Recent advances in the analytic theory and numerical simulation of applied-B ion diodes in general and, in particular, the diodes being tested experimentally on the Particle Beam Fusion Accelerator II at Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, NM, are described. Numerical simulation of these diodes using the three-dimensional particle-in-cell code QUICKSILVER and analytic stability analysis have provided new insight into the physics governing instability-induced beam divergence. Experimental evidence of these instabilities is described and compared with the theory. When simulation parameters are chosen to model present experiments, QUICKSILVER calculates beam divergence near the measured value. A new understanding of the nature of the electromagnetic instabilities and their effects on beam divergence has led to suggestions for improved diode design. A simulation of one of these design concepts shows divergence levels in the vicinity of 10 mrad, a level considered adequate for ignition experiments  相似文献

UNICORE is a European Grid Technology with more than 10 years of history. Originating from the Supercomputing domain, the latest version UNICORE 6 has turned into a general-purpose Grid technology that follows established standards and offers a rich set of features to its users. The paper starts with an architectural insight into UNICORE 6, highlighting the workflow features, standards and the different clients. Current magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology allows the determination of patient-individual coronary tree structure, detection of infarctions, and assessment of myocardial perfusion. Joint inspection of these three aspects yields valuable information for therapy planning, e.g., through classification of myocardium into healthy tissue, regions showing a reversible hypoperfusion, and infarction with additional information on the corresponding supplying artery. Standard imaging protocols normally provide image data with different orientations, resolutions and coverages for each of the three aspects, which makes a direct comparison of analysis results difficult. The purpose of this work is to develop methods for the alignment and combined analysis of these images. The proposed approach is applied to 21 datasets of healthy and diseased patients from the clinical routine. The evaluation shows that, despite limitations due to typical MRI artifacts, combined inspection is feasible and can yield clinically useful information.  相似文献

Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images are inherently affected by multiplicative speckle noise, which is due to the coherent nature of the scattering phenomenon. This paper proposes a novel Bayesian-based algorithm within the framework of wavelet analysis, which reduces speckle in SAR images while preserving the structural features and textural information of the scene. First, we show that the subband decompositions of logarithmically transformed SAR images are accurately modeled by alpha-stable distributions, a family of heavy-tailed densities. Consequently, we exploit this a priori information by designing a maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimator. We use the alpha-stable model to develop a blind speckle-suppression processor that performs a nonlinear operation on the data and we relate this nonlinearity to the degree of non-Gaussianity of the data. Finally, we compare our proposed method to current state-of-the-art soft thresholding techniques applied on real SAR imagery and we quantify the achieved performance improvement.  相似文献

Particle dryers emit varying amounts of formaldehyde. The concentrations differ between 1 and 250 mg formaldehyde per m3 exit air. By thermally induced and hydrolytic reactions only small amounts of formaldehyde emanate during the drying process. In some cases more formaldehyde is emitted from recycled particleboards and resinated particles. Dryers heated by sanding dust often emit large amounts of formaldehyde. The formaldehyde is formed by thermal decomposition of resin parts of the sanding dust. Formaldehyde released during the pressing cycle stems almost exclusively from the binder of the particleboard. UF- and MF-resins emit large amounts of formaldehyde, PF-resins small amounts of formaldehyde and diisocyanate no formaldehyde.  相似文献

The initial steps of the degradation of L-de- hydroascorbic acid (L-DHA) in acidic aqueous solutions and the catalytic effect of different transition metal ions on this reaction were studied. The main product was identified as 3,6-furanosido-2,3-hexodiulosonic acid-2-hydrate (compound I) by GLC-MS and 13C-NMR, formed by lactone hydrolysis and hydration of the carbonyl group in the C-2 position of L-dehydroascorbic acid. In addition, number of other compounds were detected; they are formed from compound I by simple enolisation, lactonisation, hydration and dehydration reactions as well as by cleavage and formation of cyclic half acetal bonds. The chemical structures of these compounds were tentatively deduced by the mass spectra of their TMS derivatives and a reaction scheme for their formation is proposed. The velocity and the direction of the reactions were found to be strongly influenced by the presence of catalytic amounts of different transition metal ions. It was concluded that in acidic medium, in contrast to the situation in neutral and alkaline solutions, the opening of the lactone ring of L-DHA is, to a certain degree, a reversible reaction.  相似文献
