A personalized summarization of video life-logs from an indoor multi-camera system using a fuzzy rule-based system with domain knowledge

Information summarization and retrieval are significant research topics associated with recent advancements in sensor devices, data compression and storage techniques, and high-speed internet. As a result of these advances, it is possible for people to collect huge life-logs. Video is one of the most important life information sources. This paper describes a method of summarizing video life-logs in an office environment with a multi-camera system. Previously, multi-camera systems have been used to track moving objects or to cover a wide area. This paper focuses on capturing diverse views of each office event using a multi-camera system with several cameras observing the same area. The summarization process includes camera view selection and event sequence summarization. View selection produces a single event sequence from multiple event sequences by selecting an optimal view at each time, for which domain knowledge based on the elements of the office environment and rules from questionnaire surveys have been used. Summarization creates a summary sequence from whole sequences by using a fuzzy rule-based system to approximate human decision making. The user-entered degrees of interest in objects, persons, and events are used for a personalized summarization. We confirmed experimentally that the proposed method provides promising results.     

Classifying Biomedical Literature Providing Protein Function Evidence

Because protein is a primary element responsible for biological or biochemical roles in living bodies, protein function is the core and basis information for biomedical studies. However, recent advances in bio technologies have created an explosive increase in the amount of published literature; therefore, biomedical researchers have a hard time finding needed protein function information. In this paper, a classification system for biomedical literature providing protein function evidence is proposed. Note that, despite our best efforts, we have been unable to find previous studies on the proposed issue. To classify papers based on protein function evidence, we should consider whether the main claim of a paper is to assert a protein function. We, therefore, propose two novel features — protein and assertion. Our experimental results show a classification performance with 71.89% precision, 90.0% recall, and a 79.94% F‐measure. In addition, to verify the usefulness of the proposed classification system, two case study applications are investigated — information retrieval for protein function and automatic summarization for protein function text. It is shown that the proposed classification system can be successfully applied to these applications.

芯片内/间无线互连技术发展综述

为了解决超大规模集成电路布线复杂的问题,无线互连技术(WIT)应运而生。介绍了实现芯片内/间无线互连的两类技术,一类是基于片上天线的无线互连技术,另一类是基于AC耦合的无线互连技术。从实现成本、功耗,传输性能方面对这两类技术进行了分析与比较,讨论了它们的具体应用及适用范围,同时也总结了两者目前存在的问题,并指出了其未来的研究方向,对今后芯片内/间无线互连技术的应用研究具有一定的参考意义。
