We describe an implementation of a parallel document clustering scheme based on latent semantic indexing, which uses singular value decomposition. Given a set of documents, the clustering algorithm is dynamic in the sense that it automatically infers the number of clusters to be output. The parallel version has been implemented on a LAN and on a dual‐core system. Experimental evaluation of the algorithm shows an average speed‐up of 6.22 for the LAN implementation and an average speed‐up of 3.71 for the dual‐core implementation, while still maintaining a precision and recall in the range [0.85, 1]. To put these implementations in the context of information retrieval, we use the parallel clustering algorithm and develop a document similarity search system. The amendment of patent law of India in 2005 to fulfill her international obligation under the TRIPS Agreement (World Trade Organization Agreement on Trade Related Intellectual Property Rights) was an outcome of an attempt to balance the competing interests of several stakeholders, including indigenous pharmaceutical companies, multi-national pharmaceutical companies, non-governmental organizations and civil society groups concerned with access to affordable drugs. The adverse consequence of this delicate balancing is introduction of some provisions in the Act whose compatibility with the TRIPS Agreement is questionable, and which therefore are prone to litigations. Section 107A(b) of the amended patent law dealing with parallel imports is one such provision, which, if interpreted word for word could have significant connotations for the rights of a patent owner. This article aims to examine the inconsistencies intrinsic in Section 107A(b) and discusses the divergences in the Indian patent law associated with the doctrine of exhaustion and parallel imports. This article also proposes legal amendments with a view to eliminate inconsistencies intrinsic in the section and enlarge the ambit of the exhaustion principle conceptualized therein, while concurrently remaining compliant with the TRIPS Agreement. 相似文献

In the sort-last-sparse parallel volume rendering system on distributed memory multicomputers, one can achieve a very good performance improvement in the rendering phase by increasing the number of processors. This is because each processor can render images locally without communicating with other processors. However, in the compositing phase, a processor has to exchange local images with other processors. When the number of processors exceeds a threshold, the image compositing time becomes a bottleneck. In this paper, we propose three compositing methods to efficiently reduce the compositing time in parallel volume rendering. They are the binary-swap with bounding rectangle (BSBR) method, the binary-swap with run-length encoding and static load-balancing (BSLC) method, and the binary-swap with bounding rectangle and run-length encoding (BSBRC) method. The proposed methods were implemented on an SP2 parallel machine along with the binary-swap compositing method. The development of massively parallel supercomputers provides a unique opportunity to advance the state of the art inN-body simulations. TheseN-body codes are of great importance for simulations in stellar dynamics and plasma physics. For systems with long-range forces, such as gravity or electromagnetic forces, it is important to increase the number of particles toN 107 particles. Significantly improved modeling ofN body systems can be expected by increasingN, arising from a more realistic representation of physical transport processes involving particle diffusion and energy and momentum transport. In addition, it will be possible to guarantee that physically significant portions of complex physical systems, such as Lindblad resonances of galaxies or current sheets in magnetospheres, will have an adequate population of particles for a realistic simulation. Particle-mesh (PM) and particle-particle particle-mesh (P3M) algorithms present the best prospects for the simulation of large-scaleN-body systems. As an example we present a two-dimensional PM simulation of a disk galaxy that we have developed on the Connection Machine-2, a massively parallel boolean hypercube supercomputer. The code is scalable to any CM-2 configuration available and, on the largest configuration, simulations withN = 128 M = 227 particles are possible in reasonable run times. 相似文献

As a novel parallel hip joint simulator, the 3SPS+1PS bionic parallel test platform with 4 degrees of freedom including three rotations and one translation is proposed. SPS denotes the spherical-prismatic-spherical leg and PS denotes the prismatic-spherical leg where only the prismatic joint is actuated and hence underlined. By means of the unit quaternion method, the formulae for solving the inverse/forward displacement, the inverse/forward velocity and the inverse/forward acceleration kinematics are derived. Using the unit quaternion to represent the position and orientation of a moving platform, singularities caused by Euler angles can be avoided. Combining the topological structure characteristics of the 3SPS+1PS bionic parallel test platform and letting the three-dimensional (3-D) motion of a human hip joint as its output movement, the displacement trajectories of three active legs are constructed based on the inverse displacement kinematics. The forward kinematic tests whose data are recorded by a 3-D orientation capture system are carried out on the developed parallel hip joint simulator. Moreover, the results of the forward kinematic tests prove that the 3SPS+1PS bionic parallel test platform can approximately represent human hip joint motion and provide more reliable experimental data for hip joint prostheses in clinical application. 相似文献
