In this study, an efficient iterative algorithm is devised to handle a nonlinear equation arising in estimation of thermodynamic properties at supercritical conditions. The approach is based on a synergistic combination of the classic Newton-Raphshon algorithm and the Adomian decomposition method. We demonstrate that the proposed method enjoys a higher degree of accuracy while requiring fewer iterations to reach a specific solution compared to that by the Newton-Raphson algorithm. To illustrate the efficiency of the aforementioned solution technique, several numerical examples are provided. The proposed method has been easily implemented in computer codes to provide parametric, not just numeric, solutions to the model equations. Consequently, one can derive other thermodynamic properties, which have not been treated parametrically to date, based on our new combined approach.  相似文献

The effects of surfactant concentration, impeller speed, and holdup on mean drop diameter, D32, during emulsification have been studied in a mixer–settler. Two well‐defined regions for the dependence of D32 on surfactant concentration were observed. At low surfactant concentrations, D32 decreased significantly with an increase in surfactant concentration, whereas D32 did not depend on surfactant concentration at high surfactant concentrations. The decreasing rate of change of D32 with impeller speed and the increasing rate of change of D32 with holdup both decreased when a surfactant was added to the system. Moreover, an empirical correlation has been derived to predict D32.  相似文献

In this research work, the volumetric overall mass transfer coefficient based on continuous-phase (Koca) and axial dispersion coefficients of phases (Ec, Ed) in a pilot Pulsed Packed Liquid Extraction Column (PPLEC) have been studied using plug flow model (PFM) and axial dispersion model (ADM). Experiments have been carried out using standard systems of water/acetone/toluene and water/acetone/n-butyl–acetate. Values of Koca evaluated by ADM are greater than those of PFM by about 20% indicating that the axial mixing lowers the performance of PPLEC. It was found that the drop-size distribution is the main cause of the axial mixing in PPLEC. Increase in dispersed phase flow rate (Qd), increases all Koca, Ed and Ec and the minimum values of both Ed and Ec and the maximum values of Koca are in pulse intensity ranges of 0.8–1 cm/s. Finally, three empirical correlations are proposed for the prediction of these parameters which are in good agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献

Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) is the most prevalent monogenic cause of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs). Despite a common genetic etiology, the affected individuals display heterogenous metabolic abnormalities including hypocholesterolemia. Although changes in the metabolism of fatty acids (FAs) have been reported in various neuropsychiatric disorders, it has not been explored in humans with FXS. In this study, we investigated the FA profiles of two different groups: (1) an Argentinian group, including FXS individuals and age- and sex-matched controls, and (2) a French-Canadian group, including FXS individuals and their age- and sex-matched controls. Since phospholipid FAs are an indicator of medium-term diet and endogenous metabolism, we quantified the FA profile in plasma phospholipids using gas chromatography. Our results showed significantly lower levels in various plasma FAs including saturated, monosaturated, ω-6 polyunsaturated, and ω-3 polyunsaturated FAs in FXS individuals compared to the controls. A decrease in the EPA/ALA (eicosapentaenoic acid/alpha linoleic acid) ratio and an increase in the DPA/EPA (docosapentaenoic acid/eicosapentaenoic acid) ratio suggest an alteration associated with desaturase and elongase activity, respectively. We conclude that FXS individuals present an abnormal profile of FAs, specifically FAs belonging to the ω-3 family, that might open new avenues of treatment to improve core symptoms of the disorder.  相似文献

If emotions guide consciousness, people may recognize degraded objects in center view more accurately if they either fear the objects or are disgusted by them. Therefore, we studied whether recognition of spiders and snakes correlates with individual differences in spider fear, snake fear, and disgust sensitivity. Female students performed a recognition task with pictures of spiders, snakes, flowers, and mushrooms as well as blanks. Pictures were backward masked to reduce picture visibility. Signal detection analyses showed that recognition of spiders and snakes was correlated with disgust sensitivity but not with fear of spiders or snakes. Further, spider fear correlated with the tendency to misinterpret blanks as threatening (response bias). These findings suggest that effects on recognition and response biases to emotional pictures vary for different emotions and emotional traits. In this work, thermal buckling analysis of symmetric and anti-symmetric laminated composite plates with a cut-out is presented. The plate is assumed to be subjected to a uniform temperature rise for different boundary conditions. The thermal buckling analysis is performed using the code developed in MATLAB software. The stiffness matrices and thermal force vector are derived according to first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT). To have more control on the mesh pattern around the cut-out, convenient meshes are manually constructed using a mesh generation algorithm in which mesh density around the hole can be controlled. The results of FEM code is compared with ABAQUS's solutions and with those available in the literature. After that, the effects of cut-out size, boundary conditions, plate aspect ratio, and stacking sequence on critical thermal buckling temperature are investigated for symmetric and anti-symmetric plates. Also, plates with cut-out located at positions other than the center of plate are investigated and useful conclusions are derived from the numerical results.  相似文献

Blind separation of image sources via adaptive dictionary learning   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Sparsity has been shown to be very useful in source separation of multichannel observations. However, in most cases, the sources of interest are not sparse in their current domain and one needs to sparsify them using a known transform or dictionary. If such a priori about the underlying sparse domain of the sources is not available, then the current algorithms will fail to successfully recover the sources. In this paper, we address this problem and attempt to give a solution via fusing the dictionary learning into the source separation. We first define a cost function based on this idea and propose an extension of the denoising method in the work of Elad and Aharon to minimize it. Due to impracticality of such direct extension, we then propose a feasible approach. In the proposed hierarchical method, a local dictionary is adaptively learned for each source along with separation. This process improves the quality of source separation even in noisy situations. In another part of this paper, we explore the possibility of adding global priors to the proposed method. The results of our experiments are promising and confirm the strength of the proposed approach.  相似文献

The objective of this paper is to perform the energy, exergy and exergoeconomic analysis for the Hamedan steam power plant. In the first part of the paper, the exergy destruction and exergy loss of each component of this power plant is estimated. Moreover, the effects of the load variations and ambient temperature are calculated in order to obtain a good insight into this analysis. The exergy efficiencies of the boiler, turbine, pump, heaters and the condenser are estimated at different ambient temperatures. The results show that energy losses have mainly occurred in the condenser where 306.9 MW is lost to the environment while only 67.63 MW has been lost from the boiler. Nevertheless, the irreversibility rate of the boiler is higher than the irreversibility rates of the other components. It is due to the fact that the combustion reaction and its high temperature are the most significant sources of exergy destruction in the boiler system, which can be reduced by preheating the combustion air and reducing the air–fuel ratio. When the ambient temperature is increased from 5 to 24°C, the irreversibility rate of the boiler, turbine, feed water heaters, pumps and the total irreversibility rate of the plant are increased. In addition, as the load varies from 125 to 250 MW (i.e. full load) the exergy efficiency of the boiler and turbine, condenser and heaters are increased due to the fact that the power plant is designed for the full load. In the second part of the paper, the exergoeconomic analysis is done for each component of the power plant in order to calculate the cost of exergy destruction. The results show that the boiler has the highest cost of exergy destruction. In addition, an optimization procedure is developed for that power plant. The results show that by considering the decision variables, the cost of exergy destruction and purchase can be decreased by almost 17.11%. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper the problem of optimization of the measurement matrix in compressive (also called compressed) sensing framework is addressed. In compressed sensing a measurement matrix that has a small coherence with the sparsifying dictionary (or basis) is of interest. Random measurement matrices have been used so far since they present small coherence with almost any sparsifying dictionary. However, it has been recently shown that optimizing the measurement matrix toward decreasing the coherence is possible and can improve the performance. Based on this conclusion, we propose here an alternating minimization approach for this purpose which is a variant of Grassmannian frame design modified by a gradient-based technique. The objective is to optimize an initially random measurement matrix to a matrix which presents a smaller coherence than the initial one. We established several experiments to measure the performance of the proposed method and compare it with those of the existing approaches. The results are encouraging and indicate improved reconstruction quality, when utilizing the proposed method.  相似文献
