To find new ways for reducing the potential of palm oil to form 3‐monochloropropane‐1,2‐diol (3‐MCPD) and glycidyl esters during refining it is helpful to know more about the influence of different precursors like diacylglycerols (DAGs) and monoacylglycerols (MAGs), lecithin, and chlorine containing compounds. After adding increasing amounts of the different precursors to a model oil obtained by removal of polar compounds from crude palm oil and heating the mixture under standardized conditions to 240°C for 2 h the contents of 3‐MCPD and glycidyl esters were analyzed according to the standard procedure of DGF C‐VI 18 (10). DAGs and MAGs were found to increase the potential of palm oil to form 3‐MCPD and glycidyl esters, but refined lecithin showed no influence. Sodium chloride as well as tetra‐n‐butylammoniumchloride (TBAC) led to higher contents of the esters. Whereas the addition of TBAC raised the amount of glycidyl esters as well as 3‐MCPD esters, sodium chloride largely raised the amount of 3‐MCPD esters. An addition of 5 mmol of sodium carbonate/kg model oil spiked with sodium chloride reduced the amount of glycidyl esters almost completely; the 3‐MCPD esters were reduced by 50%. About 1 mmol sodium hydrogen carbonate/kg oil reduced both 3‐MCPD and glycidyl esters almost completely. Practical applications : For the mitigation of the formation of 3‐MCPD esters and related compounds in refined edible oils, it is helpful to know more about the effect of different possible precursors. Using a broader data basis, it is possible to adopt the oil processing but especially the choice of the raw material to the demands of the market for lower contents of the esters in the refined products.  相似文献

This paper aims to evaluate the cylinder head carbon deposit from diesel engine fuelled by four samples of diesel fuel emulsions containing 0%; 5%; 10% and 15% vol. water and 20% Palm Oil Methyl Ester (POME) were subjected to thermogravimetric analysis (TGA/DSC) in air medium. The deposit build up processes were performed on a single-cylinder direct-injection diesel engine for period of 25 h for each set of test fuel under constant speed 2500 rpm. The TGA system was used and then correlated with elemental analysis as well as infrared spectra for microscopic observations. It has been found that, as the water increases in fuel, less aromatic and less reactive of deposits would be formed. Therefore, such method of analyses can be used as an indicator to verify the stability of carbon deposit inside the combustion chamber that could substantiate the applicability of a particular fuel to be accepted.  相似文献

In this work, the effects of torrefaction on the physiochemical properties of empty fruit bunches (EFB), palm mesocarp fiber (PMF) and palm kernel shell (PKS) are investigated. The change of properties of these biomass residues such as CHNS mass fraction, gross calorific value (GCV), mass and energy yields and surface structure when subjected to torrefaction process are studied. In this work, these materials with particle size in the range of 355–500 μm are torrefied under light torrefaction conditions (200, 220 and 240 °C) and severe torrefaction conditions (260, 280 and 300 °C). TGA is used to monitor the mass loss during torrefaction while tube furnace is used to produce significant amount of products for chemical analyses. In general, the study reveals torrefaction process of palm oil biomass can be divided into two main stages through the observation on the mass loss distribution. The first stage is the dehydration process at the temperature below than 105 °C where the mass loss is in the range of 3–5%. In the second stage, the decomposition reaction takes place at temperature of 200–300 °C. Furthermore, the study reveals that carbon mass fraction and gross calorific value (GCV) increase with the increase of torrefaction temperature but the O/C ratio, hydrogen and oxygen mass fractions decrease for all biomass. Among the biomass, torrefied PKS has the highest carbon mass fraction of 55.6% when torrefied at 300 °C while PMF has the highest GCV of 23.73 MJ kg−1 when torrefied at the same temperature. Both EFB and PMF produce lower mass fraction than PKS when subjected to same torrefaction temperature. In terms of energy yield, PKS produces 86–92% yield when torrefied at light to severe torrefaction conditions, until 280 °C. However, both EFB and PMF only produce 70–78% yield at light torrefaction conditions, until 240 °C. Overall, the mass loss of 45–55% of these biomasses is observed when subjected to torrefaction process. Moreover, SEM images reveal that torrefaction has more severe impact on surface structure of EFB and PMF than that of PKS especially under severe torrefaction conditions. The study concludes that the torrefaction process of these biomass has to be optimized based on the type of the biomass in order to offset the mass loss of these materials through the process and increase the energy value of the solid product.  相似文献

A series of experiments were conducted to produce carbon molecular sieves (CMS) through carbon deposition from a locally available palm shell of Tenera type for separating gaseous mixtures. The process involves three stages; carbonization, physical activation with steam, and carbon deposition by using benzene cracking technique. Carbonization of the dried palm shells was occurred at 900°C for duration of 1 h followed by steam activation at 830°C for 30–420 min to obtain activated carbons with different degree of burn-offs. The highest micropore volume of activated carbon obtained at 53.2% burn-off was used as a precursor for CMS production. Subsequent carbon deposition of the activated sample at temperature range from 600 to 900°C for 30 min has resulted in a series of CMSs with different selectivities of CO2/CH4 and O2/N2. The kinetic adsorption isotherm of CO2, CH4, O2 and N2 at room temperature also presented in this work.  相似文献

Tocotrienols, a group of important phytonutrients of palm oil, have been shown to possess antioxidant, anticancer, neuroprotectory, and anti‐inflammatory activities. In this study, our objective was to examine the protective effects of tocotrienol‐rich fraction (TRF) from palm oil on chronic carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)‐induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Animals were subjected to vehicle only (control), CCl4 only, CCl4 + 100 mg/kg silymarin (silymarin), CCl4 + 25 mg/kg TRF (TRF‐25) and CCl4 + 50 mg/kg TRF (TRF‐50) treatments for a period of 8 wks. Results showed that daily oral administration of TRF‐25, TRF‐50, and silymarin prevented the elevation of serum glutamate oxalate transaminase (sGOT) and glutamate pyruvate transaminase (sGPT), liver thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), triglycerides and total cholesterol levels, as well as enhancing the liver catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) levels in rats with hepatotoxicity. At 50 mg/kg, the hepatoprotection of TRF was as good as or better than silymarin (100 mg/kg) in normalization of oxidative stress parameters in liver injury rats. These results suggest that TRF exerts effective protection against chronic CCl4‐induced hepatic injury in rats, and its mechanism of action could be related to reducing oxidative stress in the liver tissue.  相似文献

The use of an agricultural waste product, palm kernel shell, as a fuel for firing bricks is explored as a means of reducing environmental degradation and depletion of scarce firewood in Ghana. A simple but efficient methodology of clamp firing bricks using the new fuel is developed and tested. The resulting bricks are analysed for physical properties and suitability for construction use. The viability of palm kernel shell as a fuel for small-scale brick industries is considered. On etudie actuellement au Ghana les possibilites d'utilisation d'un dechet agricole, en l'occurrence, les coquilles de noix de palme, comme combustible dans les briqueteries; une telle solution permettrait de reduire la degradation de l'environnement et de diminuer l'appauvrissement des maigres reserves en bois de chauffage du pays. A cet effet, on met au point une methodologie simple mais efficace de cuisson des briques en brulant des dechets de coquilles de noix de palme. On analyse les proprietes physiques de ces briques et on verifie qu'elles conviennent a la construction. On etudie la viabilite de la coquille de noix de palme pour l'alimentation en combustible des petites briqueteries.  相似文献

磁性固体碱催化剂在棕榈油制备生物柴油中的应用研究   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
采用煅烧法制得磁性固体碱催化剂CaO/Fe3O4,考察了该催化剂催化24℃分提棕榈油与甲醇酯交换反应制备生物柴油的最佳反应条件及催化剂使用寿命。结果表明,最佳反应条件为醇油摩尔比8、催化剂用量4%、反应温度65℃、反应时间2.0 h。在该条件下制得的生物柴油中脂肪酸甲酯含量为98.2%,其性能指标均达到国家标准GB/T-20828-2007的要求。在棕榈油制备生物柴油过程中重复利用催化剂CaO/Fe3O4进行酯交换反应8次,产物中脂肪酸甲酯含量均在96.5%以上。  相似文献

1,3-Dipalmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycerol (POP) and 1,2-dioleoyl-3-palmitoyl-rac-glycerol (OOP) are two major molecular species that account for roughly half of the total triacylglycerols in palm oil. The binary phase behavior of a POP/OOP mixture plays an important role in the crystallization of palm oil. We conducted thermodynamic and kinetic studies of OOP and its mixtures with POP using differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction with a conventional generator and synchrotron radiation. We found that OOP has two polymorphs, α as a metastable form and β′ as the most stable form, and that the two forms are stacked in a triple-chain-length structure. The POP/OOP mixtures exhibited immiscible eutectic natures in both their metastable and their most stable states, in contrast to POP/1,2-dipalmitoyl-3-oleoyl-rac-glycerol and POP/1,3-dioleoyl-2-palmitoyl-sn-glycerol mixtures, in which molecular compounds of a double-chain-length structure were formed. A time-resolved synchrotron radiation X-ray diffraction study undertaken during the cooling and heating processes indicated that the α and β′ forms of the POP and OOP fractions crystallized and melted in separate manners, and that crystallization of the β′ form and the polymorphic transformation from α to β′ of POP and OOP are promoted in the presence of another component. The absence of molecular compound crystals in the binary mixtures of POP/OOP is explained by taking into account the molecular interactions of acyl chain packing, glycerol conformation, and methyl end stacking, among which glycerol conformation appeared to be most influential.  相似文献
