This paper deals with the free vibration of open, laminated composite, circular cylindrical panels having a rectangular plan-form and all their edges free of external tractions. The material arrangement of the shell panels considered may vary from this of the single isotropic (or special orthotropic) layer to that of a general angle-ply lay-up. The analysis is based on the application of the Ritz approach on the energy functional of the Love-type version of a unified shear deformable shell theory. A through-thickness parabolic distribution of the transverse shear deformation is mainly assumed but, for comparison purposes, numerical results that are based on the assumptions of the classical Love-type shell theory are also presented. The Ritz method is a powerful analytical technique since, provided that a complete set of trial functions is employed, it can provide the exact solution of the problem considered in infinite series forms. The mathematical formulation is therefore presented in a general form, appropriate for any set of basis functions. The variational approach is, however, finally applied in conjunction with a complete functional basis made of the appropriate admissible orthonormal polynomials.  相似文献

Robust techniques for best approximation by polynomials matching up to given order the Taylor series at {0} are given. Much cheaper robust techniques giving near best results in favorable cases are also given for the same problems. A heuristic technique for matching only the function value at {0} when it is an error extremum is put on a sound theoretical basis and offers possibilities of making rounding error and analytic error cancel, thus reducing their effect.  相似文献

A recent paper in this journal, by Abdel-Gawad, Atiya, and Darwish, presents a method of solving a system Boolean equations using the polynomial algebra invented by George Boole in 1854. The authors do not mention Boole, however, or the modern applications of this algebra. Their method entails reduction of the given system to a triangular system, which is solved by back-substitution. We show that the solutions of the triangular system include all those of the given system, but may include others that do not satisfy the given system.  相似文献

对于一般的 q- 1维正规单纯形利益区域和多重线性多项式模型 ,利用n(≤ q)阶多重线性多项式的最优设计 ,采用了极端顶点设计及棱中心设计方案 ,选用 16个实验数据 ,建立石蜡在两种添加剂的作用下针入度性质的 3阶多重线性多项式的针入度拟合方程 :f(x1,x2 ,x3 ) =- 172 .5 9+5 96 8.91x1- 5 830 .5 7x21+2 5 0 4 .4 4x3 1- 32 .4 9x2 。并对其协同效应、对抗效应和可加效应以及变化趋势进行了研究 ,结果表明 :动物蜡添加剂对石蜡针入度的影响不显著 ,而植物蜡添加剂对石蜡针入度的影响显著 ,并可以利用拟合方程对添加剂作用于石蜡的针入度的物理特性进行预测。这一结果对石蜡新产品的研究具有参考价值。  相似文献

The computational complexity of general change of basis algorithms from one bivariate polynomial basis of degree n to another bivariate polynomial basis of degree n using matrix multiplication is O(n4). Applying blossoming and duality, we derive change of basis algorithms with computational complexity O(n3) between two important classes of polynomial bases used for representing surfaces in CAGD: B-bases and L-bases. Change of basis algorithms for B-bases follow from their blossoming property; change of basis algorithms for L-bases follow from the duality between L-bases and B-bases. The Bézier and multinomial bases are special cases of both B-bases and L-bases, so these algorithms can be used to convert between the Bézier and multinomial forms. We also show that the bivariate Horner evaluation algorithm for the multinomial basis is dual to the bivariate de Boor evaluation algorithm for B-patches.  相似文献

Rayleigh-Ritz method has been employed to obtain approximations to frequencies and mode shapes of circular plates with variable thickness. The boundary is either clamped, simply supported or completely free. The main distinguishing feature of the present investigations is that the thickness approximation is done by measuring thickness at a suitable set of sample points and then using interpolation to get the approximating polynomial. Thus, unlike other methods already available in literature where either linear or quadratic variation of thickness has been examined, here one can have a polynomial of arbitrary degree depending upon the number and locations of the sample points. The results have been tabulated in a large number of cases and three-dimensional mode shapes have been plotted for some selected cases. Comparison has been made with available results. A short tables are also given to depict the rate of convergence with the order of approximation.  相似文献

The stochastic response of a rigid platform is quasi-static and can be represented as a linear combination of nonlinear random wave loadings. In this study two efficient probabilistic approaches are respectively presented to estimate the higher-order statistics of mildly and highly non-Gaussian structural responses. The eigenvalue analysis of structural quasi-static response in the first approach is based on the expansion of the response in terms of independent Gaussian random variables. The second approach extends the earlier quasi-static analysis procedures to obtain the higher moments of response by including current effects and inundation effects. The interested prediction of extreme responses during a short-term storm, by mean upcrossing rates and mean extremes, can then be achieved by applying Winterstein’s functional transformation. These quantities are found in good agreement with not only Monte Carlo simulation results but also the extreme values obtained using a recently proposed method by Naess et al. in 2007.  相似文献

The perturbation method is applied to determine approximately the mean, variance, skewness and kurtosis of the transient and stationary response of nonlinear systems driven by polynomials of filtered Poisson processes. The analysis is based on the classical perturbation method, the Itô differentiation formula, and properties of the response of linear systems subjected to polynomials of filtered Poisson processes. Two examples are presented to demostrate the efficiency and accuracy of this approximate analysis.  相似文献

The computation of the greatest common divisor (GCD) of many polynomials is a nongeneric problem. Techniques defining “approximate GCD” solutions have been defined, but the proper definition of the “approximate” GCD, and the way we can measure the strength of the approximation has remained open. This paper uses recent results on the representation of the GCD of many polynomials, in terms of factorisation of generalised resultants, to define the notion of “approximate GCD” and define the strength of any given approximation by solving an optimisation problem. The newly established framework is used to evaluate the performance of alternative procedures which have been used for defining approximate GCDs.  相似文献
