This study was conducted to determine the speed of Chinese handwriting and explore the effects of the task factors, tool type, paper texture, writing plane angle, and line spacing on writing speed and subjective preferences. The results showed that the average duration of writing a 9-stroke character was 1487 ms. Paper texture and line spacing had a significant effect on production speed. Uncoated paper and 3 mm-line spacing enhanced writing speed. Subjects had clear preferences for writing with a pen, on uncoated paper, in a horizontal plane, and with relatively wide line spacing (5 mm/7 mm/lineless). There was a conflict between writing speed and personal preference on the line spacing factor. Although narrow line spacing (3 mm) increased writing speed, it was not preferred by the subjects over wider spacing on the evaluation attributes of comfort, ease, fatigue, and overall preference. To take a balance between writing speed and personal preference, a line spacing of at least 5 mm is recommended. 相似文献

β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP, β-Ca3(PO4)2) is one of the most attractive biomaterials for bone regeneration and β-TCP macroporous scaffolds are very promising for both cell proliferation and mechanical support. The Additive Manufacturing (AM) process called Direct Ink Writing (DIW), based on the extrusion of a concentrated ceramic slurry, is particularly adapted to resolve the main drawbacks associated with conventional shaping of ceramic scaffolds. In this work, co-doped β-TCP powders were synthetized and used to print macroporous scaffolds by DIW. Doped β-TCP powders have been proved to exhibit higher thermal stability, densification and mechanical properties compared to undoped β-TCP. Two co-doped compositions were produced via the aqueous precipitation technique combining magnesium, strontium, silver and copper cations: Mg-Sr (2.0–2.0 mol%) and Mg-Sr-Ag-Cu (2.0–2.0–0.1–0.1 mol%). DIW slurries were optimized with undoped and co-doped β-TCP with the use of a dispersant and a carboxymethylcellulose and polyethyleneimine mixture to obtain aqueous slurries filled with 42 vol% of powder. Complete rheological characterizations were realized to assess the suitability of the β-TCP slurries for the DIW process (shear-thinning and thixotropic behaviour). The whole processing chain including printing, osmotic drying (PEG 10000) and sintering (1100 °C, 3 h) was optimized to successfully print co-doped β-TCP macroporous scaffolds. Characterizations after sintering showed a reduction of macropores and microcracks using co-doped β-TCP powders as well as improved compressive strengths and densities compared to undoped β-TCP. Abstract A significant sample of children in any class may be categorised as having a preferred visual learning style. The writing outcomes of a case study group of five upper primary children with a strongly preferred visual learning style were examined when the children were encouraged to write with the aid of a computer and a visually rich software medium. A constructionist classroom environment was established in which children were exhorted to dare to experiment, play and problem set, especially when using microworlds and laptop computers. The writing outcomes of this group grew in volume and linguistic complexity when the students were offered the opportunity to use the visual and animation features of the software at the same time as engaging in narrative writing tasks. These outcomes are situated in recent neuro-psychological theory of the role of the right brain hemisphere as a platform for language development and comprehension, and suggest the possible vital place of computers in the full realisation of their potential by children with a visually preferred learning style. 相似文献

This year's Distinguished Science Writing Award, presented by the American Psychological Foundation, is given jointly to: Gay Gaer Luce and Julius Segal for their book entitled Sleep--published by Coward-McCann. This year's award is of special interest for at least two reasons: Gay Luce is a two-time winner, having received the award in 1962 for her magazine articles; and Julius Segal is the first APA member to receive the award. Gay Gaer Luce is a science writer who began preparing her material on the subject of sleep for the National Institute of Mental Health. Julius Segal is a psychologist and writer on the staff of the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Brief autobiographical sketches are presented for the two writers. Through their painstaking research combined with clear and eloquent writing, Gay Luce and Julius Segal have made a brilliant contribution and have set a new standard for popular writing in the behavioral sciences. Today, teachers of English are faced with the problem of developing new vantage points from which to consider the use of computers in writing programs, writing classrooms, and individual writing processes. Until this time, the profession has subscribed to a limited view of computers and their effects on writing — a view circumscribed by the paradigms of other disciplines or by our own past experiences with teaching machines and paper-and-pencil composing. These visions are not capable of accommodating the larger and more radical changes wrought by the electronic medium we are now using. By subscribing to them, English teachers may, as Coleridge says, have created a tacit compact not to pass beyond a certain limit in speculating about computers. This paper suggests four overlapping areas of exploration, four points of departure that might help us spark creative re-formations of our thinking about computers and their relationship to writing: 1.) Computers and teaching writing, 2.) Computers and language theory, 3.) Computers and learning from the past, 4.)
