A local interconnection technology utilizing polysilicon strapped with selective-chemical-vapor-deposited (CVD) tungsten has been developed. Both n- and p-channel MOS transistors have been successfully fabricated using this technology. Tungsten deposited on polysilicon is an attractive gate shunt and local interconnection material because of its low resistivity, immunity to dopant segregation and diffusion, and resistance to electromigration. A potential problem of this technology is the excessive diode leakage current associated with strapping shallow source/drain diodes with tungsten. For highly sensitive magnetic measurements, e.g., a measurement of the neutron electric dipole moment (EDM), the magnetic field has to be stable in time on a level below picoTesla. One of several measures we employ to achieve this uses an external field coil system which can stabilize the ambient external field at a predefined value. Here we report on the construction and characterization of such a system in the magnetic test facility at PSI. The system actively stabilizes the field along the axis of the EDM experiment by means of four coils in a Helmholtz-like configuration. Additional coils serve to compensate for transverse ambient field components. Because of the long integration times in the EDM experiment (about 100 s or more) only slow disturbances have to be corrected for. The performance of the system has been measured using static and moving magnetic sources and suppression factors in excess of 200 have been observed. 相似文献

Effective Er photoluminescence is observed at room temperature in a-Si:H films doped with Er atoms through a gas phase using powdered Er(TMND)3 as a source of Er ions. It is shown that the conditions for deposition of the films and their subsequent annealing influence
the photoluminescence intensity and its temperature dependence. The observed behavior is attributed to restructuring of the
amorphous silicon matrix within an Auger excitation mechanism involving defects.

We previously reported that single administration of ibogaine, an indol alkaloid with antiaddictive properties, dose dependently reduced alcohol intake in three strains of alcohol-preferring rats. The present study examined the effect of different doses of a newly developed nontoxic ibogaine analogue, 18-methoxycoronaridine (18-MC), on alcohol intake. Selectively bred alcohol-preferring rats received a single intraperitoneal injection of vehicle or 5, 20 and 40 mg/kg of 18-MC at 9:30 AM, and their consumption of alcohol, water and food was measured for 24 h. Our results demonstrate that a single injection of 18-MC significantly and dose dependently attenuated alcohol consumption and preference and commensurately increased water intake. Only the highest dose of 18-MC significantly decreased food intake. Although the true mechanism of action of 18-MC in suppressing alcohol intake is not yet fully understood, it may, like ibogaine, exert its attenuating effects on alcohol consumption by modulating neurotransmitters believed to be involved in the regulation of alcohol intake. 相似文献

The metastable β‐phase morphology, inherent to most polyfluorene homo‐polymers, is of interest due to its superior optical and electrical characteristics compared to its amorphous analogue. Here, a polyfluorene with vinyl‐ether‐functionalized aliphatic side‐chains that allow crosslinking is reported. It is demonstrated that the previously induced conformational morphology is preserved in the resulting polyfluorene network, which enables subsequent wet thin‐film processing. Electron‐beam lithography provides a means for sub‐(optical)‐wavelength patterning of the crosslinkable polyfluorene films. As a specific demonstration, optically‐pumped distributed‐feedback (DFB) lasers made from surface‐relief gratings in amorphous and β‐phase polyfluorene are presented. By backfilling gratings of one morphology by the other, devices are demonstrated that exhibit lasing at two wavelengths with a threshold (<1 μJ cm?2) at least an order of magnitude lower compared with previous data. 相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To assess management of penetrating internal carotid artery (ICA) injuries. DESIGN: Retrospective review of institutional protocol. SETTING: Level 1 trauma center in a major urban area. PATIENTS: Sixty-one patients with penetrating ICA injuries. INTERVENTIONS: In the period 1975 to 1987 (group 1; n = 36), management was based on individual surgeons' preferences. Between 1988 and 1995 (group 2; n = 25), an algorithm was employed: (1) hemodynamically stable patients with suspected ICA injuries underwent a diagnostic angiography; (2) surgically accessible injuries were reconstructed regardless of neurologic status with 2 exceptions: (a) neurologically intact patients with ICA occlusion were treated by anticoagulation and mild pharmacological hypertension and (b) minimal nonocclusive injuries were managed nonoperatively and followed up by serial angiography or duplex ultrasonography; and (3) heparinization, shunting, and completion angiography were employed. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Neurologic status at admission and discharge were compared by the Fisher exact test. RESULTS: In group 1, 24 patients (67%) presented neurologically intact, and 12 (33%) with a deficit. Sixteen injuries were managed nonoperatively, 14 were repaired, and 6 were ligated. At discharge 6 (17%) were improved, 24 (66%) were unchanged, 6 (17%) were worse. Four patients (11%) died of cerebrovascular causes. In group 2, 19 patients (76%) presented neurologically intact, and 6 (24%) with a deficit. Eleven injuries were managed nonoperatively, 12 were repaired, and 2 were ligated. A death occurred in a patient who arrested, was admitted to the hospital in a coma, and died before ICA repair. CONCLUSIONS: Neurologic outcome after ICA injury is enhanced by an algorithm predicated on the liberal use of angiography, a predefined surgical approach, and selective observation. 相似文献

A selective W contact layer is deposited on both poly and silicon electrodes to realize scalable, high performance TFSOI BiCMOS. A unique double spacer integration results in high performance MOS and bipolar operation while providing adequate separation between poly and silicon electrodes to prevent sidewall leakage. Switching speed more than twice that of comparable bulk circuits is demonstrated. Limitations imposed by conventional silicon- and metal-diffusing self aligned silicides (Ti and Pt) are described. Pt silicide limits scaling of the spacer width while Ti silicide limits scaling of the silicon thickness. The change in hydrogen concentration as a function of applied strain has been studied in commercial titanium alloys that included
threeβ-phase, twoα-phase, and an (α + β)-phase Ti-6Al-4V alloy with differingα/β morphologies.Insitu measurements were made using a nondestructive nuclear technique on samples for which uniaxial compressive and tensile stresses
were applied by four-point bending.
Theβ-phase alloys exhibited hydrogen redistribution under an elastic stress gradient, but no further change was discernible accompanying
plastic deformation. The extent of hydrogen concentration change for theβ-phase alloys was of the order of 4 to 6 pct for a 620 MPa stress gradient. This is less than would be predicted based on
available data for the partial molal volume of hydrogen. Diffusion coefficients in a stress gradient were also determined
and are consistent with those measured inβ-phase titanium at elevated and room temperatures. Within the experimental sensitivities there was no evidence of hydrogen
redistribution with applied stress for theα-phase and Ti-6Al-4V alloys. 相似文献

Porous carbon materials represent prospective materials for absorbers, filters, and electronic applications. Carbon fibers with high surface areas can be produced from polyacrylonitrile and spun as thin fibers from solution. The resulting polymer fibers are first stabilized to obtain conjugated ribbons and then carbonized to graphitic structures in a second high‐temperature step in an inert atmosphere. In this study, we investigated a previously described fast laser‐heating process that delivered fibers with a higher crystallinity and surface area compared to the thermally carbonized fibers. In a subsequent KOH‐activation step, the crystalline domains were exfoliated, and the surface of the fibers became macroporous. This led to a reduced specific surface area but a higher capacitance compared to thermally carbonized nanofibers.
