The in vitro effect of citric acid application on periodontally involved root surfaces was investigated using scanning electron microscopy. Teeth were selected following specific criteria. The specimens were prepared for observation, and the features of the root surface were studied. The results demonstrated that a 3-minute application of citric acid (pH = 1.0) to the root surface after scaling and root planing demineralized the outer root surface, opened the dentinal tubules, and exposed collagen fibers. Scaling and root planing alone left the surface with a smear layer, scattered islands of cementum, and no collagen fibers or exposed dentinal tubules.  相似文献

In automated mechanical transmissions, engaging sleeve with clutch gear causes the switches of mechanical coupling modes of engaging-related parts, and impacts may happen to make the part speeds have discrete transitions during the engaging. The two characters make the engaging process exhibit both continuity and discreteness. The aim of the paper is to develop a high-fidelity model to capture the trajectories of the parts in the transmission. We treat the engaging as a two-phase process—sleeve first interacting with synchro ring and then with clutch gear. The part movements under a certain constraint are governed by multibody dynamics, and the speed jumps caused by impacts are described using the Poisson coefficient of restitution. To couple the continuous evolutions and discrete transitions of the states, a hybrid automaton model is developed. This model allows for the characteristic analysis of the engaging process with multiple interaction cases between the engaging-related parts, and it is validated by bench tests. The effects of two key factors—the relative tooth position of sleeve and clutch gear and the shifting force—on engaging duration and impact are studied through numerical simulations.  相似文献

We developed a joint bioaugmentation and biostimulation approach for the clean up of soil contaminated with high (168.7 and 337.4 microg g(-1)) concentrations of the herbicide atrazine (2-chloro-4-(ethylamino)-6-isopropylamino-s-triazine). Pseudomonas sp. strain ADP (P. ADP) was used for bioaugmentation (approximately 10(7) cells g(-1) soil), and citrate (concentration range 5.8-40 mg g(-1) soil) and succinate (6.2-30.8 mg g(-1)) were used for biostimulation. The study soil had indigenous potential for atrazine mineralization (54.4 +/- 2% of 168.7 microg g(-1) mineralized after 67 day), but rapid mineralization only took place after a prolonged acclimation phase (approximately 28 days). Inoculation with P. ADP alone resulted in a limited improvement in mineralization (e.g., 30.6 +/- 1% mineralization of 168.7 microg g(-1) of atrazine in inoculated soil cf. < 0.5% in noninoculated in 7 days). Quantification of surviving numbers of P. ADP revealed a 10-fold decline from initial levels. However, bioaugmentation together with citrate or succinate biostimulation markedly increased P. ADP cell survival and atrazine mineralization (e.g., addition of 11.6 mg g(-1) of citrate increased mineralization of 337.4 microg g(-1) of atrazine from < 2 to 79.9 +/- 1% in 13 days). A critical parameter in determining the extent of atrazine mineralization by P. ADP was C(s):N(atz) (soluble carbon to atrazine nitrogen ratio): C(s):N(atz) > 40 was required for maximal atrazine mineralization. We suggest our observations may be used as a framework for rational bioremediation of field soils contaminated with atrazine.  相似文献

Head‐mounted displays with dense pixel arrays used for virtual reality applications require high frame rates and low latency rendering. This forms a challenging use case for any rendering approach. In addition to its ability of generating realistic images, ray tracing offers a number of distinct advantages, but has been held back mainly by its performance. In this paper, we present an approach that significantly improves image generation performance of ray tracing. This is done by combining foveated rendering based on eye tracking with reprojection rendering using previous frames in order to drastically reduce the number of new image samples per frame. To reproject samples a coarse geometry is reconstructed from a G‐Buffer. Possible errors introduced by this reprojection as well as parts that are critical to the perception are scheduled for resampling. Additionally, a coarse color buffer is used to provide an initial image, refined smoothly by more samples were needed. Evaluations and user tests show that our method achieves real‐time frame rates, while visual differences compared to fully rendered images are hardly perceivable. As a result, we can ray trace non‐trivial static scenes for the Oculus DK2 HMD at 1182 × 1464 per eye within the the VSync limits without perceived visual differences.  相似文献

Calcium-rich wastewater is a problem for industries due to calcification during downstream processing. The potential for Ca2+ removal from industrial wastewater through ureolytic microbiological carbonate precipitation was investigated for the first time. Batch experiments were used to determine feasible urea concentrations and hydraulic retention times. These results were applied in a semi-continuous reactor system, where the emphasis was placed on the development of a calcifying sludge. Calcium removal in excess of 90% was achieved throughout the experimental period, while the effluent pH remained at a reasonable level.  相似文献

Robust and efficient rendering of complex lighting effects, such as caustics, remains a challenging task. While algorithms like vertex connection and merging can render such effects robustly, their significant overhead over a simple path tracer is not always justified and – as we show in this paper ‐ also not necessary. In current rendering solutions, caustics often require the user to enable a specialized algorithm, usually a photon mapper, and hand‐tune its parameters. But even with carefully chosen parameters, photon mapping may still trace many photons that the path tracer could sample well enough, or, even worse, that are not visible at all. Our goal is robust, yet lightweight, caustics rendering. To that end, we propose a technique to identify and focus computation on the photon paths that offer significant variance reduction over samples from a path tracer. We apply this technique in a rendering solution combining path tracing and photon mapping. The photon emission is automatically guided towards regions where the photons are useful, i.e., provide substantial variance reduction for the currently rendered image. Our method achieves better photon densities with fewer light paths (and thus photons) than emission guiding approaches based on visual importance. In addition, we automatically determine an appropriate number of photons for a given scene, and the algorithm gracefully degenerates to pure path tracing for scenes that do not benefit from photon mapping.  相似文献

In this study, total coliforms, thermotolerant coliforms, Escherichia coli and groundwater nitrate concentration were monitored at 127 groundwater sampling points (only 62 water points for bacteriological parameters) located in the southern part of Abidjan District. Each water sampling location was sampled in March and July 2007, representing respectively the long dry season and the long wet season. Geostatistical methods were used to analyze the spatial variability of nitrates and the groundwater nitrate pollution risk. The maximum seasonal content of total coliforms and thermotolerant coliforms ranged from 400 to 1000 CFU/100 mL and from 200 to 500 CFU/100 mL respectively. Moreover, 94% of these locations presented traces of bacteriological contamination. This contamination was mainly recorded during the rainy period. The degree of correlation between bacterial abundance and chemical parameters is variable. Nitrites, ammonium and potassium favoured coliform abundance. In the 127 water points, groundwater nitrate concentrations ranged from 4 to 198 mg L?1 and were log-normally distributed in the study area. The groundwater contamination risk map indicated that the strongly urbanized west side of the site presented a high probability of exceeding the WHO drinking water standard (50 mg L?1NO3?).  相似文献
