BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: We operated on three patients with leiomyosarcoma of the inferior vena cava. METHODS: Complete excision was possible in all three patients. RESULTS: One patient developed widespread metastasis at 23 months, one patient is alive with no evidence of disease at 70 months, and one patient is alive at 15 months. The third patient had subcutaneous and pulmonary metastases at the time of presentation, which are radiologically nondetectable at present following postoperative chemotherapy. CONCLUSIONS: The clinicopathologic features, prognostic factors, and treatment of 130 cases found in a comprehensive literature search and our three cases are reported.  相似文献

In this paper, the effect of mass diffusion in a thermoelastic nanoscale beam in context Lord and Shulman theory is studied. The analytical solution in the Laplace domain is obtained for lateral deflection, temperature, displacement, concentration, stress and chemical potential. The both ends of the nanoscale beam are simply supported. The basic equations have been written in the form of a vector-matrix differential equation in the Laplace transform domain, which is then solved by an eigenvalue approach. The results obtained are presented graphically for the effect of time and mass diffusion to display the phenomena physical meaning.  相似文献

We present some different hyperentanglement concentration protocols (hyper-ECPs) for nonlocal N-photon systems in partially polarization-spatial hyperentangled states with known parameters, resorting to linear optical elements only, including those for hyperentangled Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger-class states and the ones for hyperentangled cluster-class states. Our hyper-ECPs have some interesting features. First, they require only one copy of nonlocal N-photon systems and do not resort to ancillary photons. Second, they work with linear optical elements, neither Bell-state measurement nor two-qubit entangling gates. Third, they have the maximal success probability with only a round of entanglement concentration, not repeating the concentration process some times. Fourth, they resort to some polarizing beam splitters and wave plates, not unbalanced beam splitters, which make them more convenient in experiment.  相似文献

This article attempts to increase the crashworthiness characteristics of energy absorbers. It is found that the effect of the bi-tubular arrangement on the energy absorption and peak force is nonlinear. This nonlinearity is somewhat related to friction but is mostly related to the changing of buckling modes. Therefore, it is possible to reach higher Specific Absorbed Energy (SAE) in the bi-tubular case than with two tubes since the weight is the same in both arrangements while the energy absorption is higher in the bi-tubular case. To exploit this, multi-objective optimization of bi-thin walled cylindrical aluminium tubes under axial impact loading is performed. The absorbed energy and the SAE are considered as the objective functions while the maximum crush load is regarded as a constraint. Finally, the optimal dimensions of tubes are found in order to maximize the SAE and energy absorption for a specified maximum crushing force.  相似文献

This work is a seminal attempt to address the drawbacks of the recently proposed monarch butterfly optimization (MBO) algorithm. This algorithm suffers from premature convergence, which makes it less suitable for solving real-world problems. The position updating of MBO is modified to involve previous solutions in addition to the best solution obtained thus far. To prove the efficiency of the Improved MBO (IMBO), a set of 23 well-known test functions is employed. The statistical results show that IMBO benefits from high local optima avoidance and fast convergence speed which helps this algorithm to outperform basic MBO and another recent variant of this algorithm called greedy strategy and self-adaptive crossover operator MBO (GCMBO). The results of the proposed algorithm are compared with nine other approaches in the literature for verification. The comparative analysis shows that IMBO provides very competitive results and tends to outperform current algorithms. To demonstrate the applicability of IMBO at solving challenging practical problems, it is also employed to train neural networks as well. The IMBO-based trainer is tested on 15 popular classification datasets obtained from the University of California at Irvine (UCI) Machine Learning Repository. The results are compared to a variety of techniques in the literature including the original MBO and GCMBO. It is observed that IMBO improves the learning of neural networks significantly, proving the merits of this algorithm for solving challenging problems.  相似文献

Supercharged diesel engines are a key element in diesel powertrains that have been extensively modelled yet often without explainable mathematical trends. The present paper demonstrates the analytical modelling of in-cylinder gas speed dynamics and engine brake power. These analytical models provide explainable mathematical trends. In addition, they provide gear-shifting-based modeling because the model parameters can be adjusted to reflect different driving conditions without the need for gathering field data. An unprecedented sensitivity analysis was conducted on these developed models for simplifying them. They were validated using experimental data and the relative error of the developed model of the in-cylinder gas speed dynamics was 9.8%. The study demonstrates with 73% coefficient of determination that the average percentage of deviation of the simulated results from the corresponding field data on the engine brake power is 6.9%. The relative error of the developed model of the engine brake power is 7%. These values of relative error are an order of magnitude of deviation that is less than that of widely recognized models in the field of vehicle powertrain modeling such as the CMEM and GT-Power. These analytically developed models serve as widely valid models. Having addressed and corrected flaws in the corresponding models, such as the model of the in-cylinder gas speed dynamics presented in a key reference in this research area, these developed models can help in better analyzing and assessing the performance of diesel engines.

ABSTRACT: Our knowledge about the metabolism of alkylcyclobutanones (2-ACBs) is limited, and the lack of literature on the metabolism of 2-ACBs causes consumers to doubt the safety of irradiated foods. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the metabolism of 2-dodecylcyclobutanone (2-DCB) and identify any possible metabolite. The 2-DCB was mixed with rat S9 (postmitochondrial supernatant fraction) and β-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) in phosphate buffer (pH 7.4) and incubated for 2 h at 37 °C. Then, the incubation mixture was mixed with sodium sulfate and extracted with n-hexane by using a Soxhlet apparatus. The hexane extract was concentrated under nitrogen and injected into the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) machine running in selective ion monitoring mode (SIM) to measure 2-DCB concentration. The hexane extract from the in vitro and in vivo studies was also derivatized with a silylation reagent and injected into a GC-MS running in full scan mode. The average percentage of 2-DCB recovered from the test incubations was 23%, compared with 50% from the controls. The GC-MS chromatograms of the derivatized samples showed a unique peak in the in vitro test incubations and in the hexane extract of the rat feces that were given 2-DCB. This peak was later identified as 2-doecylcyclobutanol.  相似文献

4(5)‐Methylimidazole (4‐MeI) is a nitrogen‐containing heterocyclic compound found in class III and IV ammoniated caramel colors, a group of additives widely used in the food industry. A suspected carcinogen and neurotoxin and efforts are underway to limit its presence in foods. Several methods have been developed to detect and quantitate 4‐MeI in different food matrices, including roasted coffee, beer, soft drinks, and soy sauce; however, no methods are available to measure 4‐MeI in cooked meat and meat products containing lipids and high levels of interfering nitrogen compounds, such as amino acids and peptides. A rapid method using 0.1 M sodium acetate buffer (pH 5) as an extraction solvent followed by derivatization with isobutylchloroformate and gas chromatograph mass‐spectrometry was developed to quantify 4‐MeI in cooked meat products with added caramel colors containing 4‐MeI. Selected ion monitoring mode was used to monitor 4‐MeI ions fragments. In the 8 commercial meat products tested, 4‐MeI levels ranged from 0.041 to 1.015 mg/kg, with recovery of 94.76% to 103.94%. In addition, a matrix‐matched calibration performed by analyzing a spiked cooked meat sample indicated no significant difference (P > 0.05), which means the meat matrix had no effect on the developed method. This method proved useful in analyzing 4‐MeI in meat products with added caramel color containing 4‐MeI.  相似文献
