We report on a tandem of electroabsorption modulators integrated with an amplifier by the identical active layer (IAL) approach. A 14 dB fiber-to-fiber is obtained by the use of constant As-P ratio MQW active layer and operation at 10 Gb/s is demonstrated. A record modulator saturation power of 35 mW is also reported.  相似文献

We have fabricated and characterized an n-doped InSb Faraday isolator in the mid-IR range (9.2 μm). A high isolation ratio (31(2) dB) and low insertion loss (1.9(3) dB) are obtained. Temperature dependance is analyzed. Further possible improvements are discussed, including the realization of a two-stage isolator. A similar design can be used to cover a wide wavelength range (λ ~ 7.5-30 μm).  相似文献

Real-world time series have certain properties, such as stationarity, seasonality, linearity, among others, which determine their underlying behaviour. There is a particular class of time series called long-memory processes, characterized by a persistent temporal dependence between distant observations, that is, the time series values depend not only on recent past values but also on observations of much prior time periods. The main purpose of this research is the development, application, and evaluation of a computational intelligence method specifically tailored for long memory time series forecasting, with emphasis on many-step-ahead prediction. The method proposed here is a hybrid combining genetic programming and the fractionally integrated (long-memory) component of autoregressive fractionally integrated moving average (ARFIMA) models. Another objective of this study is the discovery of useful comprehensible novel knowledge, represented as time series predictive models. In this respect, a new evolutionary multi-objective search method is proposed to limit complexity of evolved solutions and to improve predictive quality. Using these methods allows for obtaining lower complexity (and possibly more comprehensible) models with high predictive quality, keeping run time and memory requirements low, and avoiding bloat and over-fitting. The methods are assessed on five real-world long memory time series and their performance is compared to that of statistical models reported in the literature. Experimental results show the proposed methods’ advantages in long memory time series forecasting.  相似文献

Safety assessment of new air traffic management systems is a main issue for civil aviation authorities. Standard techniques such as testing and simulation have serious limitations in new systems that are significantly more autonomous than the older ones. In this paper, we present an innovative approach for establishing the correctness of conflict detection systems. Fundamental to our approach is the concept of trajectory, and how we represent a continuous physical trajectory by a continuous path in the x-y plane constrained by physical laws and operational requirements. From the model of trajectories, we extract, and formally prove, high-level properties that can serve as a framework to analyze conflict scenarios. The catabolism and structure of high‐density lipoproteins (HDL) may be the determining factor of their atheroprotective properties. To better understand the role of the kidney in HDL catabolism, here we characterized HDL subclasses and the catabolic rates of apo A‐I in a rabbit model of proteinuria. Proteinuria was induced by intravenous administration of doxorubicin in New Zealand white rabbits (n = 10). HDL size and HDL subclass lipids were assessed by electrophoresis of the isolated lipoproteins. The catabolic rate of HDL‐apo A‐I was evaluated by exogenous radiolabelling with iodine‐131. Doxorubicin induced significant proteinuria after 4 weeks (4.47 ± 0.55 vs. 0.30 ± 0.02 g/L of protein in urine, P < 0.001) associated with increased uremia, creatininemia, and cardiotoxicity. Large HDL2b augmented significantly during proteinuria, whereas small HDL3b and HDL3c decreased compared to basal conditions. HDL2b, HDL2a, and HDL3a subclasses were enriched with triacylglycerols in proteinuric animals as determined by the triacylglycerol‐to‐phospholipid ratio; the cholesterol content in HDL subclasses remained unchanged. The fractional catabolic rate (FCR) of [131I]‐apo A‐I in the proteinuric rabbits was faster (FCR = 0.036 h?1) compared to control rabbits group (FCR = 0.026 h?1, P < 0.05). Apo E increased and apo A‐I decreased in HDL, whereas PON‐1 activity increased in proteinuric rabbits. Proteinuria was associated with an increased number of large HDL2b particles and a decreased number of small HDL3b and 3c. Proteinuria was also connected to an alteration in HDL subclass lipids, apolipoprotein content of HDL, high paraoxonase‐1 activity, and a rise in the fractional catabolic rate of the [131I]‐apo A‐I.  相似文献

The aim of this study is to investigate the changes in attenuation of longitudinal waves and velocity of shear wave modes for assessing variations in the microstructure of thermally degraded 2205 duplex stainless steel samples that were aged isothermally at 700°C and 900°C for different time intervals. The evaluation of material microstructural changes such as phase transformation and second phase precipitation which are related to material properties is of primary importance to ensure quality of components. This paper presents evidence that indicate that the attenuation coefficient of the longitudinal mode is sensitive to gradual microstructural changes produced by the aging treatments. The gradual changes in microstructure are associated with reduction of impact properties. On the other hand, for samples aged at 700°C, the velocity of the fast mode of shear wave show changes at high aging times and does not show changes at early aging times were the materials properties are already degraded.  相似文献

Here we describe a new route for the synthesis of nanometric Ni particles embedded in a mesoporous silica material with excellent potential for catalytic applications. Mesoporous silica with a surface area in the range of 202-280 m2/g, with narrow pore size distribution and Ni nanoparticles (particles in the range of 3-41 nm) were obtained in a direct process. A different approach was adopted to process such a nanocomposite. This new approach is based on the formation of a polymer with the silicon oxianion and nickel cation chelated to the macromolecule structure and on the control of the pyrolysis step. The CO/CO2 atmosphere resulting from the pyrolysis of the organic material promotes the reduction of the Ni citrate.  相似文献

By assuming that color matches are normally distributed in XYZ space, we present a rigorous statistical technique to obtain regions of equally noticeable chromaticity differences. The probability density function of color matches in (x, y, Y) space is calculated according to standard techniques in probability theory. The geometry of the chromaticity thresholds is computed for various confidence levels alpha. Because of the asymmetry of the probability density function in (x, y, Y) space, the chromaticity thresholds are not symmetrical around the color center. The asymmetries depend on the color center, and they increase when high confidence levels (alpha < 0.32) are considered. It is our opinion that the technique proposed here can provide a useful tool for checking and evaluating deviations from the elliptic geometry of the chromaticity thresholds. It is formally demonstrated that regions of equally noticeable chromaticity differences are not ellipses when the normality hypothesis is assumed in XYZ space.  相似文献

Long-term effects after blood or bone marrow transplantation (BMT) are emerging as an important issue, as more patients are included in BMT programmes and as this procedure becomes more successful. Long-term liver dysfunction, mainly due to chronic graft-versus-host disease or hepatitis C virus infection, is a well-known complication. Nevertheless, the diagnosis of liver disease in this patient group is sometimes difficult and, despite adequate studies, it may remain undetected. A novel hepatitis-associated virus, hepatitis G virus (HGV), has recently been identified. The virus belongs to the Flaviviridae family and is known to be parenterally transmitted, although there is no clear evidence to implicate this agent in causing acute or chronic hepatitis. We report a patient who developed mild, but persistent, abnormalities in transaminases for 2 years after an autologous BMT. HGV RNA was detected in both serum and liver. HGV RNA persisted in serum for at least 8 months. No other known hepatitis virus was found. This report provides the first direct evidence of a patient with long-term liver abnormalities after a BMT in whom the only known hepatitis virus isolated was the HGV.  相似文献
