In this paper, an enriched finite element technique is presented to simulate the mechanism of interaction between the hydraulic fracturing and frictional natural fault in impermeable media. The technique allows modeling the discontinuities independent of the finite element mesh by introducing additional DOFs. The coupled equilibrium and flow continuity equations are solved using a staggered Newton solution strategy, and an algorithm is proposed on the basis of fixed‐point iteration concept to impose the flow condition at the hydro‐fracture mouth. The cohesive crack model is employed to introduce the nonlinear fracturing process occurring ahead of the hydro‐fracture tip. Frictional contact is modeled along the natural fault using the penalty method within the framework of plasticity theory of friction. Moreover, an experimental investigation is carried out to perform the hydraulic fracturing experimental test in fractured media under plane strain condition. The results of several numerical and experimental simulations are presented to verify the accuracy and robustness of the proposed computational algorithm as well as to investigate the mechanisms of interaction between the hydraulically driven fracture and frictional natural fault. Abstract: In this paper we look at the evolutionary development of Computer Assisted Instruction from the early days of ‘linear programs’ up to the use of ‘expert systems’ in education and training. We present the basic principles of Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS) which are capable of rich interaction with the student, which know how to teach, and who and what they are teaching. We point out the need for knowledge representation formalisms which can support ITS and present one such formalism (production systems). In the framework presented we describe systems developed for the teaching of modern languages, electronic trouble shooting and computer programming. In present study, the behavior of electrospun ZnO nanofibers under the application of low frequency alternating (AC) electric
fields within the range of 1 Hz–20 kHz was investigated using planar parallel electrodes. In the first stage, ZnO nanofibers
with diameters up to 100 nm were prepared by electrospinning. At 1 Hz, the strong electric field-induced fluid flow due to
charge redistribution around the electrode swept the fibers on the electrode surface farther from the edges. As the frequency
was increased to 1 kHz, most depositing fibers accumulated on the electrode edges and in the meantime, a small fraction of
them was pushed into the surface as a result of AC electroosmosis effect. Above 1 kHz, the fibers were assembled within the
electrode gap bridging the interelectrode space. The dielectrophoresis force was considered responsible for the assembly and

Three-dimension technologies offer great promise in providing improvements in the overall circuit performance. Physical design plays a major role in the ability to exploit the flexibilities offered in the third dimension, and this article gives an overview of placement and routing methods for FPGA- and ASIC-style designs. We describe CAD techniques for placement and routing in 3D ICs, developed under our 3D analysis and design optimization framework. These approaches address a dichotomy of design styles, both FPGA and ASIC. The factors that are important in each style are different, so that a one-size-fits-all approach is impractical, and therefore, we present separate approaches for 3D physical design for each of these technologies. Hence, our FPGA placement method uses a two-step optimization process that minimizes inter-tier vias first, followed by further optimization within and across tiers. In contrast, the ASIC flow uses cost function weighting to discourage, but not minimize, inter-tier crossings. 相似文献

The E2 gene of the branched-chain alpha-keto acid dehydrogenase (BCKDH) complex was studied at the molecular level in three patients with intermittent maple syrup urine disease (MSUD). All three patients had higher BCKDH activity than did those with the classical phenotype. In the first patient, a single base substitution from A to G in intron 8 created a new 5' splice site and caused an insertion of 126 nucleotides between exons 8 and 9 by activating an upstream cryptic 3' splice site in the same intron. The predicted mRNA encoded a truncated protein with 282 amino acids including 4 novel ones at the carboxyl terminus, compared with the normal protein with 421 amino acids. In vitro, the region from the patient but not from a normal control was recognized and was recovered as a novel exon, indicating that the single substitution was responsible for incorporation of the region into mRNA. This mutation probably supports an exon definition model in which the spliceosome recognizes a 3' splice site and then scans downstream for an acceptable 5' splice site, thereby defining an exon. The second patient was homozygous for a G to T transversion at nucleotide 1463 in exon 11, which predicted a substitution of the termination codon by a leucine residue and the addition of 7 extra amino acids at the carboxyl terminus. For each mutation, these two patients were homozygous and their parents were heterozygous. The third patient was a compound heterozygote for a C to G transversion at nucleotide 309 in exon 4 and a G to A transition at nucleotide 1165 in exon 9, causing an Ile-to-Met substitution at amino acid 37 and a Gly-to-Ser substitution at amino acid 323, respectively. Taken together, these results indicate that the molecular basis of intermittent phenotype MSUD in some patients can be due to mutations in the E2 gene, giving rise to a low but significant residual activity of the BCKDH complex. 相似文献

The aim of this work was to study different hybrid photovoltaic-thermal (PVT) collectors. Numerical simulation of the collectors was carried out using a 3-dimensional computational fluid dynamic (CFD) model. A set of experiments was conducted using a box-type PVT collector to validate the obtained computed data. Simulation results for water outlet temperature, especially at the lower flow rates, were closer to the measured data compared with average module surface temperature. Based on the simulation results, the spiral flow designs of heat exchanger provided the most uniform temperature distribution for module surface and the highest temperature gradient was observed with the direct flow designs. A hot zone was generated on the module surface of the direct flow box-type collector and the results indicated that the hot zone was considerably declined using cross-fins inside the box-type heat exchanger. The highest heat transfer to the ambient occurred with the spiral flow design and the box type heat exchanger presented a relatively low heat losses. The cross-fined box type and the spiral flow designs of the PVT collector had the highest electrical efficiencies at the different test conditions. 相似文献

A simulation model based on the concepts developed previously (Tien el. al. 1977, Wang el. al. 1977) for the deposition of particles from suspensions flowing past single spherical and cylindrical collectors is presented. The model is capable of providing detailed information about the formation and growth of particle deposits at the surface of the collector.
