This article presents the results from a study of yarn-to-yarn (YY) and yarn-to-metal (YM) frictions conducted on ring, rotor, air-jet, and open-end friction (OE friction) spun yarns at different relative speeds and input tensions. The results indicate that the behavior of frictions for YY is different than that of YM. In case of YY friction, OE friction yarn shows maximum friction followed by rotor, air-jet, and ring spun yarns; however, a reverse order is noticed for YM friction. Elastomeric Chlorosulfonated polyethylene (Hypalon®) and thermoplastic Polypropylene (PP) based thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs) were prepared in presence of different doses of compatibilizer, maleic anhydride grafted PP (PP‐g‐MA) by employing dynamic vulcanization technique. The effect of incorporation in different proportions of compatibilizer on mechanical, spectral, morphological, thermal, and rheological properties of such TPVs was studied and the same were compared to that of virgin PP and amongst themselves. The mechanical analysis of the prepared TPVs exhibited significant improvements in stress at 25% modulus, ultimate tensile strength (UTS), and hardness values. FTIR studies revealed that a chemical interaction had taken place between Hypalon® and functionalized compatibilizer during the process of dynamic vulcanization which led to an enhancement of interfacial adhesion between them. The two‐phase morphologies were clearly observed by scanning electron microscopic studies. The Tg values of Hypalon® was modified in the TPVs as exhibited by differential scanning calorimetric studies. TGA studies indicated the increase in thermal stability of all TPVs with respect to the elastomeric Hypalon®. Rheological properties showed that the compatibilizer reduces the melt viscosity of TPVs and thus facilitates the processibility of such TPVs. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. This paper proposes a new method for image binarization that uses an iterative partitioning approach. The proposed method has been tested towards binarization of both document and graphic images. The quantitative comparisons with other standard methods reveal that the proposed approach outperforms existing widely used binarization techniques in terms of accuracy of binarization. The experimental results further establish the superiority of the proposed method, especially for degraded documents and graphic images. The proposed algorithm is suitable for a multi-core processing environment as it can be split into multiple parallel units of executions after the initial partitioning.  相似文献

A simplified model of a filled-in jute bag in the form of composite shell of three segments, each of which is generated by surface of revolution, is assumed. The development and distribution of stresses in the different portions of the composite shell under the action of uniform internal pressure is calculated using membrane theory. The portion subjected to maximum stress and the controlling factors in the failure of bag, such as bag dimension and width/length ratio of bag, are identified. These findings corroborate the observations related to failure of filled jute bags in actual use.  相似文献

The kinetics of the heterogeneous vapour phase ammoxidation of 4-picoline was studied over V2O5-Cr2O3-Al2O3 catalysts in a differential flow reactor between 548 and 598 K and under atmospheric pressure. The rate equation for the conversion of 4-picoline to isonicotinonitrile and the rate equation for the overall conversion of 4-picoline, represented the rate data satisfactorily. The overall conversion of 4-picoline was also tested by the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism.  相似文献

We have developed new high efficiency particulate absorbing filter materials by bonding the fiber web with the help of high pressure water jets emerging from micron sized nozzles and subsequently coating the filters with a chemical binder. Two different types of nonwoven filters are produced by varying the water jet pressure during the bonding process. The performance characteristics of the filter materials are evaluated in terms of filtration parameters, such as filtration efficiency, dust holding capacity, and pressure drop. Filtration efficiency depends on the pore characteristics, namely pore size and their distribution in the filters. The developed filter materials have shown promising performance characteristics by capturing higher amount of dust particles with a relatively low pressure drop during use. These filter materials can be used for a wide range of industrial applications, where high filtration efficiency is required at low energy consumption. A fluid flow simulation is carried out by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to understand flow pattern during the bonding process. Wireless mesh networks can provide low-cost solutions for extending the reach of wireless access points by using multi-hop routing over a set of stationary wireless routers. The routing protocol for these networks may need to address quality considerations to meet the requirements of the user. In this paper, we present a quality based routing protocol for wireless mesh networks that tries to maximize the probability of successful transmissions while minimizing the end-to-end delay. The proposed routing protocol uses reactive route discoveries to collect key parameters from candidate routes to estimate the probability of success and delay of data packets transmitted over them. To achieve accurate route quality assessments, a new route quality metric is proposed that uses performance models of data packet transmissions as opposed to estimating route quality from the transmission of control packets, which have different transmission characteristics. These models are developed after careful evaluations of multi-hop wireless transmissions and validated by computer simulations. Relevant parameters that can be used to assess the route quality metric using these models are explained. Extensive performance evaluations of the proposed quality based routing protocol are presented and its benefits in comparison to some other known routing protocols are discussed.  相似文献

This issue reviews various areas where nanotechnology has come up predominately in fibrous materials, namely in electrospun polymeric nanofibers and polymer layered silicate nanocomposites. It includes synthesis, characterization, various methods of collecting nanofibers, factors affecting electrospinning, methods of increasing the productivity of the electrospinning process, and different electrospinning designs. It also covers synthesis and characterization of polymer nanocomposites. Various properties of nanocomposites are discussed. The rheological behavior and morphology of nanocomposites are covered. Different modeling and simulation methods applicable to electrospun nanofibers and polymer layered silicate nanocomposites are discussed. Some of the potential application areas of electrospun nanofibers, polymer layered silicate nanocomposites, and various products available in the market based on nanotechnology are also discussed. Some of the lacking areas and future prospects in nanofibrous structures (nanofibers and nanocomposites) are emphasized in this issue.  相似文献

Studies on the evaporation phenomenon of a pure ethanol droplet have been mostly confined to the semianalytical modeling in stagnant ambient. Investigation into this aspect in a convective environment by considering the Navier–Stokes equation is also minimal. Hence, in this study we analyze and investigate the evaporation characteristics of a single-component spherical-shaped isolated pure ethanol droplet under force convective air environment by considering both gas- and liquid-phase motions, nonunitary Lewis number in the interface, variable Stefan flow (blowing) effect, and the transient droplet heating. The finite difference method is utilized while solving the governing equations of the spherical polar coordinate system for species, momentum, and energy transfer. The maximum Reynolds number and ambient temperature are kept at 100 and 600 K, respectively. The present work is validated by comparing the normalized surface regression curve of the droplet with the earlier experimental and theoretical results. Using the current simulated data, flow and temperature profiles of both gas and liquid regions are visualized in streamline and isotherm contour plots at various instants of time. It is observed that at a moderate Reynolds number a detached vortex forms at the downstream location of the droplet. However, the detachment length increases with time. The temperature gradients along the droplet surface are observed at the initial stage. Moreover, the heat-up period occupies about 20% of the total lifetime of the droplet. The droplet life and heat-up period decrease with an increase in free-stream velocity. In addition, the saturation temperature increases with ambient temperature.  相似文献
