Three series of interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs) based on a polyurethane (castor oil + toluene diisocyanate) with polystyrene, poly(methyl methacrylate), and poly(n-butyl methacrylate) were synthesized and characterized. Dielectric relaxation studies of these IPNs were carried out from ?150 to 100°C in the 100 Hz to 100 kHz range. The effects of structural variables such as composition, type of vinyl monomer, as well as the effect of interaction of the phases on the dielectric properties were studied. A certain degree of phase mixing was observed to exist in all series as detected by the variation of the glass-transition temperatures of the IPNs. Maxwell–Wagner–Sillars polarization at the interface of the two phases was observed. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Morphological aspects of six cereal starches and their graft copolymers with polyacrylonitriles (PAN) prepared from granular as well as geletinized starches are reported. Scanning electron microscopy showed that grafting is not uniform on the surface but has also occurred in the interior of the granules. The graft copolymers prepared from gelatinized starches maintained the individuality but no resemblance with original shape of the granules.  相似文献

Solvation dynamics and conformational transformation in oligomers with varying degree of temperature sensitivity is studied using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Conformational transformation in three model systems namely poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM), poly(acrylamide) (PAA), and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) are compared and contrasted to understand the origin of a coil-to-globule transformations across the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) in thermo-sensitive oligomers. PNIPAM, PAA, and PEG are water-soluble oligomers. However, for the temperature range used in these simulations, PNIPAM shows an LCST whereas PAA and PEG are non-thermo-sensitive. Oligomers of PNIPAM, PAA, and PEG consisting of 30 monomer units (30-mer) each were simulated at 5 °C (278 K) and 37 °C (310 K). Conformational transformations in the oligomers are evaluated using structural and dynamical correlation functions such as radius of gyration, radial distribution function, residence time probabilities and hydrogen-bonding life-times. Our simulations suggest that the solubility, solvation dynamics, and conformation of the oligomers are dictated by two factors: (a) the local structure of proximal water and (b) the diffusion and exchange kinetics of proximal water with bulk water. In thermo-sensitive oligomer such as PNIPAM, we find that the coil-to-globule transition is closely related to the local ordering and solvation dynamics of PNIPAM. We have identified stable configurations of proximal water molecules for an oligomer undergoing conformational transition. The slow diffusional properties of proximal water molecules near PNIPAM oligomers suggests that water forms a stable network near hydrophilic groups of PNIPAM as compared to the hydrophilic groups of PAA and PEG. Thermal perturbation of this solvated structure results in significant reduction in local ordering of water, which contributes to the globular collapse and the reduced solubility of PNIPAM above its LCST. On the other hand, non-thermo-sensitive oligomers such as PAA and PEG are characterized by much faster diffusion and exchange kinetics of proximal water at the two simulated temperatures compared to PNIPAM. This faster exchange kinetics helps in maintaining higher hydration level of the oligomers and is responsible for the apparent hydrophilic character and thereby the observed solubility at the two simulated temperatures.  相似文献

Lanepitant is a high-affinity, selective neurokinin-1 receptor (NK-1) and is effective in the dural inflammation model of acute migraine. Lanepitant 30, 80, and 240 mg given orally was evaluated in a double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study to determine its effect in reducing migraine pain and severity of associated symptoms. Outpatients treated four migraine headaches of moderate or severe pain intensity with study drug according to a randomization schedule. They recorded their pain intensity and severity of migraine-associated symptoms at 30, 60, 90, and 120 min. Although 53 patients were randomly allocated to a treatment sequence, only 40 patients completed all treatments. There was no statistically significant difference in improvement in migraine pain at any time for any of the treatments. Additionally, there was no change in severity of migraine-associated symptoms associated with lanepitant therapy. No adverse events could be attributed to lanepitant. Lanepitant was ineffective orally in treating acute migraine in this trial. This may be due to poor bioavailability during a migraine attack. Alternatively, the neurogenic inflammation hypothesis may not apply to migraine.  相似文献

Three high temperature films, polyimide, Teflon perfluoroalkoxy and poly-P-xylene, were evaluated for possible use in high voltage power electronic applications, such as in high energy density capacitors, cables and microelectronic circuits. The dielectric properties, including permittivity and dielectric loss, were obtained in the frequency range of 50 Hz to 100 kHz at temperatures up to 200°C. The dielectric strengths at 60 Hz were determined as a function of temperature to 250°C. Confocal laser microscopy was performed to diagnose for voids and microimperfections within the film structure. The results obtained indicate that all films evaluated are capable of maintaining their high voltage properties, with minimal degradation, at temperatures up to 200°C. However, above 200°C, they lose some of their electrical properties. These films may therefore become viable candidates for high voltage power electronic applications at high temperatures.  相似文献

Mn(II)-, Co(II)-, Ni(II)-, and Zn(II)-polychelates of 4,4′-(4,4′-Biphenylylenebisazo)-di(2-hydroxy acetophenone oxime) have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of their physicochemical properties. An octahedral structure is suggested for all the polychelates. The order of thermal stability for all the polychelates was determined from their thermogravimetric analyses.  相似文献

Mechanical and dielectric properties of rubber mixtures of epoxy/polyurethane based on castor oil loaded with glass fiber is of great interest from a technological point of view. Epoxy resin was prepared from bisphenol A and epichlorohydrin in alkaline medium. Polyurethane was prepared from the hydroxyl group of castor oil reacted with 2,4-toluene diisocyanate. Elemental analysis and infrared (IR) spectra are presented as evidence for the formation of these materials. A homogeneous solution of epoxy resin and polyurethane was prepared in acetone containing a curing agent 1,3-propane diamine. The glass-reinforced laminates were prepared by interacting polymer blends on the glass fiber through compression moulding. Chemical resistance to solvents, flexural strength, izod impact strength, and Rockwell hardness studies on a series of specimens were investigated. It was observed that they behave as tough materials. An attempt was made to study the effect of electrical conductivity by changing the compositions of rubber mixtures during reinforcement with glass fibers. The dielectric constant (E′) dielectric loss (E″), and loss tangent (tan δ) of the specimens and their dependence of temperature was studied.  相似文献

Poly[3,3′-(6,6′-bis-(2-substituted-4-quinazolonediyl))alkylene]s have been synthesized by reacting 6,6′-bis-(2-R-3,1,4-benzoxazinone) (R = Me, Ph, and ? CH2Ph) with aliphatic diamines H2N(CH2)nNH2 with n = 0, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 in m-cresol. These polymers are insoluble in all common organic solvents but are fairly soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid. The polymers were characterized by IR spectral study, viscometric measurements and thermal analysis. IR spectra of the polymer samples have been compared with those of their model compounds.  相似文献
