The impact of flicker from fluorescent lighting on well-being,performance and physiological arousal

In working environments all over the world, fluorescent tubes are by far the dominating light source. Still, there have been very few studies on the impact of the non-visible flicker from fluorescent tubes. The purpose of the study was to compare the impact on subjective well-being, performance and physiological arousal of fluorescent light powered by conventional and high-frequency ballasts. Thirty-seven healthy males and females were subjected to either condition in a laboratory office on two separate occasions with 1 week in between. Although the methodology was quite extensive, only a few general effects were observed. However, when the light was powered by the conventional ballasts, individuals with high critical flicker fusion frequency (CFF) responded with a pronounced attenuation of EEG α waves, and an increase in speed and decrease in accuracy of performance. These results may be understood in terms of heightened arousal in the central nervous system in response to the pronounced light modulation caused by the conventional ballasts. In order to alleviate this potential stress source, it is recommended that fluorescent lighting be powered by electronic high-frequency ballasts of good quality.

云计算作为一种可以将计算资源变为公用服务的技术理念,具有改变传统软件系统使用模式的潜力。然而云计算技术需要与实际业务应用相结合才能得到更充分的发挥。本文以广播电视频率规划工作为例,就云计算技术在特定业务领域的落地应用做一些探讨。     

Robust face detection and analysis

This paper presents a method which utilizes color, local symmetry and geometry information of human face based on various models. The algorithm first detects most likely face regions or ROIs (Region-Of-Interest) from the image using face color model and face outline model, produces a face color similarity map. Then it performs local symmetry detection within these ROIs to obtain a local symmetry similarity map. The two maps and local similarity map are fused to obtain potential facial feature points. Finally similarity matching is performed to identify faces between the fusion map and face geometry model under affine transformation. The output results are the detected faces with confidence values. The experimental results demonstrate its validity and robustness to identify faces under certain variations.     

基于粒子滤波的行人跟踪研究及其性能分析

智能监控系统中的行人跟踪功能在很大程度上能够减轻工作人员的大量眼力工作,通过智能的方式自主地跟踪用户感兴趣的目标。在视频监控环境的基础上,利用改进的粒子滤波器,设计了一个行人跟踪系统,并使其具有系统性能分析的功能。通过使用Mean Shift算法进行目标位置的预估计和多特征融合的方式使该系统在视频背景复杂的情况下能够实现对行人的稳定跟踪。并在实际应用中,分析了在遮挡情况下,行人跟踪效果差的原因,并予以改进。在Visualc＋＋集成开发环境中,基于OpenCV和MATLAB编程实现了系统,能够实时地对目标进行跟踪,并对跟踪结果进行反馈。     

Using covariance intersection for change detection in remote sensing images

In this paper, an unsupervised change detection technique for remote sensing images ac-quired on the same geographical area but at different time instances is proposed by conducting Co-variance Intersection (CI) to perform unsupervised fusion of the final fuzzy partition matrices from the Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) clustering for the feature space by applying compressed sampling to the given remote sensing images. The proposed approach exploits a CI-based data fusion of the membership function matrices, which are obtained by taking the Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) clustering of the fre-quency-domain feature vectors and spatial-domain feature vectors, aimed at enhancing the unsuper-vised change detection performance. Compressed sampling is performed to realize the image local feature sampling, which is a signal acquisition framework based on the revelation that a small collection of linear projections of a sparse signal contains enough information for stable recovery. The experi-mental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has a good change detection results and also performs quite well on denoising purpose.     

Amelioration of weld-crack resistance of the M951 superalloy by engineering grain boundaries

Fusion weld is a portable and economical joining and repairing method of metals.However,weld cracks often occur during the fusion weld of Ni-base superalloys,which hinder the applications of fusion weld on this kind of materials.In this work,the effects of microstructures of grain boundaries(GBs)of the prototype M951 superalloy on its weldability were investigated.The precipitated phases,the elemental segregations on GBs,and the morphologies of GBs can be largely altered by regulating the cooling rates of pre-weld heat treatments.With decreasing the cooling rate,chain-like M23X6 phase precipitates along the GBs,accompanying segregations of B,and GBs becomes more serrated in morphology.During fusion weld,the engineered GBs in the M951 superalloy with a low cooling rate favor the formation of the continuous liquid films on GBs,which together with the serrated GB morphology significantly prevents the formation of weld cracks.Our findings imply that the weld-crack resistance of the superalloys can be ameliorated by engineering GBs.

知识工程和计算机辅助的产品设计系统的结合是近期研究的热点。本文介绍了我国食品包装工业的发展,食品包装机械设计的特点,提出了将知识工程的概念引入到食品包装机械的设计中。介绍了UG软件关于知识工程的解决方案-UG/KF知识熔接技术,以及利用UG/KF技术的食品包装机械智能设计系统的框架组成。
