Mediastinal pseudotumor

A case of mediastinum vascular abnormality is presented consisting in the right side location of the aortic crutch and descending aorta. Besides an abnormality of brachiocephalic trunk issue and position is described. The possible diagnosis errors are discussed.     

Epidemiological particularities of influenza in a town of Romania during the winter season of 1976

It has been shown that the human fat cell adenylate cyclase is activated by prostaglandins. Of the prostaglandins tested the E-type by causing about a 3-fold increase of enzyme activity, was more effective than the F-prostaglandins. Prostaglandin A2 had no stimulatory effect. Activation by prostaglandin E1 was not influenced by beta-adrenergic blockade in contrast to stimulation by epinephrine. Pretreatment of fat cells with trypsin resulted in an abolishment of PTH-sensitivity, but had no effect on prostaglandin responsiveness. These results suggest that the human fat cell adenylate cyclase is coupled to at least three distinct types of hormone receptors.     

Clinico-radiologic and morphopathologic aspects of mediastinal-pulmonary hemangiopericytoma

The paper points out the diagnosis of intrathoracic hemangiopericytoma in 13 patients in the "M.Nasta" Institute of Pneumophthisiology, a seldom seen disease considered quite serious because of its malignant form and its late finding out. This is due to its non-distinctive, small number of symptoms, which has a negative influence upon the disease prognosis and evolution.     

Effectiveness of salbutamol powder (Ventodisk Glaxo) compared to dosed aerosols (sultanol)

The study deals with the effect of salbutamol powder (Ventodisk) administered with Diskhaler device comparatively to salbutamol dosed aerosols. The analysis of PEF variations on morning and evening in a group of patients unable to use correctly the dosed aerosols leads to the conclusion that salbutamol powder succeeds in a higher effect since the administration by Diskhaler is far easier.     

Three-phase converter models for unbalanced radial power-flow studies

This paper presents a power-converter model intended for balanced and unbalanced radial power-flow studies. A three-phase steady-state model of a power converter (AC/DC-DC/AC) composed of a diode rectifier, a lossless DC link, and a pulse-width-modulated inverter is presented. Both the three-phase rectifier and the three-phase inverter are modeled as three, equivalent, Y-connected single-phase rectifiers and single-phase inverters, respectively. The model is implemented within a three-phase power-flow solver with phase representation. Simulation results on a balanced and an unbalanced 15-bus system are presented.
