A case situation arising in a normal interaction among people is the baseline for discussing properties of the theory of viewpoints. In particular we consider how to ensure agreement on the meaning of certain utterances by agents who have different perspectives on the situation, while maintaning other knowledge as private. We argue that communication should be modeled as adding facts to the common knowledge of agents. We introduce the principle of 'referent sharing' in communications and argue that common knowledge resulting from communication should only use constants whose referent is manifest to the parties involved.  相似文献

In Malenfant et al. [19], we have described a reflective model for a prototype-based language based on thelookup o apply reflective introspection protocol. In this paper, we augment our previous protocol by converting it to handle continuations reified as first-class objects. First-class continuations provide much more control over the current computation; during the introspection phase fired by message sending, they make it possible not only to change the behavior of the program for that message but also for the entire future computation. In this paper, we provide this introspection protocol with a formal semantics. This result is obtained by exhibiting a mapping from program configurations to priority rewrite systems (PRS) as well as a mapping from message expressions to ground first-order terms used to query the PRS. Other advantages of this approach are: to ensure the termination of the introspection using the smallest set of formally justified conditions and to provide a clear declarative account of this reflective protocol. The PRS also appears as a meta-level to the base language, independent of the implementation, but from which we derive fundamental clues to obtain an efficient language processor. By our new model, we finally highlight the link between reflection in object-oriented languages and the one originally proposed by 3-Lisp [24], although object-orientation provides reusability to reflection, making it easier to use.  相似文献

Abstract— Nowadays, low‐contrast viewing of LC displays (LCDs) occurs very often, which includes the viewing of mobile LCDs at high ambient illumination and the viewing of LCDs at low‐power mode. These cases result in low‐content visibility and low contrast, leading to an unpleasant viewing experience. In this paper, a technique to improve the perceived contrast and visibility of images at low‐contrast viewing conditions is proposed. The proposed approach enhances image brightness with content and ambient adaptive image brightening and highlights visual parts and boundaries with non‐photorealistic rendering. The proposed technique enables longer battery life for mobile LC devices and makes mobile LC devices viewable at high ambient illumination. It also enables TVs with extreme low‐power consumption and smart‐grid responsive TVs.  相似文献

Abstract— Overdrive is commonly used to reduce the liquid‐crystal response time and motion blur in liquid‐crystal displays (LCDs). However, overdrive requires a large frame memory in order to store the previous frame for reference. In this paper, a lapped transform‐based codec (LTC) is proposed to reduce the frame memory needed for LCD overdrive. In the latest literature, a directional prediction‐based codec (DPC) employs eight directional predictions, which takes up a large percentage of the computational complexity of the codec and does not consider the de‐correlation of the inter‐blocks. Therefore, the LTC first uses the lapped transform to decompose the correlation of the inter‐blocks in the YUV color space. A hadamard transform is then used for energy compaction. The reordered coefficients are pre‐quantized and encoded using the proposed adaptive bit‐plane coding (ABPC) method for a simple hardware implementation. The simulation results show that the proposed LTC significantly improves the DPC in both subjective and objective performance and outperforms the block truncation coding (BTC) and adaptive multi‐level BTC (AM‐BTC), which have been described in the literature.  相似文献

Abstract— To understand actual viewing conditions at home is important for TV design. And the preferred luminance level of LCD TVs under actual viewing conditions is also important in order to obtain both good picture quality and low power consumption. The actual viewing conditions of households and the preferred luminance levels was investigated. In a field test of 83 households, the display luminance, screen illuminance, and viewing locations were measured on site. In laboratory experiments, young and elderly subjects adjusted the luminance of an LCD‐TV screen to their preferred levels under different screen illuminance levels, angular screen sizes, and average luminance levels (ALL) of the images. As a result, two equations, which represent the preferred luminance level of LCD‐TV screens corresponding to different viewing conditions for young and elderly subjects were obtained. When the ALL of the images was 25% and the screen illuminance and angular screen size were set at 100 lx and 20°, respectively, the preferred luminance was 1 60 cd/m2 for the young subjects and 248 cd/m2 for the elderly subjects. By using the setting of the preferred luminance of an LCD TV under actual viewing conditions, it is possible to conserve energy consumption.  相似文献

Abstract— A novel pixel design for vertical‐alignment LCDs with superior transmittance has been developed. The new liquid‐crystal mode, refered to as the hole‐induced vertical‐alignment mode (Hi‐VA), uses a via hole of an organic layer on a TFT substrate to achieve multi‐domain alignment. Compared to the conventional design, the Hi‐VA mode has a transmittance of up to 135% with a contrast ratio of 2000:1. Moreover, the new structure is free from ITO patterning or protrusion on the color‐filter side, which makes the fabrication process simple and low cost.  相似文献
