We introduce an adaptive variable bias current control scheme to minimize the energy consumption of magnetic bearings without altering the dynamic performance. We developed analytical expressions for the optimum bias current settings for both differential and unidirectional modes of operation as a function of the orbit size and the desired bearing stiffness. The orbit size is measured in situ by a recursive Fourier coefficient calculation. The analytical results are presented in normalized variables, and hence can be applied to any size and type of magnetic bearing. Both zero and nonzero static load cases are considered. We show analytically that, under variable bias current operation, the differential mode provides better energy efficiency and stiffness capacity than the unidirectional mode. We present the energy consumption data obtained experimentally on a flexible rotor magnetic bearing rig. The data show that, with the proposed variable bias current approach, a significant energy saving can be obtained without deterioration of dynamic performance 相似文献

The efficiency of ultraviolet (UV) disinfection and the regrowth potential of total coliforms were investigated in humic waters. Experiments were conducted according to an experimental design in which a UV radiation dose range of 68–681 mW s/cm2 was applied to waters containing various concentrations (0–10 mg/L) of fulvic acid. Experimental results strongly suggested that the harmful effect of UV radiation on bacteria was diminished in humic waters due to absorption of UV light. Increasing concentrations of fulvic acid appeared to enhance its influence with elevated doses of UV radiation. Measured inactivation responses were on the order of 1–6 log10 units for the UV dose range used. Comparison of k (inactivation coefficient) values for nonhumic water to highly humic water indicated that k decreased proportionally as the fulvic acid concentration of water was increased. The results of dark‐incubation tests indicated significant regrowth of bacteria in fulvic acid‐containing waters. 相似文献

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) mediated by near‐infrared (NIR) dyes is a promising cancer treatment modality; however, its use is limited by significant challenges, such as hypoxic tumor microenvironments and self‐quenching of photosensitizers. These challenges hamper its utility in inducing immunogenic cell death (ICD) and triggering potent systemic antitumor immune responses. This study demonstrates that molecular dispersion of NIR dyes in nanocarriers can significantly enhance their ability to produce reactive oxygen species and potentiate synergistic PDT and photothermal therapy against tumors. Specifically, NIR dye indocyanine green (ICG) can be spontaneously adsorbed to covalent organic frameworks (COFs) via π–π conjugations to prevent intermolecular stacking interactions. Then, ICG‐loaded COFs are ultrasonically exfoliated and coated with polydopamine (PDA) to construct a new phototherapeutic agent ICG@COF‐1@PDA with enhanced efficacy. In conjunction with ICG@COF‐1@PDA, a single round of NIR laser irradiation can induce obvious ICD, elicit antitumor immunity in colorectal cancer, and yield 62.9% inhibition of untreated distant tumors. ICG@COF‐1@PDA also exhibits notable phototherapeutic efficacy against 4T1 murine breast to lung metastasis, a spontaneous metastasis mode for triple‐negative breast cancers (TNBCs). Overall, this study reveals a novel nanodelivery system for molecular dispersion of NIR dyes, which may present new therapeutic opportunities against primary and metastatic tumors. 相似文献

In this study, thermal properties of the socks made from the blend of reclaimed cotton fibre and virgin polyester fibre are investigated in comparison with those of similar socks made from virgin cotton fibre, together with the influence of incorporated elastane. Statistical results reveal that elastane addition and fibre type significantly affect all of the thermal properties of the socks. Elastane addition leads to increase in the thermal conductivity, thermal resistance and thermal absorptivity values and decrease in the water vapour permeability values. The reclaimed fibre socks exhibit lower thermal conductivity and thermal absorptivity and higher thermal resistance than the cotton socks. The water vapour permeability results of the reclaimed fibre socks with no elastane are higher than those of the cotton socks with no elastane. The difference between the water vapour permeability of the reclaimed socks with elastane and the cotton socks with elastane is found to be statistically insignificant. 相似文献

ABSTRACT In the age of globalisation and high competition among destinations, cities are empowered with new marketing tools to attract new residents and visitors while keeping their existing communities satisfied. Therefore, the main objective of the paper is to understand the role of location-based mobile applications among university students, who as members of the wired generation tend to use technology more than older generations. The secondary objective is to explore the most preferred location-based apps with their benefits and how they are used by the students to link themselves to the city and its services. Two focus groups are conducted with university students in Besiktas, which is claimed to be one of the most student-friendly environments in Istanbul. The findings reveal students’ preferences and reasoning for the use of location-based mobile apps. Apart from their satisfaction with the diversity of shopping, wayfinding, and geosocial networking apps, their concerns for digital privacy and personal data protection have become apparent. Further research is recommended for understanding the satisfaction and expectations of different user segments in the city since their evaluations might contribute to further develop and improve location-based services, and promote the city in the local and global markets. 相似文献
