This study presents the development and characterization of PVDF-conjugated polymer nanofiber-based systems. Five different conducting polymers (CPs) were synthesized successfully and used to create the nanofiber systems. The CPs used are polyaniline (PANI), polypyrrole (PPY), polyindole (PIN), polyanthranilic acid (PANA), and polycarbazole (PCZ). Nanofiber systems were produced utilizing the Forcespinning® technique. The nanofiber systems were developed by mechanical stretching. No electrical field or post-process poling was used in the nanofiber systems. The morphology, structure, electrochemical and piezoelectric performance was characterized. All of the nanofiber PVDF/CP systems displayed higher piezoelectric performance than the fine fiber PVDF systems. The PVDF/PPY nanofiber system displays the highest piezoelectric performance of 15.56 V. The piezoelectric performance of the PVDF/CP nanofiber systems favors potential for an attractive source of energy where highly flexible membranes could be used in power actuators, sensors and portable, and wireless devices to mention some. 相似文献

This paper describes LPS, a Language Prototyping System that facilitates the modular development of interpreters from semantic building blocks. The system is based on the integration of ideas from Modular Monadic Semantics and Generic Programming.To define a new programming language, the abstract syntax is described as the fixpoint of non-recursive pattern functors. For each functor an algebra is defined whose carrier is the computational monad obtained from the application of several monad transformers to a base monad. The interpreter is automatically generated by a catamorphism or, in some special cases, a monadic catamorphism.The system has been implemented as a domain-specific language embedded in Haskell and we have also implemented an interactive framework for language testing. 相似文献

The nucleotide sequence of a 4.3 kb fragment downstream of the LIG4 gene of Candida albicans has been determined. This fragment contains two entire ORFs (ORF1 and ORF2) and a truncated one (ORF3). ORF1 (1029 bp; EMBL databank, Accession No. AJ277539) encodes a putative protein of 343 amino acids with a high degree of similarity to phosphatidylinositol-specific phospholipases C (PI-PLC) of bacterial origin and, to a lesser degree, to similar proteins from trypanosome, fly and human. Isolated ORF1 confers PI-PLC activity to Escherichia coli transformants. ORF2 (1572 bp; EMBL databank, Accession No. AJ277538) predicts a protein of 524 amino acids with high similarity along most of the entire length to Ydr393w from Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This protein carries a domain with significant similarity to several cytoskeleton proteins of different origins. YDR393w (SHE9) is an orphan gene whose overexpression compromises cell growth. The objective was to study the effect of heart healthy nutrients on the physico-chemical, microbiological and sensory characteristics of yogurt. Thiamine (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2), niacin (vitamin B3), folic acid (vitamin B9), manganese and magnesium were added during mix preparation at 0%, 30%, 60% and 90% of their respective recommended dietary allowance (RDA). Fiber (Ceolus Fiber DF-17) was added at a constant rate of 176 g/7.570 kg yogurt mix in all the treatments. Total solids in the control were kept constant with non-fat dry milk. Incorporation of the heart healthy nutrients at the 30%, 60% and 90% RDA significantly decreased syneresis, pH, L*, a* values but significantly increased b* value. Product viscosity was significantly increased by the incorporation of the nutrients at 60% of their respective RDA's. The incorporation of the above heart healthy vitamins and minerals at any of the studied rates in yogurts did not significantly affect flavor, appearance, body and texture and microbial counts of the product. Although there were subtle yet significant changes in instrumental color and viscosity these slight changes could not be detected by sensory evaluation. Yogurts can successfully be manufactured with the above heart healthy nutrients. 相似文献

We have established the main post-translational modification of the major exoglucanase of Saccharomyces cerevisiae as the enzyme progresses through the secretory pathway. The protein portion of the enzyme accumulated by sec18 cells was about 2 kDa larger than that of the secreted enzyme. This precursor (form A) was stable when maintained in the endoplasmic reticulum but was processed to the mature form (form B) before the block imposed by the sec7 mutation. Sec7 cells, when incubated at 37 degrees C, accumulated form B first, but upon prolonged incubation, form A was preferentially accumulated. When the supply of newly synthesized exoglucanase was prevented by the addition of cycloheximide, the accumulated A was transformed into B in the presence of altered Sec7p that still prevented secretion. Conversion of A into B was prevented in the double mutant sec7 kex2-1, indicating that Kex2p is central to the in vivo processing. Consistent with this, a KEX2 deletion mutant secreted form A exclusively. Conversion of A into B was also prevented in sec7 cells by the presence of dinitrophenol, a poison that depletes ATP levels, indicating that processing is dependent upon intracellular transport which involves ER --> Golgi and/or, at least, one intra-Golgi step(s). Small-scale gold mining in Portovelo-Zaruma, Southern Equador, performed by mercury amalgamation and cyanidation, yields 9-10 t of gold/annum, resulting in annual releases of around 0.65 t of inorganic mercury and 6000 t of sodium cyanide in the local river system. The release of sediments, cyanide, mercury, and other metals present in the ore such as lead, manganese and arsenic significantly reduces biodiversity downstream the processing plants and enriches metals in bottom sediments and biota. However, methylmercury concentrations in sediments downstream the mining area were recently found to be one order of magnitude lower than upstream or in small tributaries. In this study we investigated cyanide, bacterial activity in water and sediment and mercury methylation potentials in sediments along the Puyango river watershed, measured respectively by in-situ spectrophotometry and incubation with 3H-leucine and 203Hg2+.Free cyanide was undetectable (< 1 μg·L− 1) upstream mining activities, reached 280 μg·L− 1 a few km downstream the processing plants area and was still detectable about 100 km downstream. At stations with detectable free cyanide in unfiltered water, 50% of it was dissolved and 50% associated to suspended particles. Bacterial activity and mercury methylation in sediment showed a similar spatial pattern, inverse to the one found for free cyanide in water, i.e. with significant values in pristine upstream sampling points (respectively 6.4 to 22 μgC·mg wet weight− 1·h− 1 and 1.2 to 19% of total 203Hg·g dry weight− 1·day− 1) and undetectable downstream the processing plants, returning to upstream values only in the most distant downstream stations. The data suggest that free cyanide oxidation was slower than would be expected from the high water turbulence, resulting in a long-range inhibition of bacterial activity and hence mercury methylation. The important mercury fluxes resultant from mining activities raise concerns about its biomethylation in coastal areas where many mangrove areas have been converted to shrimp farming. 相似文献

Magnetic nanoparticles (M:NPs) are unique agents for in vivo thermal therapies due to their multimodal capacity for efficient heat generation under optical and/or magnetic excitation. Nevertheless, their transfer from laboratory to the clinic is hampered by the absence of thermal feedback and by the influence that external conditions (e.g., agglomeration and biological matrix interactions) have on their heating efficiency. Overcoming these limitations requires, first, the implementation of strategies providing thermal sensing to M:NPs in order to obtain in situ thermal feedback during thermal therapies. At the same time, M:NPs should be modified so that their heating efficiency will be maintained independently of the environment and the added capability for thermometry. In this work, optomagnetic hybrid nanostructures (OMHSs) that simultaneously satisfy these two conditions are presented. Polymeric encapsulation of M:NPs with neodymium‐doped nanoparticles results in a hybrid structure capable of subtissue thermal feedback while making the heating efficiency of M:NPs independent of the medium. The potential application of the OMHSs herein developed for fully controlled thermal therapies is demonstrated by an ex vivo endoscope‐assisted controlled intracoronary heating experiment. 相似文献
