The effects of three milk protein ingredients, sodium caseinate (NaCAS), whey protein isolate (WPI) and skim milk powder (SMP), on the swelling and leaching behaviour of normal and waxy rice starch solutions, during the early stages of pasting, were investigated. It was found that the swelling onset temperature for both starches was increased by NaCAS and SMP but was not affected by WPI. Furthermore, onset temperature determined by the swelling measurements was lower than the onset temperature determined from viscosity measurements. However, the calculated viscometric onset temperature, using the Maron‐Pierce equation and the results of the swelling measurements, was found to be in very good agreement with the measured viscometric onset temperature. This study also showed that the quantity of leached polysaccharides during the early stages of starch pasting was very small, indicating that significant leaching of polysaccharides during pasting primarily occurs after the break‐up of the sheared starch granules.  相似文献

Surfactant solutions are commonly used for the remediation of petroleum-contaminated soil due to their good petroleum removal performance, time-saving capability, and cost effectiveness. However, applying surfactants in excess concentrations could make oil recovery difficult. Moreover, residual surfactants in soil are toxic to microorganisms and plants. Thus, it is crucial to identify a suitable surfactant concentration for soil washing applications. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of soil minerals (quartz and kaolin) and organic matter (OM) on the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of polyethoxylated sorbitan ester surfactants (Tween 20, 40, 60, and 80) and its effect on diesel removal from diesel-contaminated soil by soil washing. The results showed that Tween surfactants with shorter carbon chain lengths required higher CMC for diesel removal from quartz, while those with longer chains needed higher CMC for kaolin cleanup. FTIR results illustrated that oxygenated functional groups of Tween surfactants played an important role in their adsorption on quartz, while alkyl chains of Tween surfactants were responsible for their adsorption on kaolin. At a certain OM concentration, quartz and OM exhibited antagonistic effects, resulting in CMC reduction. In soil washing application, maximum diesel removal could be achieved from kaolin, in the presence of which surfactants exhibited the highest CMC. Based on FTIR results, the adsorbed surfactant could reduce the hydrophobicity of the kaolin surface, thus preventing the re-deposition of detached diesel.  相似文献

This article reviews the interactions between milk proteins and starch, with an emphasis on the physico-chemical properties, particularly the rheological and microstructural behaviour of these systems. The dairy systems considered include model mixtures made of milk, individual milk proteins and milk protein ingredients, and model dairy-based food products such as acidified skim milk gels and processed cheeses. In addition theoretical modelling of milk protein–starch rhelogical systems are explored. Understanding how starches behave in model and applied systems will provide the dairy industry greater opportunities to produce new and difference products, at potentially lower costs. However, despite a large increase in the number of publications within this field, more study in the area is required to exploit the true potential of starch–milk protein interactions.  相似文献

A ternary diagram, representing the solubility of binding solvent (chloroform) in a mixture of ethanol and water, was constructed. For this study, the solvent mixture that gave the best ibuprofen pellets (IPs) was composed of chloroform:ethanol:water at a ratio of 1.5%:8%:90.5%. The suitable agitator speed, temperature, and mixing time were found to be 1500 rpm, 25°C ± 2°C, and 20 min, respectively. In addition, suitable stirring time when the phase partition process of IPs began was 15 min. IPs obtained from these conditions were small and round, approximately 1 mm; surface determination by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) indicated that the IPs were composed of drug microcrystals rearranged on the surface. For the dissolution, IPs showed lower drug release when compared with pure ibuprofen crystal (IC) (f2 analysis). An attempt to modify the dissolution property of IP by incorporating various concentrations of Aerosil and Tween 80 in the binding solvent was made. Microscopic appearance showed that both Aerosil and Tween 80 gave less spherical pellets when compared with the use of binding solvent alone. For both the Aerosil and Tween 80 employed, the results indicated a change in rearrangement of drug microcrystals and a change in crystal habit. However, Tween 80 gave more change of the crystallographic direction of drug microcrystals than Aerosil. In term of dissolution, the results showed that employing Tween 80 at 1.2% gave the highest drug release compared to the use of Aerosil and IC alone (f2 analysis). These pellets had a good flow property, as indicated by Carr's compressibility, flow rate, and angle of repose, and they can be compressed into a tablet, encapsulated by suitable polymer, or pulverized to obtain micronized crystals. In the case of compression into tablets, the dissolution profiles of these tablets compared with those of commercial product meet the USP 24 requirement (Q ≥ 80% at 60 min).  相似文献

A thermotropic liquid crystalline copolyester (TLCP) was blended with low density polyethylene using a corotating twin screw extruder and then fabricated by extrusion through a miniextruder as cast film. Rheological behavior, morphology, and tensile properties of the blends were investigated. Melt viscosities of neat components and blends measured by using plate‐and‐plate and capillary rheometers at 240°C, in the shear rate range 1–104 s?1, showed similar shear thinning effect. The viscosity values measured by the two techniques in the overlapping range of shear rate are found to be identical, which is in accord with the Cox–Merz rule. Addition of TLCP slightly reduces the matrix melt viscosity. TLCP dispersed phase in the extruded strand appeared in the form of spherical droplets. These droplets were elongated into fibrils with high aspect ratio (length to width) at the film extrusion step. As a result, the Young's modulus in machine direction (MD) of the composite film was greatly enhanced. At 20 wt % of TLCP, the MD Young's modulus was found to be about 16‐fold increase compared to that of the neat polyethylene film. Proteinase inhibitor extracts were prepared from various legume seeds. Black cowpea and soybean seeds showed the highest inhibitory activity against viscera proteinases (p < 0.05). Optimal extraction was attained by shaking the defatted legume seed powder in distilled water (3 ml g−1) at ambient temperature for 1 h. Both extracts showed high thermal stability, but that from soybean was slightly less stable. The inhibitory activity of both extracts was retained over a broad pH range. The proteinase inhibitor extracts also reduced modori-inducing proteinase (MIP) activity. The sarcoplasmic MIP activities were more effectively inhibited than the myofibrillar-associated MIP activities. © 1999 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Kinetic parameters for growth and extracellular 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) production of Rhodopseudomonas palustris KG31 under light and dark conditions in a medium containing volatile fatty acids (VFA) as the carbon sources were estimated using a Gompertz model. The lag phase for growth and the maximum specific growth rate under microaerobic-light cultivations were 7.29-12.49 h and 0.038-0.094 h(-1), respectively, whereas under aerobic-dark cultivations, they were 2.03-14.25 h and 0.016-0.022 h(-1), respectively. The lag phase for extracellular ALA production and the maximum specific extracellular ALA production rate under microaerobic-light cultivations (15.72-24.74 h and 0.222-0.299 h(-1), respectively) were better than those obtained under aerobic-dark cultivations (24.57-44.84 h and 0.103-0.215 h(-1), respectively). The biomass and the extracellular ALA yields of 39.66-56.25 gDCW/l/mol C, and 148.47-245.75 μM/mol C, respectively, under microaerobic-light cultivations were higher than of those obtained under aerobic-dark conditions. An enhancement of extracellular ALA production under aerobic-dark conditions revealed that the ALA yield was markedly increased 8-fold (48.36 μM) by the addition of 10mM succinate, 4.5mM glycine, and 15 mM levulinic acid (LA). By controlling dissolved oxygen (DO) and pH values, a maximum extracellular ALA yield of 66.38 μM was found. The degradation rate of ALA in the culture broth was closely related to the pH value.  相似文献
