In this paper, we try to fill in the gap between theory and practice in production scheduling by defining a new term as “rejection” and treating the corresponding scheduling problem with multi-objective optimization approach. We study a bi-objective single machine scheduling problem with rejection. At the beginning of scheduling time horizon, scheduler needs to decide which job shall be rejected due to the resource constraints regarding two objective functions: minimization of total weighted completion time of accepted jobs and total rejection penalty of rejected jobs. We develop different algorithms to find the best estimation of Pareto-optimal front for this problem. In order to improve the quality of the solutions, on the one hand, and facilitate the process of selecting best solution for the final decision maker, on the other hand, we integrate various dominance criteria into our proposed algorithms. Finally we compare the performance of those methods by testing on a large set of instances and highlight the advantages and weak points of each one. 相似文献

An exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and a series of confirmatory factor analyses were conducted on 17 variables designed to assess different cognitive abilities in a sample of healthy older adults. In the EFA, 4 factors emerged corresponding to language, memory, processing speed, and fluid ability constructs. The results of the confirmatory factor analyses suggested that a 5-factor model with an additional Attention factor improved the fit. The invariance of the 5-factor model was examined across 3 groups: a group of cognitively healthy older adults, a group of patients diagnosed with questionable dementia (QD), and a group of patients diagnosed with probable Alzheimer's disease (AD). Results of the invariance analysis suggest that the model may have configural invariance across the 3 groups but not metric invariance. Specifically, preliminary analyses suggest that the memory construct may represent something different in the QD and AD groups as compared to the healthy older adult group, consistent with the underlying pathology in early AD. Lawrence M. Stolurow died at home in La Jolla, California, on August 14, 2009, at the age of 91. He was professor of education and director of the Center for Educational Experimentation, Development, and Evaluation at the University of Iowa from 1977 to 1989, when he became emeritus professor. Previously, Stolurow held positions at the University of Pittsburgh (1947–1953), the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign (1953–1966), Harvard University (1966 –1971), and the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook (1971–1977). He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on August 3, 1918, the son of Ruth M. and Peter J. Stolurow. This study examined age differences in performance of a complex information search and retrieval task by using a simulated real-world task typical of those performed by customer service representatives. The study also investigated the influence of task experience and the relationships between cognitive abilities and task performance. One hundred seventeen participants from 3 age groups, younger (20–39 years), middle-aged (40–59 years), and older (60–75 years), performed the task for 3 days. Significant age differences were found for all measures of task performance with the exception of navigational efficiency and number of problems correctly navigated per attempt. There were also effects of task experience. The findings also indicated significant direct and indirect relations between component cognitive abilities and task performance.
