A novel oxide composite reinforced with a ductile phase for very high temperature structural materials

The strength of nearly all metallic and ceramic polycrystalline materials drops off rapidly with increases in temperature. Here we have developed a strong and tough oxide composite reinforced with a ductile phase at 1873 K with a different kind of microstructure, made by unidirectional solidification of an Al₂O₃-Y₃Al₅O₁₂(YAG)-ZrO₂ ternary eutectic mixture. This composite has a microstructure in which continuous networks of single-crystal Al₂O₃, single-crystal YAG and single-crystal c-ZrO₂ interpenetrate without grain boundaries. No amorphous phases are observed at the interfaces between these phases and relatively compatible interfaces are formed. This material displays plastic deformation at 1873 K indicating high yielding flexural strength. This composite’s average flexural strength at 1873 K of around 850 MPa – approximately 57 times higher than that of the sintered composite with the same composition, and its ductile fracture at 1873 K have never been found up to now. Consequently several useful applications can be considered in mechanical engineering. Received: 15 November 2000 / Reviewed and accepted: 11 April 2001     

Are Normal Narcissists Psychologically Healthy?: Self-Esteem Matters.

Five studies established that normal narcissism is correlated with good psychological health. Specifically, narcissism is (a) inversely related to daily sadness and dispositional depression, (b) inversely related to daily and dispositional loneliness, (c) positively related to daily and dispositional subjective well-being as well as couple well-being, (d) inversely related to daily anxiety, and (e) inversely related to dispositional neuroticism. More important, self-esteem fully accounted for the relation between narcissism and psychological health. Thus, narcissism is beneficial for psychological health only insofar as it is associated with high self-esteem. Explanations of the main and mediational findings in terms of response or social desirability biases (e.g., defensiveness, repression, impression management) were ruled out. Supplementary analysis showed that the links among narcissism, self-esteem, and psychological health were preponderantly linear. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved)

介绍了并行光发射模块制作过程中，垂直腔面发射激光器列阵与列阵光纤的对准及固定方法. 对斜面光纤折弯耦合和垂直耦合两种方法进行了实验研究，得到的平均耦合效率均达70%以上. 比较了两种耦合方式的利弊. 针对列阵光纤耦合的特点，介绍了列阵光纤耦合过程中光纤的位置、角度的调整方法和特点.     

柱下条形基础底板和梁的合理设计

对柱下条形基础底板和梁的设计前后相关问题以及常用的两种简化计算方法的适用条件和相互关系进行了综述 ,提出了自己的一些看法。通过归纳设计具体步骤 ,从空间受力角度考虑对基础的偏心 ,推出部分能较全面反映实际的通用性计算公式。对过去的单向计算和设计内容作了进一步完善 ,使基础设计工作条理清晰、方法得当、简便好用 ,且比较经济合理     

KGW—88型窥管式红外线温度传感器在方窑上的应用

选用ＫＧＷ－８８型窥管式红外线温度传感器，做为５０ｍ＾３煅烧硬质粘土矩形方窑的测温元件，对ＸＷ系列自动平衡记录仪的桥路和刻度尺进行改造，组成测温系统。该系统具有抗环境干扰，动态反应速度快、测温精度高、数值显示和记录的特点。     

影响电磁约束定向生长样件表面质量的因素分析

用相机后摄记录了Ａｌ－２％Ｃｕ合金在不同工艺条件下进行电磁约束定向凝固时，在液柱头表面被氧化以及氧化皮形成皱褶的过程，并对此进行了分析。发现增大抽拉速度，减小液柱头最大工与最小厚度的幽会以及抑上电磁搅拌都能减少氧化和经皱褶的形成，最终改善表面质量。     

1 100 ℃ isothermal section of Nb-W-Zr-C quaternary system

An isothermal section of the Nb-W-Zr-C system at 1 100 ℃ was established by means of multiphase dif fusion couples along with electron microprobe analysis and X-ray diffraction analysis. The isothermal section consists of two single-phase regions, a(Nb, W, Zr) and (W, Nb)2Zr and one double-phase region, a(Nb, W, Zr) (W, Nb)2Zr. It is concluded that (W, Nb)2Zr is an interstitial intermediate phase with the face-centered cubic (Cu2Mg) lattices. The maximum solid solubility of carbon in (W, Nb)2Zr phase is determined as about 4. 18%C (mole fraction). The composition ranges of tungsten in the (W, Nb)2Zr phase are 55.41% to 65.98 % and the maximum solid solubility of niobium in (W, Nb)2Zr is determined as 7.78%.     

Patient-Appraised Couple Emotion Management and Disease Management Among Chinese American Patients With Type 2 Diabetes.

Family context exerts a strong influence on disease management among patients with chronic disease, but it is not clear which aspects of family life are most influential. This study examined the linkages between patient-appraised couple emotion management (conflict resolution, expressiveness, and respect) and disease management (biological, morale/depression, quality of life, and behavioral) among a relatively understudied group, Chinese American patients with type 2 diabetes. Significant main effects were found between patient-appraised couple emotion management, especially conflict resolution, and the morale component of disease management, but not the biological or behavioral components; both diabetes-specific and general relationship qualities (marital satisfaction) were independently linked to disease management. Acculturation did not qualify the findings. Similarities among ethnic groups in family and disease management relationships may be more common than differences.
