For practical insulation design of superconducting power apparatus, it is necessary to take into account an inherent phenomenon known as quench, the transition from the superconducting to the normal state. We investigated quench-induced dynamic breakdown and prebreakdown characteristics of liquid helium (LHe). Experimental results revealed that the quench of the superconductor drastically reduced the breakdown voltage of LHe in the thermal bubble disturbance. Moreover, dynamic breakdown characteristics in a quasi-uniform field using a superconducting coil were investigated. We have been studying quench-induced `dynamic' breakdown characteristics of LHe and have already found that the electrical insulation performance of LHe was degraded drastically by the thermal bubble disturbance due to quench of superconductors. In this paper, in order to improve the insulation performance of LHe under quench conditions, we measured dynamic breakdown and prebreakdown characteristics of pressurized LHe. Experimental results revealed that breakdown voltage of LHe under quench conditions at 0.2 MPa was greatly improved, reaching 2 to 4× compared with that at atmospheric pressure under both uniform and non-uniform electric fields. The radiation resistances of pure silica core single-mode optical fiber (Si-SMF) and its data link module at 1.30 μm were investigated. It was found that the induced loss of fibers exposed to γ-rays at a low dose rate was proportional to the 0.54 power of total dose from the result of a low dose rate irradiation test for 3 years, and the induced loss for 40 years aging at 1 R/h was estimated to be 1.8 dB/km. It was ascertained that transmission is achievable at a bit rate of 125 Mb/s even under high dose rate irradiation to a total dose of 108 R, which corresponds to the postulated maximum γ-ray exposure in nuclear power plants 相似文献

In this article, we presented three graphical modeling techniques for diagnostic knowledge representation and inference: behavioral Petri nets (BPNs), multisignal flow graphs, and Bayesian networks (BNs). By using the same example from (Portinale, 1997) we showed that both multisignal flow graph model and BN model yield the same diagnosis. Evolution of the mitochondrial ATPase 6 gene in Drosophila: unusually high level of polymorphism in D. melanogaster 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We have determined 1990 bp mitochondrial DNA sequence which extends from 3' end of the cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) gene to 5' end of the COIII gene from two sibling species of Drosophila, D. simulans and D. mauritiana. Analyses of the sequences and part of the NADH dehydrogenase subunit 2 gene and the COI gene together with those from D. melanogaster and D. yakuba revealed that amino-acid substitution rate of the ATPase 6 gene seems to be higher in some strains of D. melanogaster than in the other species. High level of amino-acid polymorphism in this gene was observed in D. melanogaster. Synonymous substitution rate is relatively constant in all the genes examined, suggesting that mutation rate is not higher in the ATPase 6 gene of D. melanogaster. The amino-acid substitutions found specifically in D. melanogaster are at the sites which are not conserved among mammals, yeast and E. coli. These sites of the ATPase 6 gene might lose the selective constraint in D. melanogaster, and the amino-acid substitutions can be explained by neutral mutations and random genetic drift. 相似文献

Low-loss optical fibers are now indispensable transmission media for transmission systems. Recently, the ultralow-loss performance for long transmission systems, the water-loss-free performance for wide-band wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) systems, the hydrogen-loss-insensitive performance for system reliability, and the bending-loss-insensitive performance for access or indoor applications have attracted much interest. In this regard, pure-silica-core fibers (PSCFs) are suitable, and unprecedented low-loss PSCFs have been successfully fabricated.
