Synthesis and Composition of Compounds Containing the B10H- 11 Anion

The compounds MB₁₀H₁₁ (M = Me₄N⁺, Et₄N⁺, Bu₄N⁺, Ph₄P⁺, Ph₄As⁺) are synthesized. A procedure is proposed for boron determination by atomic absorption spectrophotometry, using microwave processing for sample preparation.

New Sorption Materials Based on Organosilicon Derivatives of Thiosemicarbazides

The synthesis of organosilicon derivative monomers and polymers characterized with sorption properties has been performed. The synthesized organosilicon polymers have been investigated as sorbents for heavy (Hg(II)) and noble (Ag(I), Au(III), Rh(II), Pd(II), and Pt(IV)) metals. The coefficients of the interphase metal distribution have been estimated.

SHS of a superoxide in the Na-Fe-Y-O system

For the first time, complex oxide NaFeYO_{7 + x} was prepared by SHS (T _c = 750–1200 K, U = 1–4 mm/s) in the Na-Fe-Y-O system. Explored was the influence of reagents ratio on combustion limits for the mixtures under study. Combustion products were characterized by XRD, SEM, EDX, chemical analysis, and magnetic measurements. Single-phase NaFeYO_{7 + x} was obtained at an excess of sodium in green mixtures. To stabilize the product, the water-washing procedure was used just after synthesis. The synthesized material has a cubic crystal structure with a cell parameter close to that of sodium yttrate NaYO₂, it exhibited very weak magnetic properties, and overly-stoichiometric oxygen content. The product is heat resistant up to 450 K. The synthesized product is a new inorganic superoxide with good technological perspectives for use as a solid oxygen-containing material.     

Thiophene and naphthalene eutectics with benzene homologs

The variation in composition and melting point of binary eutectics of thiophene and naphthalene with benzene homologs is established. Analysis permits prediction that eutectics will exist in 48 binary systems and 67 ternary systems that have not been experimentally studied.     

IR Spectroscopic Characteristics of Polyacrylonitrile Copolymer Fibres

The 1500-1700 cm^-1 frequency region in the spectrum of PAN copolymer fibre is structurally sensitive and can be used for the relative characterization of intra- and intermolecular interactions and level of supermolecular structural organization in fibres fabricated in different conditions, in particular, as a function of the nature of the solvent. In the systematic investigation of PAN copolymer fibres, the selectivity of absorption in the indicated frequency region could be analytically useful for further studies to solve both scientific and applied problems.     

Separation of the anthracene fraction of coal tar study of as a polyazeotropic mixture

The structural model of anthracene fraction 1 from coal tar is analyzed. That model contains the basic components of the fraction. The constraints on the isolation of individual components by rectification are identified.
