Previous research on scheduling and solar power issues of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) assumes that the sensors are deployed in a general environment. While monitoring the stream environment, sensors are attached to the stream side to collect the sensed data and transmit the data back to the sink. The stream environment can be scaled in several similar environments. This type of geographic limitation not only exists in a stream environment but also on streets, roads, and trails. This study presents an effective node-selection scheme to enhance the efficiency of saving power and coverage of solar-powered WSNs in a stream environment. Analysis of the sensor deployment in the stream environment permits sensors to be classified into different segments, and then allows the selection of active nodes for building inter-stream connections, inter-segment connections, and intra-segment connections. Based on these connections, the number of active nodes and transmitted packets is minimized. Simulation results show that this scheme can significantly increase the energy efficiency and maintain the monitoring area in solar-powered WSNs.  相似文献

In a large-scale locality-driven network such as in modular robotics and wireless sensor networks, knowing the state of a local area is sometimes necessary due to either interactions being local and driven by neighborhood proximity or the users being interested in the state of a certain region. We define locality-aware predicates (LAP) that aim at detecting a predicate within a specified area. We model the area of interest as the set of processes that are within a breadth-first search tree (BFST) of height kk rooted at the initiator process. Although a locality-aware predicate specifies a predicate only within a local area, observing the area consistently requires considering the entire system in a consistent manner. This raises the challenge of making the complexities of the corresponding predicate detection algorithms scale-free, i.e., independent of the size of the system. Since all existing algorithms for getting a consistent view of the system require either a global snapshot of the entire system or vector clocks of the size of the system, a new solution is needed. We focus on stable LAP, which are those LAP that remain true once they become true. We propose a scale-free algorithm to detect stable LAP within a kk-height BFST. Our algorithm can detect both stable conjunctive LAP and stable relational LAP. In the process of designing our algorithm, we also propose the first distributed algorithm for building a BFST within an area of interest in a graph, and the first distributed algorithm for recording a consistent sub-cut within the area of interest. This paper demonstrates that LAPs are a natural fit for detecting distributed properties in large-scale distributed systems, and stable LAPs can be practically detected at low cost.  相似文献

This paper investigates the design of fault-tolerant TDMA-based data aggregation scheduling (DAS) protocols for wireless sensor networks (WSNs). DAS is a fundamental pattern of communication in wireless sensor networks where sensor nodes aggregate and relay data to a sink node. However, any such DAS protocol needs to be cognisant of the fact that crash failures can occur. We make the following contributions: (i) we identify a necessary condition to solve the DAS problem, (ii) we introduce a strong and weak version of the DAS problem, (iii) we show several impossibility results due to the crash failures, (iv) we develop a modular local algorithm that solves stabilising weak DAS and (v) we show, through simulations and an actual deployment on a small testbed, how specific instantiations of parameters can lead to the algorithm achieving very efficient stabilisation.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop a parallel algorithm for the solution of an integrated topology control and routing problem in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). After presenting a mixed-integer linear optimization formulation for the problem, for its solution, we develop an effective parallel algorithm in a Master–Worker model that incorporates three parallelization strategies, namely low-level parallelism, domain decomposition, and multiple search (both cooperative and independent) in a single Master–Worker framework.  相似文献

The focus of this work was to find a low-cost precursor for carbon molecular sieve (CMS) membranes, and a simple way of producing them. In addition, several ways of modifying a carbon material are described. The modification method used in this study was metal doping of carbon. CMS membranes were formed by vacuum carbonization of cellulose and metal loaded cellulose. Metal additives include oxides of Ca, Mg, Fe(III) and Si, and nitrates of Ag, Cu and Fe(III).The carbon membrane containing Fe-nitrate has promising separation performance for the gas pairs O2/N2 and CO2/CH4. Carbon containing nitrates of Cu or Ag show high selectivity, but reduced O2 and CO2 permeability compared to carbon with Fe-nitrate. Element analysis indicates that Cu migrates to the carbon surface, creating an extra layer resistance to gas transport. A silver mirror is also seen on the surface of Ag-nitrate-containing carbon. However, the Ag- and Cu-containing membranes show a high H2 permeability. Adding metal oxides makes the carbon membranes retard the transport of easily condensable gases (e.g. CO2). This can be exploited for enhanced H2/CO2 separation efficiency.  相似文献

Fiber-bundle push-out, single-fiber push-in, and single-fiber push-out tests were conducted in order to examine the applicability of these methods for determining the interfacial shear strength of carbon-carbon composites. The fiber-bundle push-out test resulted mostly in fractures along the fiber/matrix interface but created a small amount of fractures in the matrix. Hence, the evaluated strength was regarded as an approximate value. In order to precisely evaluate the interfacial strength, push-in and push-out tests for a single fiber were performed using a micro-Vickers indentation tester. In these tests, the load has to be placed within a target fiber, and the indentation should not extend to the matrix. This condition restricted the load that could be applied to a carbon fiber. Within this limit, a single carbon fiber could not be pushed-in. For the sake of load reduction, single-fiber push-out tests were conducted using thin specimens. The thickness appropriate for a single-fiber push-out specimen was estimated based on the interfacial shear strength obtained by the bundle push-out tests. Below this thickness, single-fiber push-out tests could be successfully performed.  相似文献

针对无线传感器网络能量受约束的问题,为实现节点均衡能耗,平衡网络簇头分布,并最大限度地延长网络寿命,提出一种基于细胞膜优化算法的无线传感器网络能量均衡分簇协议。细胞膜优化算法具有良好的全局寻优和快速收敛能力,通过浓度与能量因素对节点进行划分,并结合距离因素完成全局均衡分簇,能够解决传感器网络中簇头分布不均匀、全局能耗不均衡等问题。实验结果表明,该协议具有对无线传感器网络进行快速全局均衡分簇的能力,且与LEACH算法和LEAH-C算法相比,在均衡节点能耗和延长网络生存周期等方面具有更好的性能。  相似文献

High purity multi-walled carbon nanotubes were synthesized from aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene, xylene and trimethyl benzene) using ferrocene as the source of Fe catalyst. Screening studies of aromatic feeds at 675 °C, residence time of 14 s and Fe/C atom ratio of 1.07%, resulted in feedstock carbon conversion of 20-31%, CNT yield of 19.8-30.5%, and catalyst yield of 5.3-8.3 (g CNT/g catalyst). While the quality of the CNTs as determined by TGA, SEM, TEM and Raman spectroscopy, were high and comparable for different feedstocks; their carbon conversion, CNT yield and catalyst yield differed noticeably. A process optimization study for toluene feed showed that carbon conversion of more than 39%, CNT yield of 38.7% and catalyst yield of 18.3 can be achieved at temperature of 800 °C, Fe/C atom ratio of 0.47%, and residence time of 10-20 s.  相似文献

Helically coiled carbon nanotubes (HCNTs) with diameter of 50-100 nm were obtained on a large scale by reducing ethyl ether with metallic zinc at 700 °C. As the temperature was raised to 750 °C, most of the products were solid carbon spheres besides HCNTs. X-ray diffraction pattern and the Raman spectroscopy indicate that the product is graphite phase. HCNTs with diameter of 50-100 nm in large quantity were found in the products.  相似文献
