Some approximate indexing schemes have been recently proposed in metric spaces which sort the objects in the database according to pseudo-scores. It is known that (1) some of them provide a very good trade-off between response time and accuracy, and (2) probability-based pseudo-scores can provide an optimal trade-off in range queries if the probabilities are correctly estimated. Based on these facts, we propose a probabilistic enhancement scheme which can be applied to any pseudo-score based scheme. Our scheme computes probability-based pseudo-scores using pseudo-scores obtained from a pseudo-score based scheme. In order to estimate the probability-based pseudo-scores, we use the object-specific parameters in logistic regression and learn the parameters using MAP (Maximum a Posteriori) estimation and the empirical Bayes method. We also propose a technique which speeds up learning the parameters using pseudo-scores. We applied our scheme to the two state-of-the-art schemes: the standard pivot-based scheme and the permutation-based scheme, and evaluated them using various kinds of datasets from the Metric Space Library. The results showed that our scheme outperformed the conventional schemes, with regard to both the number of distance computations and the CPU time, in all the datasets. 相似文献

We propose an efficient framework to realistically render 3D faces with a reduced set of points. First, a robust active appearance model is presented to detect facial features in the projected faces under different illumination conditions. Then, an adaptive simplification of 3D faces is proposed to reduce the number of points, yet preserve the detected facial features. Finally, the point model is rendered directly, without such additional processing as parameterization of skin texture. Based on various similarities between the propagation natures of light and sound, a generalized ray-tracing algorithm for integrated visual and auditory rendering is proposed in room acoustics. In this algorithm, both the physical model of sound and the physical model of light are treated. Furthermore, a virtual environmental system using this generalized integrated algorithm is proposed for acoustical design and evaluation of auditoriums. These theories will improve the reliability and feasibility of the initial computer acoustic design of the building. Suttie is seen as a background influence behind the British school of psychoanalysis, and his ideas pervade that school and therefore late-modern notions of the mind. The author describes the formation of Suttie's independent theory, and argues that his project was expressly ideological, as he tried to counter what he saw as the reactionary and disruptive influence of Freud's classical theory. Computer vision has been extensively adopted in industry for the last two decades. It enhances productivity and quality management, and is flexibility, efficient, fast, inexpensive, reliable and robust. This study presents a new translation, rotation and scaling-free object recognition method for 2D objects. The proposed method comprises two parts: KRA feature extractor and GRA classifier. The KRA feature extractor employs K-curvature, re-sampling, and autocorrelation transformation to extract unique features of objects, and then gray relational analysis (GRA) classifies the extracted invariant features. The boundary of the digital object was first represented as the form of the K-curvature over a given region of support, and was then re-sampled and transformed with autocorrelation function. After that, the extracted features own the unique property that is invariant to translation, rotation and scaling. To verify and validate the proposed method, 50 synthetic and 50 real objects were digitized as standard patterns, and 10 extra images of each object (test images) which were taken at different positions, orientations and scales, were acquired and compared with the standard patterns. The experimental results reveal that the proposed method with either GRA or MD methods is effective and reliable for part recognition. 相似文献
