Choice With Initial and Terminal Link Reinforcement: An Alternative Self-Control Paradigm.

Self-control is demonstrated when a less desirable immediate outcome is chosen to ensure a substantially better future. In a novel animal analogue of this situation, primary reinforcement was delivered in both the initial and terminal links of a concurrent chain schedule. Rats made initial link choices between equal amounts of ethanol-free or ethanol-containing milk. Choosing the ethanol-free reinforcer resulted in delivery of the larger terminal link reinforcer and was thus analogous to self-control. Self-control decreased as the delay between initial and terminal links increased. The results have implications for human choice situations where decisions are made between two immediately available reinforcement alternatives each associated with a different delayed outcome. P2P(Peer—to—Peer)的最基本的问题是如何高效地查找到存放文件的节点。本文提出在保持内容寻址网络(Content Addressable Network：CAN)现有特性的基础上建立一种更快捷有效的内容定位结构：基于快捷链接和最小距离的内容定位。本文首先介绍了内容寻址网络的基本工作原理，然后详细描述了基于快捷链接和最小距离进行内容定位的方法，并通过仿真证实了该方法很大程度上改善了CAN的性能。     

Fault-aware Communication Mapping for NoCs with Guaranteed Latency

As feature sizes shrink, transient failures of on-chip network links become a critical problem. At the same time, many applications require guarantees on both message arrival probability and response time. We address the problem of transient link failures by means of temporally and spatially redundant transmission of messages, such that designer-imposed message arrival probabilities are guaranteed. Response time minimisation is achieved by a heuristic that statically assigns multiple copies of each message to network links, intelligently combining temporal and spatial redundancy. Concerns regarding energy consumption are addressed in two ways. First, we reduce the total amount of transmitted messages, and, second, we minimise the application response time such that the resulted time slack can be exploited for energy savings through voltage reduction. The advantages of the proposed approach are guaranteed message arrival probability and guaranteed worst case application response time.     

On parity problems and the functional-link artificial neural network

This paper contains the proof of a theorem on the capability of functional-link artificial neural networks both to represent and to learn the n-dimensional parity problem. The result is obtained by an embedding of the problem into a space of dimension 2ⁿ — 1. It is shown that the Volterra expansion of the data in n-dimensions provides the necessary transformation. By computing the parity function, it is shown that a suitable set of neural network weights can be deduced. Finally, it is demonstrated that 2ⁿ — 1 is the minimum embedding dimension for the problem.The contribution of A Zuderell of the University of Innsbruck is acknowledged.
