The author describes a patient who has a successful coronary artery bypass. Six weeks later, after a physical examination of the chest, she had unbearable sharp, stabbing pain around the incision which was not responding to nerve blocks, analgesics, nonsteroidal anti inflammatory agents, and epidural blocks. The pain was responsive to mexilitine and disappeared after three weeks of treatment.  相似文献

Collective decision making involves on the one hand individual mental states such as beliefs, emotions and intentions, and on the other hand interaction with others with possibly different mental states. Achieving a satisfactory common group decision on which all agree requires that such mental states are adapted to each other by social interaction. Recent developments in social neuroscience have revealed neural mechanisms by which such mutual adaptation can be realised. These mechanisms not only enable intentions to converge to an emerging common decision, but at the same time enable to achieve shared underlying individual beliefs and emotions. This paper presents a computational model for such processes. As an application of the model, an agent-based analysis was made of patterns in crowd behaviour, in particular to simulate a real-life incident that took place on May 4, 2010 in Amsterdam. From available video material and witness reports, useful empirical data were extracted. Similar patterns were achieved in simulations, whereby some of the parameters of the model were tuned to the case addressed, and most parameters were assigned default values. The results show the inclusion of contagion of belief, emotion, and intention states of agents results in better reproduction of the incident than non-inclusion.  相似文献

PFG NMR diffusion measurements were carried out to determine the effect of solvent on intracrystalline reactant diffusivities and on 1-hexene epoxidation rates in TS-1 catalyst. Using n-hexane in silicalite as a mimic for the TS-1 system, the self-diffusivity of n-hexane in silicalite was found to be 24% higher in methanol solvent than in acetonitrile solvent and 45% higher than in acetone solvent. The presence of trace Al did not affect n-hexane diffusivity. Based on analysis of the Weisz modulus for a slab morphology, the 1-hexene epoxidation reaction in TS-1 was found to be diffusion limited only if the crystal size is at least 38 μm in the methanol system.  相似文献

The new exo-N-3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl-7-oxanorbornene-5,6-dicarboximide (TFmPhONDI, 2), was synthesized and polymerized via ring opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) using tricyclohexylphosphine [1,3-bis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)-4,5-dihydroimidazolilydene][benzylidene] ruthenium dichloride (I) to produce the corresponding PTFmPhONDI (3). Gas permeability, diffusion and solubility coefficients of PTFmPhONDI (3) were determined by transient permeation for five gases He, CO2, O2, N2 and CH4. The larger gas permeability and diffusion coefficients of 3 compared to polynorbornene dicarboximides without fluorine pendant groups were attributed to a lower polymer chain packing due to the effect of the CF3 groups in the lateral phenyl moiety pending at positions 3 and 5.  相似文献

Unsaturated copolyesters are of great interest in polymer science due to their broad potential applications and sustainability. Copolyesters were synthesized from the ring-opening metathesis copolymerization of ω-6-hexadecenlactone (HDL) and norbornene (NB) using ruthenium-alkylidene [Ru(Cl2)(=CHPh)(1,3-bis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)-2-imidazolidinylidene)(PCy3)] (Ru1), [Ru(Cl)2(=CHPh)(PCy3)2] (Ru2), and ruthenium-vinylidene [RuCl2(=C=CH(p-C6H4CF3))(PCy3)2] (Ru3) catalysts, respectively, yielding HDL-NB copolymers with different ratios of the monomer HDL in the feed. The activity of N-heterocyclic-carbene (NHC) (Ru1) and phosphine (Ru2 and Ru3) ligands containing ruthenium-carbene catalysts were evaluated in the synthesis of copolymer HDL-NB. The catalysts Ru1 with an NHC ligand showed superior activity and stability over catalysts Ru2 and Ru3 bearing PCy3 ligands. The incorporation of the monomers in the copolymers determined by 1H-NMR spectroscopy was similar to that of the HDL-NB values in the feed. Experiments, at distinct monomer molar ratios, were carried out using the catalysts Ru1–Ru3 to determine the copolymerization reactivity constants by applying the Mayo–Lewis and Fineman–Ross methods. The copolymer distribution under equilibrium conditions was studied by the 13C NMR spectra, indicating that the copolymer HDL-NB is a gradient copolymer. The main factor determining the decrease in melting temperature is the inclusion of norbornene units, indicating that the PNB units permeate trough the HDL chains. The copolymers with different molar ratios [HDL]/[NB] have good thermal stability up to 411 °C in comparison with the homopolymer PHDL (384 °C). Further, the stress–strain measurements in tension for these copolymers depicted the appreciable increment in stress values as the NB content increases.  相似文献

Pasteurization parameters for grade A milk are well established and set by regulation. However, as solids levels increase, an increased amount of heat is required to destroy any pathogens present. This effect is not well characterized. In this work, the effect of increased dairy solids levels on the thermal resistance of Listeria monocytogenes was examined through the use of ultrafiltered (UF) milk, reconstituted milk powder, and the milk components lactose and caseinate. From the results obtained, lactose and caseinate did not appear to affect thermal resistance. In addition, the level of milk fat, up to 10% of the total solids in UF whole milk, did not result in statistically significant changes to thermal resistance when compared with UF skim milk. Reconstituted skim milk powder at 27% total solids (D?2-value = 1.16 ± 0.2 [SD] min, z = 5.7) did result in increased thermal resistance, as compared with reconstituted skim milk powder at 17.5% (D?2-value = 0.86 ± 0.02 min, z = 5.57) and UF whole milk at 27% total solids (D?2-value = 0.66 ± 0.07 min, z = 5.16). However, that increase appeared to be due to the increase in salt levels, not to increases in caseinate, fat, or lactose. Consequently, total solids, as a single measure, could not be used to predict increased thermal resistance of L. monocytogenes in concentrated milk.  相似文献

This paper presents the concept of integrating a tactile sensor based, automated part measuring technique and a CAD programming scheme to perform off-line programming for a welding robot. The techniques used to achieve data flow throughout the production process include coordinate system referencing, interactive programming, tactile sensing seam tracing, and coordinate transformation. Together they form the backbone of the idea of integrating measurement and production operations where continuous path geometrical control is required. Techniques for referencing a workpiece with respect to different handling devices, and positioning the part on a suitable fixture, form an important portion of this work. Consequently, the positioning aspect and the data transfer capability between stages in the production process are highlighted. The welding of lap-joint type seams serves as an example. The integration of automated measurement and off-line robot programming actually constitutes a flexible manufacturing system operation that is capable of assuring the required process control. In this regard, linking a robot with an automated part measuring technique forms an important step towards upgrading a robot device from a difficult to program unit to a unit with a high degree of flexibility with rapid, convenient automatic contour programming.  相似文献
