The mechanical properties, tensile strength, and elongation were investigated for poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) samples mixed with dioctylphthalate (DOP) at concentrations from 0 to 100 parts per hundred parts PVC at 23°C. It was found that the tensile strength decreased with the increase of concentration, and the elongation was increased until a concentration of 30 DOP content, and then decreased. This leads to the suggestion that intermolecular plasticization is dominant until 30 DOP content, while interstructural plasticization is prevailing for higher concentrations. The permittivity ε′ and the dielectric loss factor ε″ of the same samples have been measured in the frequency range 102–105 Hz at temperatures from 3 to 96°C. Results show that as the DOP content increases in PVC, the dielectric absorption becomes broader, and the glass transition temperature Tg is lowered. The magnitude of the loss peak decreases with an increase of DOP content to a minimum at concentrations from 40 to 60 DOP content. At higher concentrations the loss peak is increased and Tg is unaltered. Another absorption was observed at 100 Hz and at high temperatures, which was attributed to Maxwell–Wagner effect or direct current conductivity or both of them. It was found that the sample containing 40 parts DOP in 100 parts PVC possesses the best mechanical and electrical properties.  相似文献

Motivated by the finding that the amino acid sequence of the Bence Jones protein BJP-DIA was identical to that of the main protein component of the amyloid fibrils obtained from the same patient with AL-amyloidosis, (Klafki, H.-W., Kratzin, H.-D., Pick, A.-I., Eckart, K., Karas, M. & Hilschmann, N. (1992) Biochemistry 31, 3265-3272.), we attempted to create "amyloid-like" fibrils from the Bence Jones protein in vitro, without addition of proteolytic enzymes. Reduction of BJP-DIA, solubilized in PBS, pH 7.4, overnight at 37 degrees C resulted in the formation of a precipitate which had affinity for the dye Congo red. Electron microscopy of negatively stained samples of the reduced protein revealed aggregates of linear unbranched fibrils. SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis demonstrated that the precipitate consisted almost exclusively of intact light chain molecules. This result makes it possible to deduce a molecular model of these amyloid fibrils generated in vitro.  相似文献

Different parameters affecting the behavior of froth flotation of Jordanian tar sand, obtained from the Dead Sea area, were studied. This study was performed in a modified fluidized bed floatator. The effects of the addition of a flotation agent, NaOH, temperature and flotation time on the beneficiation of bitumen in the froth were investigated. It was found that the beneficiation factor in the froth increased with the increase of temperature and flotation time. However, the amount of base (NaOH) and the flotation agent were found to have a negative effect on that factor. A regression model based on a full factorial experimental design results was obtained with a significant correlation coefficient. The optimum beneficiation factor was found to be 7.2 and the bitumen content in the froth was found to be 79% in the froth, which was obtained at 0.2 gNaOH/L, zero agent, 80 °C, and 30 min.  相似文献

Five Australian black coals were studied in a bench scale pressurised fluidised bed combustor (PFBC) to investigate the agglomeration propensity. It was found that coals with higher proportions of calcium aluminosilicate showed higher propensity for agglomeration and defluidisation. The pressure-drop sintering technique can predict the agglomeration propensity for coals. Samples with a sintering temperature lower than the operating temperature of the PFBC showed agglomeration. The laboratory ash can be a good representative of the PFBC ash when studying agglomeration and defluidisation.  相似文献

Using an established biochemical approach, five subcellular fractions of human B lymphocytes were prepared by differential centrifugation. Crude membranes were passed over a lentil lectin column to enrich carbohydrate-coated cell surface microsomes. The lectin-bound fraction contained a high amount of plasma membrane-derived microsomes as indicated by cell surface markers. All subcellular fractions in Western blots proved to contain distinct but variable amounts of porin. There was a strong increase in porin content from crude membranes to plasma membrane-derived vesicles. The porin content of this fraction appeared to be higher than that of mitochondria. In the final step the plasma membrane-derived microsome fraction proved to be devoid of contamination by outer mitochondrial membranes, as revealed by antibodies against the established markers MAO B and Tom20 applied in Western blots. These data prove the extramitochondrial expression of human type-1 porin/ type-1 VDAC.  相似文献

The synthesis of biodegradable environmentally friendly copolymeric beads for water treatment biosorption processes is demonstrated. The synthesized poly(methacrylamide) grafted aliginic acid copolymers were characterized using 1H NMR, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, TGA and SEM. The di‐block copolymers showed a morphological change from two‐dimensional layer‐by‐layer structures to three‐dimensional well‐compacted wrinkles as grafting efficiency increased. The copolymeric beads were formed from the di‐block copolymer and algae crosslinked with 5% calcium ions (w/w). These copolymeric beads were then subjected to biosorption investigations for zinc ions as a model heavy metal ion at different pH values and stirring time periods. Batch adsorption experiments showed that the copolymeric beads were effective in zinc ion removal from aqueous solutions with maximum uptake exceeding 89.0 mg g–1 using higher grafting efficiency copolymeric beads at pH 5.5. Equilibrium pH studies revealed that zinc biosorption was pH dependent and maximum uptake was obtained at pH 5.5. Dynamics studies showed that the biosorption of zinc was rapid with equilibrium attained within 40 min and the data followed pseudo‐second‐order kinetics. The equilibrium biosorption of zinc ions on the copolymeric beads exhibited a Freundlich isotherm fit. © 2012 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Jordan has huge reserves of energy sources such as oil sand, oil shale, and olive cake. This work presents a part of an ongoing project to develop an appropriate low cost beneficiation technology for Jordanian oil sand. This study presents the utilization of a modified fluidized froth flotation process for beneficiation and bitumen recovery from Jordanian oil sand. This modification includes fluidization technology to replace the agitation process found in a typical flotation technology. Results of this research show that the recovery of bitumen from Jordanian oil sand reaches its maximum of 86% during the addition of 0.35 wt% of a special cut of light cycle oil as a collector. The results show that the amount of hydrocarbon content (H.C) in oil sand has a minimal impact on floatability of oil sand. In addition, the results show that increasing the temperature enhances the bitumen recovery from Jordanian oil sand. The addition of NaOH is found to have a similar effect of increasing bitumen recovery. The results show that a special cut of cycle oil increases the bitumen recovery more than the normal cut of cycle oil.  相似文献

Jordanian oil shale ash was used as an adsorbent for the removal of copper and zinc from aqueous solution. This ash was treated with either hydrochloric, nitric, sulfuric or phosphoric acids followed by washing and/or neutralization with sodium hydroxide in order to enhance its adsorption capacity. The sample that was treated with nitric acid showed the highest cation exchange capacity (CEC) of 146 meq/100 g, while the one that was treated with sulfuric acid showed a value of 32 meq/100 g. Different adsorption isotherm data for both copper and zinc were obtained using the nitric acid-treated sample at different pH values. Freundlich and BET models were used to fit the experimental data, which showed that BET best-fitted these data. The separation factor for these isotherms shows unfavorable adsorption type at lower pH value.  相似文献

The behavior of lead-free solder alloys under complex loading scenarios is still not well understood. Common damage accumulation rules fail to account for strong effects of variations in cycling amplitude, and random vibration test results cannot be interpreted in terms of performance under realistic service conditions. This is a result of the effects of cycling parameters on materials properties. These effects are not yet fully understood or quantitatively predictable, preventing modeling based on parameters such as strain, work, or entropy. Depending on the actual spectrum of amplitudes, Miner’s rule of linear damage accumulation has been shown to overestimate life by more than an order of magnitude, and greater errors are predicted for other combinations. Consequences may be particularly critical for so-called environmental stress screening. Damage accumulation has, however, been shown to scale with the inelastic work done, even if amplitudes vary. This and the observation of effects of loading history on subsequent work per cycle provide for a modified damage accumulation rule which allows for the prediction of life. Individual joints of four different Sn-Ag-Cu-based solder alloys (SAC305, SAC105, SAC-Ni, and SACXplus) were cycled in shear at room temperature, alternating between two different amplitudes while monitoring the evolution of the effective stiffness and work per cycle. This helped elucidate general trends and behaviors that are expected to occur in vibrations of microelectronics assemblies. Deviations from Miner’s rule varied systematically with the combination of amplitudes, the sequences of cycles, and the strain rates in each. The severity of deviations also varied systematically with Ag content in the solder, but major effects were observed for all the alloys. A systematic analysis was conducted to assess whether scenarios might exist in which the more fatigue-resistant high-Ag alloys would fail sooner than the lower-Ag ones.  相似文献

Direct current (DC) Schlumberger resistivity sounding and dipole-dipole resistivity profiling experiments were conducted at the border of an 2.2 long×1 km wide open waste disposal site in central Jordan. The site is on an approximately 20 m thick limestone, chert and chalk rock sequence and is surrounded by a series of hills. Lying upstream of an urban area, agricultural land and numerous groundwater wells, any contamination spreading from the waste disposal site could have a serious effect on the people and the environment. In this study, the subsurface resistivity distribution was mapped and compared with the data obtained from boreholes and aerial photographs. DC resistivity methods were found to be a fast and inexpensive data collection tool. The results obtained will be of use for engineering preparations and the operation of the site, as well as for monitoring any future pollution.   相似文献
