The Nordic contribution to regional science: People,principles and empirics

This paper examines the contribution of the Nordic countries to regional science scholarship and practice over the last century. In order to do this we begin by reviewing the contributions of five key scholars whose work has heavily shaped regional science thinking in different ways. In each case the work of each of these scholars was seminal in different ways in different strands of regional science research. Yet, at the same time, one of the issues which arises is that the contribution of these key thinkers has to some extent often been rather overlooked, in some cases for linguistics reasons, but in other cases because of changing research traditions. The more recent contributions of Nordic scholars to regional science research are very varied, but at the same time it is possible to detect a clear focus on issues related to knowledge-related and innovation-related topics. The analytical contributions of Nordic regional science research are much bigger than the size of the countries might suggests, but this is not always understood. Moreover, over the years the Nordic regional science community has also played a significant role in regional science institutions and activities, which again is probably more significant than the size of the Nordic countries would suggest.     

Review of Psychotherapy Relationships That Work: Therapist Contributions and Responsiveness to Patients.

Reviews the book, Psychotherapy Relationships That Work: Therapist Contributions and Responsiveness to Patients edited by John C. Norcross (see record 2003-02805-000). As quoted from the fly leaf, "the work represents the culmination of three years of systematic analysis by the APA's Division of Psychotherapy (29) Task Force on Empirically Supported Therapy Relationships." Clearly, the task force was appointed in part--and acknowledged in the Introduction--as a response to the Society of Clinical Psychology's (12) Task Force on Empirically Validated Therapies (see Chambless & Hollon, 1998), which emphasized techniques in therapy. Norcross, the chair of the Division 29 Task Force and editor of this volume, discusses the inevitable questions regarding the differences between the goals of the two task forces. He views the current work as an extension and enlargement of the "attempt to apply psychological science to the identification and promulgation of effective psychotherapy." The 21 substantive chapters of the book are written by distinguished researchers of the therapeutic process. Fifty-five authors contributed to the volume. The chapters cover a wide-ranging and diverse field of topics including empathy, resistance, feedback, repairing alliance ruptures, countertransference, self-disclosure, religion and spirituality, and cultural diversity. The organization of the contents is of interest, as they are divided into General Elements of the Relationship and Customizing the Relationship to the Individual Patient. The choice of which chapters fit the categories appears somewhat arbitrary and perhaps forced. But the import of the volume is the thoroughness that the authors have brought to their particular topics. The book contains a number of resource gems, such as tables of references on outcome as related to resistance, interpretation, and therapist positive regard. That said, the book is not without some weaknesses. There is a dearth of reports of case studies, and cases that are presented are scattered sparsely throughout the text. The research must necessarily continue in order to provide a better understanding of interpersonal relationships within the context of psychotherapy. 为了准确辨识和定位主谐波源,提出了一种基于谐波有功功率贡献量的方法。该方法综合考虑谐波电压和谐波电流的影响,不仅能够定量地划分各自的谐波责任,准确地判断出主谐波源的位置,而且克服了使用谐波电压贡献量或谐波电流贡献量进行主谐波源定位时存在的局限性。首先推导了系统侧和用户侧单独作用时对PCC处谐波有功功率贡献量公式,然后推广到多谐波源系统中,并建立了通用的数学模型,从理论上实现了对主谐波源的定位。最后以两个非线性用户系统为例进行Matlab/Simulink仿真分析,仿真结果与理论分析相一致,验证了该方法的正确性与有效性。     

谐波源辨识研究的现状和发展

针对电网中正确的辨识和定位谐波源,并确定公共联接点处系统侧与用户侧的谐波责任这一电能质量研究的基础问题,介绍了谐波源的性质及其建模,叙述了谐波源辨识问题的研究现状,讨论了各种识别谐波源以及定量确定谐波责任的理论和技术方法,分析了其发展方向,提出建立一种激励机制下的谐波管理标准来治理谐波污染的必要性,并指出了该方面有待解决的问题.

Economic contribution of hunting expenditure to the southern United States of America

Millions of people in United States of America (U.S.) participate in hunting activities which benefit the U.S. economy and help promote conservation and environmental goals. The 2011 National Survey of Fishing, Hunting and Wildlife-Associated RecreationSurvey reported that 13.7 million people aged 16 and above participated in recreational hunting activities, spending $33.7 billion on trips and equipment. This paper reports quantified economic contributions of hunting and its sub-activity expenditure for the thirteen states in the U.S. South by calculating total gross output, employment, total income, personal income and value-added. Input–output models were developed for each State, to determine the direct, indirect, and induced impacts of expenditure derived from hunting. Comparison at broad activity (hunting) and sub-activity (type of game etc.) levels revealed that there were differences in the individual states’ economies, and that levels of expenditure affected the total economic contribution of hunting activities. Generally, states with larger economies benefited from greater multiplier effects while the total economic contribution, when expressed as a percentage of the economy, was greater for states with smaller economies.
