A fuzzy multicriteria evaluation system for the assessment of tunnels vis-à-vis surface roads: the WPMA case—part II

The Fuzzy Multicriteria Evaluation System (FUMES) is applied on a real evaluation problem such as the Western Peripheral Motorway of Athens (WPMA). The lack of a formal development model of the study area suggested an evaluation strategy, which is characterized by the high uncertainty of the evaluation environment. This has resulted in using judgments when quantitative information on the performance of the tunnel or the surface road was not available. It also resulted in employing a relatively large number of alternative scenarios to deal with the different policy goals. The attempted impact analysis generated crisp and fuzzy scores for each competing alternative. The different scenarios under which the various alternatives were evaluated are of two types: socio-economic and policy scenarios. Subsequently, the criteria weights were computed using the Fuzzy Hierarchical Analysis and the different CBA and MCA methods were applied. Finally, the output of the evaluation determined that the surface road is the most ‘stable’ solution for all the ‘extrovert’ development scenarios, while the tunnel is more preferable for all the ‘introvert’ development scenarios.

Geothermal power production in future electricity markets—A scenario analysis for Germany

Development and diffusion of new renewable energy technologies play a central role in mitigating climate change. In this context, small-scale deep geothermal power has seen growing interest in recent years as an environmentally friendly, non-intermittent energy source with large technical potential. Following the first successful demonstration projects, the German geothermal industry is currently experiencing an internationally unparalleled growth. In this study we explore the factors driving this development, and the role geothermal power production could play in the future of the German electricity market. For this, we apply the scenario technique, based on literature analysis and interviews with companies operating actively in the field. Our findings highlight the importance of political support and framework conditions in the electricity market, with the best prospects in a decentralised energy system based on renewable energy sources, where high investment costs and the risk of discovery failure are balanced by the benefits of low-carbon base load power.

敏捷开发模式的盛行掀起了自动化测试的一轮热潮,测试和开发合作越来越密切。本文研究的自动化测试框 架,将BDD 的敏捷开发理念与软件测试相融合,通过统一的Gherkin 语言定义验收测试标准,帮助业务人员、测试人员和开发 人员形成对需求明确统一的认识,然后通过web driver 测试代码实现可执行的验收测试,以TDD 的方式实现产品代码。该框 架使用Specflow、Selenium 和MsTest 等测试工具,真正实现了自动化测试,大大减少了手工测试的压力,促进开发测试过程中 软件开发涉众之间的沟通,及时得到用户反馈,满足快速发布产品的需求,提升产品质量。     

Maintenance of concrete structures in Japan: current activities

The current situation regarding the maintenance of concrete structures in Japan is reviewed. Firstly, the Standard Specification for Concrete Structures ‘Maintenance’ is introduced. Secondly, the Manual for Maintenance of Pre-stressed Concrete Bridges is explained for pre-stressed concrete bridges. In addition, Recommendations on Design and Construction of Electrochemical Corrosion Protection is briefly presented as the most recent set of recommendations on maintenance.     

积玉桥地区规划方案整合三维空间分析

武昌积玉桥地区位于武汉市"两江四岸"核心景观区内.为保证该滨江地区城市景观的连续性和完整性,需要对该地区2004年陆续报批的多个规划方案进行空间整合,重点对建筑高度、布局形式、沿江整体空间形象等问题进行整体研究和论证.基于VRGIS技术开发的规划方案三维空间景观分析系统能为城市设计控制与规划管理提供科学依据.     

APPLICATION OF RESEARCH ON ECOSYSTEM SERVICES IN LA NDSCAPE PLANNING

Landscape planning adjusts spatial structures and functions by altering the types of land use / land cover and the patterns of landscapes, and thus further impacts ecosystem services. This paper examines the impacts of landscape planning on ecosystem services and draws the conclusion that the control over the types of land use / land cover, the altering of landscape patterns, and the adjustment of landscape functional characteristics could change the type, quality, and performance of ecosystem services, respectively. Through an overall review on the application of ecosystem service evaluation, spatial mapping, and scenario simulation, this paper further concludes their roles in landscape planning: ecosystem service evaluation provides means to ensure scientific landscape planning; spatial mapping serves as a basis to the decision making; and scenario simulation visualizes all kinds of possibilities for an optimal choice. At the same time, such applications in landscape planning practices, ranging from green space planning, ecological conservation redline planning, land use planning to biodiversity protection planning, are exemplified. Finally, this paper summarizes existing research findings and limitations and proposes that future research is expected to study the relationship between landscape planning and ecosystem services, to build a dynamic composite planning framework that can improve ecosystem services, and to propel the research on the tradeoff-and-synergy among ecosystem services in landscape planning.
