This paper presents an analysis of the electric field and dielectrophoretic force in an arrangement consisting of an uncharged conducting sphere and a plane electrode with a dielectric barrier. The electric field is calculated by using the method of multipole images using an iterative algorithm proposed for calculating the images of the dielectric barrier of finite thickness. The calculation results show electric field intensification due to the presence of the dielectric barrier having higher permittivity, /spl epsiv//sub S/, than that of the surrounding medium, /spl epsiv//sub E/; however, if the barrier is separated from the conducting sphere by at least the sphere radius, its influence is negligible. Inside the dielectric barrier, the electric field on the axis of symmetry becomes more uniform and the average field significantly increases with decreasing its thickness. For a case where dielectric barrier is sufficiently thin, the electric field at the contact point and the force on the conducting sphere vary approximately as power functions of /spl epsiv//sub S///spl epsiv//sub E/.  相似文献

New plasticity solutions to the drained stability of conical slopes in homogeneous cohesive-frictional soils were investigated by axisymmetric finite element limit analysis. Three parameters were studied, i.e. excavated height ratios, slope inclination angles, and soil friction angles. The influences of these parameters on the stability factor and predicted failure mechanism of conical slopes were discussed. A new design equation developed from a nonlinear regression of the lower bound solution was proposed for drained stability analyses of a conical slope in practice. Numerical examples were given to demonstrate a practical application of the proposed equation to stability evaluations of conical slopes with both associated and non-associated flow rules.  相似文献

This paper describes a triangular surface charge method (TSCM) called (3,1)‐TSCM, which uses curved surface elements for calculating electric fields in composite dielectrics. The boundary element utilizes a cubic shape function with nine degrees of freedom and a linear function for representing the charge density on its surface. Conventional SCMs, including the (3,1)‐TSCM, show a very large relative error in the composite dielectrics where the permittivity is much higher in one medium than in the other. A modified method called the β method can suppress such relative errors, which expresses electric fields by surface charges without subtraction causing large relative errors. We have applied the β method to the (3,1)‐TSCM and calculated electric fields for a spherical dielectric under a uniform field. The calculated results show that the (3,1)‐TSCM improves the accuracy of the electric field by more than one order compared with the method using flat surface elements with constant charge density on each element. Furthermore, the β method completely suppresses the divergence of relative errors even when the ratio of the permittivity of two media reaches 1010. © 2001 Scripta Technica, Electr Eng Jpn, 136(1): 1–8, 2001  相似文献

Uncooked seafood samples were collected from open markets and supermarkets in Bangkok, Thailand, and were examined for the presence of Vibrio, Salmonella, and Aeromonas species from January to February 2008. From 120 samples, 272 bacterial isolates were identified through biochemical testing. Of all sea bass, shrimp, oyster, and blood cockle samples (30 of each) that were processed for culture, 114 (95%) samples had at least one detectable isolate of Vibrio, Salmonella, or Aeromonas, leaving only 6 (5%) samples free of them. All oyster sample (100%) had at least one pathogen, followed by sea bass (97%), blood cockles (97%), and shrimp (90%). Overall, 111 (92%) of all samples had detectable Vibrio spp., 32 (27%) had detectable Aeromonas spp., and 25 (21%) had detectable Salmonella enterica. There was no overall difference between positive samples collected from fresh markets versus supermarkets (relative risk, 0.97; 95% CI, 0.89 to 1.05). Resistance to ampicillin among isolated pathogens was relatively high (56%), while resistance to 12 other antibiotics, including azithromycin, ciprofloxacin, and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, was relatively low (0, 0, and 3%, respectively). Study results indicate that uncooked seafood in Bangkok, Thailand, commonly harbors enteric pathogens and that consumption of uncooked seafood should be avoided to reduce foodborne illnesses.  相似文献

This paper calculates the electric field in arrangements of dielectric particles. An analytical method is presented in the paper. The method repetitively inserts monopoles and multipoles until all the boundary conditions are satisfied, so that unlike the existing methods, it does not require setting up a linear equation system in the calculation. It can be applied to various types of energization such as a uniform field, spherical electrodes, or planar electrodes. The method and the BEM, a numerical method, have been utilized to investigate the effects of the particle number and particle permittivity. The authors have compared the results by the analytical method with those by the numerical method, and found that the accuracy of the numerical method greatly varies from less than 10/sup -4/% to more than 2%, depending on the condition of the calculation arrangements.  相似文献

This paper presents numerical upper- and lower-bound solutions for the well-known bearing capacity factor Nγ of a surface strip footing on a frictional soil. The analyses use linear programming and finite-element spatial discretization to solve limit analysis of perfect plasticity, assuming a linear Mohr-Coulomb failure envelope with associated flow within the soil and along the soil-footing interface. The current analyses are to bound the exact value of Nγ within ±5% increasing to ±30% as the internal friction angle increases from 5° to 45° for both smooth and rough interface conditions. Previous solutions by Hansen and Christensen in 1969 and Booker in 1969 are in excellent agreement with the best estimate of Nγ (average of upper and lower bounds) obtained from the current numerical limit analyses. Other well-known analytical solutions and numerical calculations appear to overestimate Nγ for rough footings. Comparisons of predicted upper-bound failure mechanisms and lower-bound contact pressures help to explain similarities and differences among these solutions.  相似文献
