Heat Generation in Multilayer Piezoelectric Actuators   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Multilayer piezoelectric actuators when driven under high frequency, generate significant heat, which influences the reliability and other piezoelectric properties. In this paper, heat generation in various types of multilayer PZT-based actuators was studied. Experimental results showed that heat generation is mainly caused by ferroelectric hysteresis loss in the stress-free state. A simplified analytic method was established to evaluate the temperature rise, which is useful for the design of multilayer and other high-power actuators.  相似文献

Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) and heparan sulphate (HS) were detected immunohistochemically in mandibular condylar cartilage, and the findings compared with those on epiphyseal articular cartilage. In the condylar cartilage, both bFGF and HS were localized in chondrocytes throughout the various zones including the fibrous, proliferative, mature-cell and hypertrophic zones: bFGF immunostaining was most significant in the proliferative and mature-cell zones, while intense staining for HS was found mainly in the hypertrophic zone. Immunoreaction for bFGF was detected in the nuclei of chondrocytes, whereas HS staining was observed in the cytoplasm. In articular cartilage, only chondrocytes beneath the superficial zone (intermediate zone) demonstrated both bFGF and HS immunoreactivities. Chondrocytes in the deeper calcifying region of the articular cartilage did not immunoreact for either bFGF or HS. These findings suggest that, in contrast to the epiphyseal articular cartilage, a continuous bFGF-mediated remodelling of cells and matrix takes place in mandibular condylar cartilage during the process of endochondral ossification.  相似文献

The material coefficients of "soft" and "hard" lead zirconate titanate (PZT) ceramics were determined as complex values by the nonlinear least-squares-fitting of immittance data measured for length-extensional bar resonators. The piezoelectric d -constant should be a complex value to obtain a best fitting between observed and calculated results. Because the elastic, dielectric, and piezoelectric losses determined in this process were not "intrinsic" losses, a calculation process to evaluate the "intrinsic" losses was proposed. It was confirmed that the intrinsic losses were smaller than the corresponding extrinsic losses. The intrinsic piezoelectric loss existed in both soft and hard PZTs; ∼50% of the loss of piezoelectric d -constant was derived from the elastic and dielectric losses. The most notable difference between the soft and hard PZTs was observed in their elastic losses.  相似文献

We applied a Mo/B4C multilayer coating to a laminar holographic grating with 2400 grooves/mm and a 1-m radius of curvature. By use of synchrotron soft x rays the multilayer-coated grating was evaluated to have diffraction efficiencies of 3.1% and 0.017% for s- and p-polarized radiation, respectively, at a 6.7-nm wavelength at a 45.35 degrees grazing angle of incidence in the +1 (inside) grating order. Thus the polarizance was estimated to be 98.9% at least. The zero-order peak was suppressed by the destructive interference caused by the groove profile.  相似文献

A torsional microtransducer for high-power applications was developed using standard bulk lead zirconium titantate (PZT) placed upon a small rectangular prism made from phosphor bronze, with a tapered conical end serving as a horn and a machined interior to improve the actuator's response. Torsion was obtained from a prototype at the design frequency of 192 kHz as well as over a wide range of frequencies from 136 kHz to 1.02 MHz. Torsional vibration velocities of 335 mm/s at 192 kHz were measured at 27.3 V(RMS) on the 1.5-mm diameter output tip, amounting to 25,600 degree/s vibration velocity along the outer circumference of the tip. At 1.02 MHz, a torsional vibration velocity of 1750 mm/s (134,000 degree/s) at 17.8 V(RMS) was obtained through use of the thickness mode of the PZT elements. Using the design described in this study, high-power torsional transducers with diameters of 5 mm and below are now possible.  相似文献

This paper describes the design of a piezoelectric tuning-fork, dual-mode motor. The motor uses a single multilayer piezoelectric element in combination with tuning fork and shearing motion to form an actuator using a single drive signal. Finite-element analysis was used in the design of the motor, and the process is described along with the selection of the device's materials and its performance. Swaging was used to mount the multilayer piezoelectric element within the stator. Prototypes of the 25-mm long bidirectional actuator achieved a maximum linear no-load speed of 16.5 cm/s, a maximum linear force of 1.86 N, and maximum efficiency of 18.9%.  相似文献

This paper presents a new method to accumulate the output of several torsional transducers together into one output. The torsional transducers are connected around the circumference of a thick metal disk (the accumulator) in which the fundamental torsional mode is excited. The torque of each transducer is transmitted to the accumulator, and the accumulated torque appears on both the top and the bottom surfaces of the accumulator. The authors discuss the torque accumulation and the transformation mechanism analytically by using an equivalent electrical circuit model and obtaining the analytic expression of the torque factor, which represents the maximum output torque per unit voltage applied to the electrical port. In an experimental study, four Langevin torsional transducers 30 mm in diameter attached to an accumulator 100 mm in diameter was used as a prototype. The measured torque factor is found to be proportional to the number of connected transducers, and the calculated torque factor agrees well with the experimentally determined one  相似文献

Abstract— A shrunk multiline addressing method (SMLA) in a passive‐matrix‐driven liquid powder display will be discussed. An algorithm to generate SMLA data that effectively reduces the number of scanning lines has been devised. The update time is reduced by 44.5% on average, and this reduction is maintained despite increased sizes of the images. The SMLA data generated by this algorithm is applied to e‐paper panels, thereby confirming the reduction in update time and that the image quality of the panels driven by SMLA is equal to that of conventionally driven ones.  相似文献

A simple fabrication, scalable to centimeter scale, of a permeable membrane made of block copolymer containing molecular transport channels is demonstrated by coating photo‐crosslinkable liquid‐crystalline block copolymer, consisting of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(methacrylate) (PMA) bearing stilbene (Stb) mesogens in the side chains (PEO114b‐PMA(Stb)52), onto a sacrificial cellulose acetate film substrate. After thermal annealing, perpendicularly aligned and hexagonally arranged PEO cylindrical domains with a surface density of 1011 cm?2 were formed and then fixed efficiently by photo‐crosslinking the stilbene moieties in the PMA(Stb) domains by [2 + 2] dimerization. The fully penetrating straight PEO cylindrical domains across the 480‐nm‐thick membrane were well‐defined and visualized as molecule‐transport channels. After exfoliated by removal of the cellulose acetate layer, the membrane could be transferred onto another substrate by either scooping or a horizontal lifting method. Throughout the processes, the fully penetrating PEO channels across the membrane are preserved to open at both ends. A simple permeation experiment demonstrates that rhodamine dyes permeate efficiently through the PEO cylindrical channels of the annealed membrane but not across a non‐annealed one.  相似文献

An ultrasonic linear motor using ridge-mode traveling waves   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A new type of ultrasonic linear motor is presented using traveling waves excited along a ridge atop a substrate. The ridge cross section was designed to permit only the fundamental mode to be excited during operation of the motor, with a Langevin transducer used as the source of vibration in this study. The ridge waveguide was first made of lossy media to avoid reflecting vibration energy back toward the vibration source, forming a traveling wave. A 5-mm-wide, 15-mm-tall rectangular acrylic ridge was used to move a slider placed upon it toward the vibration source, in opposition to the direction of the traveling wave transmitted along the waveguide ridge. Using a low-loss 3 x 6-mm aluminum rectangular ridge combined with a damper clamped onto the far end of the waveguide, similar results were obtained. To obtain bidirectional operation, the damper was replaced with a second Langevin transducer, giving a pair of transducers located perpendicularly to the ends of the ridge and driven with an appropriate phase difference. The moving direction of the slider was reversed by shifting this phase difference by about 180 degrees. With this simple configuration, it may soon be possible to fabricate a linear micromotor system on a silicon substrate or other semiconductor wafer adjacent to other electronic and optoelectronic devices.  相似文献
