ，ＡＰＣＩＩ，ＡＰＣＩＩ及ＡＰＣＢ三聚体的稳态光谱和皮秒荧光光谱。采用Ｍｏｎｔｅ－Ｃａｒｌｏ方法对瞬态荧光光谱进行拟合，实验结果表明：ＡＰＣＩ荧光有两个带，其中第一个带位于６６２ｎｍ，有两个时间组分：３５．８ｐｓ和１．６７ｎｓ；第二个带位于６８０ｎｍ，有两个时间组分：３４．２ｐｓ和１．６４ｎｓ；ＡＰＣＩＩ瞬态荧光位于６６０ｎｍ，有两个时间组分：２０．４ｐｓ和１．６４ｎｓ；ＡＰＣＩＩ瞬态荧光位于６６０ｎｍ，有两个时间组分：２３．８ｐｓ和１．７６ｎｓ；ＡＰＣＢ瞬态荧光有两个带，其中第一个带位于６６２ｎｍ，有两个时间组分：３６．６ｐｓ和１．４５ｎｓ；第二个带位于６８０ｎｍ，有两个时间组分：２５．８ｐｓ和１．６２ｎｓ。实验结果一方面说明了藻胆体核内４种别藻蓝蛋白形成能量传递的两条途径；另一方面瞬态荧光解叠结果揭示了ＡＰＣＩ和ＡＰＣＢ三聚体内能量传递的超快过程。     

反应堆材料热物性数据库管理系统

衡量一个数据库的质量，不以要看其所包含的数据还应考虑数据库管理系统的使用功能。为了更有效地实施ＩＡＥＡ的ＣＲＰ（ＣｏｏｒｄｉｎａｔｅｄＲｅｓｅａｒｃｈＰｒｏｇｒａｍｍｅ）中有关建立反应堆材料热物性数据库的计划，并考虑到能使所收集的数据方便地为用户服务和进行广泛的国际交流，为此设计并编制了该数据库的软件管理系统ＴＰＳＹＳ。这个系统可在ＩＢＭ－ＰＣ（３８６，４８６）等兼容机上运行，采用人机对话、菜单提示、全屏幕操作。其主要功能有：数据库维护、数据检索、与大型计算程序ＭＡＴ－ＰＲＯ接口和与国际上现有的数据库ＴＨＥＲＳＹＳＴ接口。
