A pressure swing adsorption (PSA) system using activated carbon impregnated with SnCl 2·2H 2 O and pure activated carbon was used to remove CO from a model H 2/CO mixture representing the steam reformer process gas. On comparing PSA results for both carbons, the CO adsorptive capacity of impregnated carbon was found to be superior to that of the pure carbon. This was confirmed by the fact that the concentration of CO, initially at 1000 ppm, was successfully reduced to 4.02% and 1.04% of its initial concentration by the pure and the impregnated activated carbons respectively in the PSA system. The species in the impregnated carbon responsible for the improved gas phase CO adsorption was found to be SnO 2. Simulation results at a cyclic time of 600 s in the PSA operating at 10 atmospheres gave a product recovery and purity of 99.99% and 57.48%, respectively. At 6 atmospheres, the product recovery and purity were 92.17% and 77.12%, respectively. © 2000 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Cocoa shell (CS) was used as a low-cost precursor for production of activated carbon (AC) and evaluated for its ability to adsorb Methylene Blue (MB) dye. Cocoa shell-based pellets were carbonized at 800 °C and subjected to 850 °C under a flow of CO2 in different activation times. The cocoa (Theobroma cacao) shell-based activated carbon (CSAC) showed moderate surface area with the average pore size 2.7 nm. CSAC also displays the presence of aliphatic, aromatic hydrocarbons and near absence of C–O, carboxylic acid, and the –COOH functional group. Only the presence of O–H groups was detected. The influences of adsorption time and initial dye concentration on adsorption performance have been measured in a batch system. The results are well described by the Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms. The results from the kinetic study show that MB adsorption follows pseudo-second-order and Boyd models, which indicated the MB adsorption on the CSAC was controlled by film diffusion.  相似文献

A wireless underground sensor network (WUSN) is defined as a network of wireless sensor devices in which all sensor devices are deployed completely underground (network sinks or any devices specifically for relay between sensors and a sink may be aboveground). In hybrid wireless underground sensor network (HWUSN), communication between nodes is implemented from underground‐to‐air or air‐to‐underground, not underground‐to‐underground. This paper proposes a novel hybrid underground probabilistic routing protocol that provides an efficient means of communication for sensor nodes in HWUSN. In addition, signal propagation based on the shadowing model for underground medium is developed. The proposed routing protocol ensures high packet throughput, prolongs the lifetime of HWUSN and the random selection of the next hop with multi‐path forwarding contributes to built‐in security. Moreover, the proposed mechanism utilizes an optimal forwarding (OF) decision that takes into account of the link quality, and the remaining power of next hop sensor nodes. This paper proposes a novel coding scheme to improve the performance of multidimensional parallel concatenated single parity check (PCSPC) codes. The high error floor of PCSPC codes prevents clear turbo cliff to be seen in the bit‐error rate (BER) performance. Based on the product accumulate type‐I (PA‐I) coding scheme, which adds serially an accumulator to the existing PCSPC code structure, our coding scheme considers a wide range of rate‐1 recursive systematic convolutional (RSC) codes replacing the accumulator. The convergence behavior of the proposed iterative decoding is monitored and analyzed using an extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart. It has been revealed from the EXIT chart analysis that the proposed coding scheme has a lower convergence threshold than the PA‐I coding scheme, especially when using a lower code rate PCSPC code as the outer code. For the 2D PCSPC(3,2) code with the code rate 0.5, the proposed coding scheme has a convergence threshold of 0.47 dB, whereas the convergence threshold of the PA‐I coding scheme is 0.81 dB. The convergence threshold of the proposed coding scheme is closer to theoretical limit (0.28 dB away from the theoretical limit) than that of the PA‐I coding scheme (0.62 dB away). However, for PCSPC codes with a higher code rate, the performance improvement of the proposed coding scheme with respect to the PA‐I coding scheme becomes smaller. A series of simulations is carried out to investigate the performance of the proposed coding scheme, and the simulation results show that better performance is achieved by using the proposed coding scheme compared with the PA‐I coding scheme. The simulation results show good consistency with the convergence threshold obtained from the EXIT chart, as the difference is only within 0.34 dB in all the evaluated cases. © 2014 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Femtocell networks promise improvement in network quality and performance for dense wireless networks, but will suffer from inter-cell interference if resource management is not properly employed. This paper presents distributed joint resource allocation (sub-channel and power) to address co- and cross-tier interference issues in two-tier heterogeneous femtocell networks. Due to uncoordinated nature of femtocell base stations (HeNB) deployment, the interactions among self-interested HeNBs are formulated using game-theoretical tools. Then, we designed individual utility function for every HeNB in order to enforce cooperative behaviour among HeNBs as well as to avoid cross-tier interference towards macrocell user equipments within HeNB coverage. Based on the designed utility function, we propose a fully distributed adaptive learning algorithm with a proportional self-belief concept that can lead to correlated equilibrium with fast and decisive convergence. Finally, performance analysis on the proposed algorithm done in simulated environment showed positive results indicating improvements in terms of co- and cross-tier interference mitigation as compared to generic regret-based learning scheme and utility functions.  相似文献

Cocoa shell pellets were converted into activated carbon (CSAC) by carbonization at 800 °C followed by activation at 850 °C in CO2 flow until reaching burn off at approximately 48%. The CSAC was treated with hydrochloric acid (HCl) using response surface methodology (RSM), where the effect of soaking times (1, 2 and 4 h), temperatures (30, 50, 70 °C) and concentration of HCl (0.1, 1 and 2 M) were studied. CSAC treated with 1 M HCl at higher temperatures (>60 °C) yielded CSAC with low ash content (<10%). Acid-treatment process parameters, particularly the reaction temperature, determined the composition and types of functional groups existing in the CSAC. High concentrations of oxygen functional groups were detected in both untreated CSAC and CSAC treated at low acid concentration (1 M). High concentrations of nitrogen functional groups were detected only in CSAC treated at acid concentration (2 M).  相似文献

The IEEE 802.16j Mobile Multihop Relay (MMR) WiMAX network allows the number of hops between the end user and the base station to be more than two hops. It supports non‐real‐time Polling Service, which considers the minimum reserved rate and the maximum sustained rate as a QoS requirements. The reliability of sending the data over MMR WiMAX is achieved by using Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) in transport layer and automatic repeat request in the link layer. However, the use of automatic repeat request in the link layer makes the round trip time fluctuate rapidly, which increases the possibility of retransmission timeout (RTO) expiration. TCP performance degrades because of frequent timeout, and hence the QoS transmission rates cannot be satisfied. Therefore, this paper presents an RTO smoothing scheme and QoS aware transmission control to enhance the performance of data transmission over MMR WiMAX networks. The RTO smoothing scheme aims to reduce the frequent timeout occurrences. The slow start threshold and maximum congestion window are adjusted to satisfy the required QoS and it provides transmission rate fairness for the users at different hops. Dark chocolate shells, formulated using cocoa butter (CB shell), and fat blends containing 15% Borneo tallow (IP) in cocoa butter (CBIP shell), were filled with truffles formulated using white chocolate (W truffle), milk chocolate (M truffle) and dark chocolate (D truffle). Anhydrous milk fat (AMF) content of the W truffles, M truffle and D truffle were 26·3%, 13·7% and 9·2%, respectively. Degree of tempering was determined using a tempermeter. The chocolates were kept at ambient temperature (25·5±0·5°C) for 3 months. Physical changes of chocolate shells and centres were monitored using DSC and a texture analyser. Results showed that the CBIP shell had to be tempered at 32·5%, ie 1°C higher than the normal CB shell. Physical measurements indicated the occurrence of fat migration. The presence of IP reduced the effect and increased the bloom resistance of the chocolate. © 1998 SCI.  相似文献

In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), sensors gather information about the physical world and the base station makes decision and then performs appropriate actions upon the environment. This technology enables a user to effectively sense and monitor from a distance in real‐time. WSNs demand real‐time forwarding which means messages in the network are delivered according to their end‐to‐end deadlines (packet lifetime). This paper proposes a novel real‐time routing protocol with load distribution (RTLD) that ensures high packet throughput with minimized packet overhead and prolongs the lifetime of WSN. The routing depends on optimal forwarding (OF) decision that takes into account of the link quality (LQ), packet delay time and the remaining power of next hop sensor nodes.
