Ethanol‐responsive characteristics of polyethersulfone composite membranes blended with poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) nanogels

Ethanol‐responsive smart membranes with different microstructures are prepared from blends of polyethersulfone (PES) and poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) nanogels by immersion precipitation phase inversion method in a convenient and controllable manner. The introduction of PNIPAM nanogels forms the microporous structures on the surface of the top skin layer and on the pore walls of the finger‐like porous sublayer of membranes. The ethanol‐responsive characteristics of the proposed PES composite membranes are systematically investigated. With increasing ethanol concentration in the range from 0 to 15 wt %, the trans‐membrane flux of ethanol solution increases. The microstructures and the resultant ethanol‐responsive characteristics of the composite membranes can be regulated by the content of PNIPAM nanogels blended in the membranes. The more the content of PNIPAM nanogels blended in the membranes, the more the number of the submicron pores is, and thus the better the ethanol‐responsive characteristics of the composite membranes. The proposed ethanol‐responsive smart membranes are expected to be combined with the traditional pervaporation membranes as a smart vavle to achieve continuous and highly efficient ethanol production during the biological fermentation. This work focuses on the assessment of the erosion properties and antifouling (AF) performance of silyl ester copolymer-based coatings through laboratory and field tests. Silyl ester diblock copolymers were synthesized via the reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization and were selected as binders for developing copper-free chemically active coatings. AF coatings were subsequently prepared using biocides (Sea-Nine™ 211, Preventol® A4S, and zinc pyrithione). Laboratory-based bioassays, targeting the growth of selected microorganisms (bacteria and microalgae) and barnacle settlement, highlighted that the silyl ester methacrylic-based binders did not inhibit the growth of microorganisms, are essentially non-toxic to nauplii and reduced the settlement of Amphibalanus amphitrite cyprids. The corresponding biocidal coatings are potent toward bacteria and diatoms but were demonstrated to be toxic against the barnacle larvae. Field test results showed variations with geographical locations: in sub-tropical area, the silyl ester methacrylic-based coatings failed to inhibit the settlement of barnacles; however, field tests performed in Mediterranean Sea for 18 months demonstrated that biocidal silyl ester methacrylic-based coatings were promising candidates. 相似文献

In this paper, it is shown that if a nonlinear system admits a Lie symmetry that can be transformed into its Poincaré-Dulac normal form by a state diffeomorphism, then, under some technical conditions, such a nonlinear system can be immersed into a linear one. Cognitive science currently offers models of cognition that depart substantively from those of information processing models and classical artificial intelligence, while it embraces methods of inquiry that include case-based, ethnographic, and philosophical methods. To illustrate, five overlapping approaches that constitute departures from classical representational cognitive science are briefly discussed in this paper: dynamical cognition, situated cognition, embodied cognition, extended mind theory, and integrative cognition. Critical responses to these efforts from members of the self-proclaimed cognitive science orthodoxy are also summarized. The paper then discusses ethical and epistemological implications arising from the “new” cognitive science and from critical responses to it and considers the broader importance of this literature for theoretical and philosophical psychology. The interfacial reaction between 42Sn-58Bi solder (in wt.% unless specified otherwise) and electroless Ni-P/immersion Au was
investigated before and after thermal aging, with a focus on the formation and growth of an intermetallic compound layer,
consumption of under bump metallurgy (UBM), and bump shear strength. The immersion Au layer with thicknesses of 0 μm (bare
Ni), 0.1 μm, and 1 μm was plated on a 5-μm-thick layer of electroless Ni-P (with 14–15 at.% P). The 42Sn-58Bi solder balls
were then fabricated on three different UBM structures by using screen printing and pre-reflow. A Ni3Sn4 layer formed at the joint interface after the pre-reflow for all three UBM structures. On aging at 125°C, a quaternary phase,
identified as Sn77Ni15Bi6Au2, was observed above the Ni3Sn4 layer in the UBM structures that contain Au. The thick Sn77Ni15Bi6Au2 layer degraded the integrity of the solder joint, and the shear strength of the solder bump was about 40% less than the nonaged

The intermetallic compounds formed in Sn3Ag0.5Cu and Sn3Ag0.5Cu0.06Ni0.01Ge solder BGA packages with Ag/Cu pads are investigated.
After reflow, scallop-shaped η-Cu6Sn5 and continuous planar η-(cu0.9Ni0.1)6Sn5 intermetallics appear at the interfaces of the Sn3Ag0.5Cu and Sn3Ag0.5Cu0.06Ni0.01Ge solder joints, respectively. In the
case of the Sn3Ag0.5Cu specimens, an additional ε-Cu3Sn intermetallic layer is formed at the interface between the η-Cu6Sn5 and Cu pads after aging at 150°C, while the same type of intermetallic formation is inhibited in the Sn3Ag0.5Cu0.06Ni0.01Ge
packages. In addition, the coarsening of Ag3Sn precipitates also abates in the solder matrix of the Sn3Ag0.5Cu0.06Ni0.01Ge packages, which results in a slightly higher
