In this paper we investigate the performance of a combined estimation/equalization technique for the mobile radio channel, assuming a GSM-recommended transmission format (narrowband TDMA with midamble, recommendation 5.04) and MSK modulation scheme. Channel estimation is performed via correlation of the received signal with a suitably modulated replica of the transmitted midamble. Equalization is then obtained by means of a maximum likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) scheme in the form of a so-called Viterbi equalizer. Our analysis provides theoretical results concerning the bit error rate (BER) attained by the receiver for a given stationary multipath channel model. In a mobile satellite system with a frequency reuse cellular configuration, significant co-channel interference can be experienced due to the antenna side-lobe level. The signal will be subjected not only to its own fading, but also to the effect of the varying degree of fading on the co-channel interferer, and this interference will behave differently in the up and in the down-link. Mobile LiDAR surveying is currently one of the most popular topics in road inspections. This non-destructive technology is suitable for collecting infrastructure inspection data related to 3D geometry and radiometry. Ground penetrating radar (GPR) is traditionally used to measure pavement thickness, though this technique requires reference data (cores) when surveying in a ground-coupled configuration.Within this work, a new alternative method to GPR has been studied for determining pavement layer thicknesses and volumes. We analyze the performance of mobile LiDAR technology in this scope and test its accuracy compared to the results obtained with a ground-coupled 2.3-GHz GPR antenna. The findings presented here are based on field data collected from the Ourense–Celanova highway, in Northwestern Galicia. The results showed the potential of the Lynx Mobile Mapper to obtain the designed pavement thickness of newly constructed roadways with errors that are always less than 1.5 cm. 相似文献

This paper proposes a research direction to study the development of ‘artificial social intelligence’ of autonomous robots which should result in ‘individualized robot societies’. The approach is highly inspired by the ‘social intelligence hypothesis’, derived from the investigation of primate societies, suggesting that primate intelligence originally evolved to solve social problems and was only later extended to problems outside the social domain. We suggest that it might be a general principle in the evolution of intelligence, applicable to both natural and artificial systems. Arguments are presented why the investigation of social intelligence for artifacts is not only an interesting research issue for the study of biological principles, but may be a necessary prerequisite for those scenarios in which autonomous robots are integrated into human societies, interacting and communicating both with humans and with each other. As a starting point to study experimentally the development of robots' ‘social relationships’, the investigation of collection and use of body images by means of imitation is proposed. A specific experimental setup which we use to test the theoretical considerations is described. The paper outlines in what kind of applications and for what kind of robot group structures social intelligence might be advantageous. 相似文献

In this paper a simple, robust and efficient method for local obstacle avoidance is described. It takes into account both the geometric and the kinematic properties of the robot in order to calculate allowed and forbidden steer angles.
The algorithm has been implemented and extensively tested on our mobile robot. Results have shown that the robot is able to operate robustly in unknown and uprepared in-door environments for extended periods. 相似文献
