Reverse logistics (RL) is a systematic process that manages the flow of products/parts from the point of consumption back to the point of manufacturing for possible recycling, remanufacturing, or disposal. Although the concept of RL is well-known in logistics and supply chain management, the available holistic literature and theory of RL are scarce. This paper surveys current RL literature and identifies the present state of theory in RL by formulating the propositions for strategic factors. The approach used is grounded theory development. The strategic factors are in turn delineated and evaluated in terms of specific sub-factors associated with each factor by the use of interview protocol and within the context of an in-depth analysis of two companies in different industries that are engaged in remanufacturing/recycling operations within RL systems. The analysis of these case studies, using the grounded theory approach, resulted in insights regarding their RL practices. Based on these insights and strategic factors and sub-factors, a framework for effective design and implementation of remanufacturing/recycling operations in RL is provided. This framework allows for the determination of the viability of returned products/parts in the RL system. The findings outline how our RL theory is enhanced and how our understanding of RL practices with respect to remanufacturing/recycling operations is improved. Abstract. Hospital managers regularly are confronted with their patients' demand for increased service performance on the one hand
and tight budgets on the other. As medical technologies influence both the costs and the service spectrum, strategic technology
planning is among the critical tasks in hospital management. This paper addresses the corresponding problem of selecting the
“best” portfolio of medical devices and proposes an appropriate decision support system. It starts with a multiobjective mathematical
programming model that determines the solution space of all efficient portfolios of medical technology investments. The members
of the planning committee with their diverging interests then are supported by their interactive exploration of that space
until they jointly reach a satisfying portfolio and are not willing to make any further compromises between its objective
levels. As one of its salient features the system does not require a priori preference information.

The Journal of Strategic Information Systems (JSIS) was first published December 1991 by Robert (Bob) D. Galliers, its Founding Editor-in-Chief (EiC). Early on Bob invited me to join the JSIS International Editorial Board1 (the Board then being more operational, with members serving as quasi-AEs, an arrangement we’ve reinstituted more recently). I became Pacific Asia Region Editor in 2003, with JSIS shifting from region editors to Senior Editors in 2007, in which role I served the journal through the end of 2018. Mid-2018 Bob and Sirkka (Sirkka Jarvenpaa joined as co-EiC in 2000) jointly decided it was time; and announced they would both step down from their co-EiC roles at the end of that year. In September 2018, I was endorsed by Bob and Sirkka, the Senior Editors and Elsevier, to succeed Bob and Sirkka and assume the role of Editor-in-Chief of JSIS commencing 1 January 2019. I served as Editor-in-Chief through 1 July 2021 after which Yolande Chan and I served as co-Editors-in-Chief. Now the end of 2022, I am stepping down from operational involvement with the journal. In this my final editorial I focus on my time as EiC, also reflecting on my almost 3 decades with the journal. I much appreciate being invited to write these brief ruminations and am honoured to be included amongst the journal’s Emeritus, along with the esteemed Robert Galliers and Sirkka Jarvenpaa. 相似文献

Algorithms developed to solve linear programming (LP) problems and advances in computer speed have made large-scale LP problems solvable in time for implementation. Solving an LP is relatively easier than solving an MIP for modern production planning problems. In this study, we propose a heuristic iterative algorithm between LP solution phases and setup decision computations for solving these difficult MIP production planning problems. By utilizing the shadow price information provided by the LP solution of the previous iteration, the setup decision computation converts an MIP problem into an LP problem, which can be efficiently solved in the current iteration. SWOT analysis is the most important tool for decision makers in strategic management process, because it enables the managers to discover and collect the facts that resulted from internal and external analysis. This analysis can be a good base for strategy formulation, but it is not non-defect. It includes no means of analytically determining the importance of factors or assessing the fit between SWOTS factors and decision alternatives and is mainly based on the qualitative analysis. Many researchers develop different techniques to quantify the SWOT analysis, but these methods are not comprehensive. In this study, we develop a fuzzy method model for quantitative weighing of SWOT strategies. The decision maker’s imprecise information is regarded by fuzzy numbers in this model. To consider dependency among factors and sub-factors, we use ANP technique in our research. To approach a simple game Δ2 of P and E = {E1, E2} with no a priori evaders' role assignment and the payoff equal to the distance to one evader at an instant of catching another, we introduce a concept of casting and study the games Δ1,2 and Δ2,1 for preassigned and Δp2 for open-loop casting procedures. Since Δp2 is reduced to Δ1,2 or Δ2,1 which, in turn, are distinguished only by their notations, we focus attention mainly on Δ1,2. According to the tenet of transition, Δ1,2 is divided into a concatenation of Δ1,2b (basic) and Δ1,2a (auxiliary) games that model the problem before and after the first instant of E1 capture.
