In order to increase the efficiency of waste utilization in thermal conversion processes, pre-treatment is advantageous. With the Herhof Stabilat® process, residual domestic waste is upgraded to waste-derived fuel by means of biological drying and mechanical separation of inerts and metals. The dried and homogenized waste-derived Stabilat® fuel has a relatively high calorific value and contains high volatile matter which makes it suitable for gasification. As a result of extensive mechanical treatment, the Stabilat® produced is of a fluffy appearance with a low density. A two-stage gasifier, based on a parallel-arranged bubbling fluidized bed and a fixed bed reactor, has been developed to convert Stabilat® into hydrogen-rich product gas. This paper focuses on the design and construction of the configured laboratory-scale gasifier and experience with its operation. The processing of low-density fluffy waste-derived fuel using small-scale equipment demands special technical solutions for the core components as well as for the peripheral equipment. These are discussed here. The operating results of Stabilat® gasification are also presented.  相似文献

The transient behavior of a bipolar transistor in high level injection is analyzed both through simulations and an analytic model based on the quasi-neutral base approximation. It is found that, unlike the situation for low injection, transient operation can be influenced by the base majority carrier mobility and by the characteristics of the extrinsic base. While the quasi-neutrality approximation frequently remains valid, cases are presented in which it fails. In these cases, the transient conditions cause at least some small region of the normally quasi-neutral base to develop a space charge. Packed beds of fuel wood chips are commonly found in thermal conversion processes such as combustion or gasification. Wood chips in particular are mostly used as fuel for small-scale domestic heating boilers but also for commercial-scale combustion units. The characterization of spatial voidage distribution inside the wood chip beds is of great importance for flow and reactor modelling. This study focuses on the radial porosity variations of cylindrical beds of three different types of commercially available wood chips including chips classified as G30 size class. The conventional technique of consolidating packed beds with a resin was chosen as the experimental procedure. The radial voidage distribution in different cylindrical beds is determined by image analysis of sections of the solidified packings. Additionally, a packing of monosized spheres was investigated in order to assess the selected procedure in comparison with widely available literature data for spheres. The results are discussed and summarized in a mathematical expression correlating the radial voidage distribution depending on average wood chip size, packing core porosity and dimensionless distance from the tube wall.  相似文献

In this paper, a modified generalized function projective synchronization scheme for a class of master–slave chaotic systems subject to dynamic disturbances and input nonlinearities (dead-zone and sector nonlinearities) is investigated. This synchronization system can be seen as a generalization of many existing projective synchronization schemes (namely the function projective synchronization, the modified projective synchronization and so on), in the sense that the master system has a scaling function matrix and the slave system has a scaling factor matrix. To practically achieve this generalized function synchronization, an adaptive fuzzy variable-structure control system is designed. The fuzzy systems are used to appropriately approximate the uncertain nonlinear functions. A Lyapunov approach is employed to prove the boundedness of all signals of the closed-loop control system as well as the exponential convergence of the synchronization errors to an adjustable region. Simulations results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed generalized function PS scheme.  相似文献

This study investigated the association between individual and area socioeconomic status (SES) and leading causes of unintentional injury mortality in Canadian adults. Using the 1991–2001 Canadian Census Mortality Follow-up Study cohort (N = 2,735,152), Cox proportional hazard regression was used to calculate hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals for all-cause unintentional injury, motor vehicle collision (MVC), fall, poisoning, suffocation, fire/burn, and drowning deaths. Results indicated that associations with SES differed by cause of injury, and were generally more pronounced for males. Low education was associated with an elevated risk of mortality from all-cause unintentional injury and MVC (males only) and poisoning and drowning (both sexes). Low income was strongly associated with most causes of injury mortality, particularly fire/burn and poisoning. Having no occupation or low occupational status was associated with higher risks of all-cause injury, fall, poisoning and suffocation (both sexes) and MVC deaths among men. Associations with area deprivation were weak, and only areas with high deprivation had elevated risk of all-cause injury, MVC (males only), poisoning and drowning (both sexes). This study reveals the importance of examining SES differentials by cause of death from a multilevel perspective. Future research is needed to clarify the mechanisms underlying these differences to implement equity-oriented approaches for reducing differential exposures, vulnerability or consequences of injury mortality.  相似文献

In this study, the adhesion of 4 Penicillium strains (Penicillium granulatum, Penicillium crustosum, Penicillium commune and Penicillium chrysogenum) on cedar wood was examined qualitatively and quantitatively by using the extended DLVO (XDLVO) approach and the environmental scanning electronic microscopy (ESEM) technique. A comparison between the XDLVO theories and the ESEM technique was also investigated. The adhesion tests revealed that P. chrysogenum was not able to adhere on the cedar wood substrata, as predicted by the XDLVO approach. We have also found by ESEM that the three Penicillium strains (P. granulatum, P. crustosum, P. commune) adhered on wood, as not predicted theoretically.Moreover, the time of adhesion (3 h and 24 h) was used not only to compare the capacity of adhesion according to contact time but also to explain the discrepancies between the XDLVO approach prediction and the adhesion experiments. A positive relationship between the XDLVO approach and adhesion experiments has been observed after 3 h of adhesion. In contrast, a contradiction between the XDLVO predictions and the adhesion test results has been noted after 24 h of adhesion of Penicillium strains to the wood surface.  相似文献

Surface activity and micelle formation of alkylguanidinium chlorides containing 10, 12, 14 and 16 carbon atoms in the hydrophobic tail were studied by combining conductivity and surface tension measurements with isothermal titration calorimetry. The purity of the resulting surfactants, their temperatures of Cr→LC and LC→I transitions, as well as their propensity of forming birefringent phases, were assessed based on the results of 1H and 13C NMR, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and polarizing microscopy studies. Whenever possible, the resulting values of Krafft temperature (TK), critical micelle concentration (CMC), minimum surface tension above the CMC, chloride counter-ion binding to the micelle, and the standard enthalpy of micelle formation per mole of surfactant (ΔmicH°) were compared to those characterizing alkyltrimethylammonium chlorides or bromides with the same tail lengths. The value of TK ranged between 292 and 314 K and increased strongly with the increase in the chain length of the hydrophobic tail. Micellization was described as both entropy and enthalpy-driven. Based on the direct calorimetry measurements, the general trends in the CMC with the temperature, hydrophobic tail length, and NaCl addition were found to be similar to those of other types of cationic surfactants. The particularly exothermic character of micellization was ascribed to the hydrogen-binding capacity of the guanidinium head-group.  相似文献

The objective of this study is to develop a new biocomposite material with high deformation ability. In this regard, the thermal, rheological, and thermophysical properties of this new composite were characterized as a function of temperature and filler concentration. High density polyethylene (HDPE) was the matrix of this new composite which was reinforced with six sawdust concentrations 0%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, and 60%. Maleic anhydride grafted polyethylene (PE‐g‐MA) was used as coupling agent. Addition of sawdust with PE‐g‐MA increased significantly the complex viscosity, the storage modulus (G′), and loss modulus (G″) of the matrix. The superposition of the complex viscosity curves using temperature dependent shift factor, allowed the construction of a viscosity master curve covering a wide range of temperatures. Arrhenius law was used for the relationship of the shift factor to temperature. Furthermore, method of Van Gurp and Palmen (tan delta vs. G*) is also used to control the time–temperature superposition. The experimental results can be well fitted with the cross rheological model which allowed the prediction of the thermorheological properties of the composites over a broad frequency range. By increasing wood concentration, both the activation energy and relaxation time for the biocomposites determined using, respectively, the Arrhenius law and the cole–cole rule increased.
