Finnish general contracting in the USSR

When dealing with a Soviet client, tendering, scheduling, consideration of available resources, management responsibilities, start-up and hand-over must be approached from a slightly different angle than when dealing with Western clients. Aspects of project management from feasibility analysis to hand-over are described, based on the experience of a Finnish general contractor, Finn Stroi.     

Evaluating Community Safety Programmes and Community Engagement: The Role of Qualitative Methods and Collaborative Approaches to Policy Research

This article explores the role of qualitative and collaborative methods when undertaking evaluation research into local community safety partnerships and neighbourhood strategies. It draws on recent examples of research and evaluation studies of regeneration and community safety programmes in a number of cities and towns in England. The discussion is set against the background of the major changes in policy relating to crime and community safety, particularly the introduction of Crime and Disorder Partnerships and their engagement with local communities. The value of qualitative methods in exploring some key questions is discussed, particularly within a collaborative approach to policy research.

介绍了工程数学中的模糊综合评判理论以及相应树型向量推理算法,并将模糊综合推理机制运用到研究性学习系统中进行研究型应用。该系统中运用模糊综合评判对学习效果进行合理评判,得出综合成绩,以其作为改进研究性学习模式的参考评证,从而使研究性学习过程良性发展。

A weighted H1 seminorm regularization method for Fredholm integral equations of the first kind

Many problems in mathematics and engineering lead to Fredholm integral equations of the first kind, e.g. signal and image processing. These kinds of equations are difficult to solve numerically since they are ill-posed. Therefore, regularization is required to obtain a reasonable approximate solution. This paper presents a new regularization method based on a weighted H¹ seminorm. Details of numerical implementation are given. Numerical examples, including one-dimensional and two-dimensional integral equations, are presented to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed approach. Numerical results show that the proposed regularization method can restore edges as well as details.
